  • @Tiddleshalifax Dont start me on the dump runs as I need to do loads :(
I'm considering starting now even though we might not move for months... just thinking I may find it easier to do in the summer light than middle of winter!

Now I've discovered that we likely won't even get searches back for 2 months, moving in October seems doubtful. I am thinking probably early November.

On the plus side, I'm trying to keep in mind that we'll have saved even more money by the time we move to do all the jobs needed around the house ASAP.

Considering we've just found out we likely need new windows + complete garage roof rebuild + the driveway we wanted to build anyway... we might have enough to do the windows at least before we move in properly.
Definitely start de cluttering!! We live relatively minimalistically yet the amount of rubbish we had that we don’t use/need!!
  • Who is doing the searches ? I've had mine back.

I need new windows, new kitchen, bathroom eventually so I am in the same boat.

The dumping starts tomorrow in this house as I am playing with borrowed time as my OH is possibly being sent away to the middle east. Leaving me to do this all alone with a new pup and kids !

I'm sure they arrange all this to cause the most inconvenience.

De cluttering; having been in the current house for 33 years the process was started once we put the house on the market. It has taken numerous trips to the dump, but we're almost there.

Today is the day where the excessive number of tradesmen all come and give my buyer quotes for the ridiculous list of non-issues. Will my fury reduce after today (I have been on the ceiling all weekend), will my EA be able to rebuff all attempts to negotiate, will I ever move........
    ............time will tell.

We've done a couple of tip runs, some of it including the stuff the previous owner left in the property when we moved in, that we'd just tucked away in the shed!!

Completing on Friday, probably about 70% packed at the moment. I'm off work all week, but 9 months pregnant so limited in what I can actually do, unless we want dozens of half filled boxes to move!

Good luck to everyone this week. Buyer is signing final paperwork tomorrow for exchange Tuesday and then completion Thursday. We’ve spent the weekend packing and taking down the TVs. Tomorrow is a tip run number 3!!  and 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 We can actually move this week!
So glad you're in the final stretch! Good luck!

Definitely start early! We put a bunch of stuff on storage which has helped massively. (With viewings and with packing - small house not lots of room to keep boxes!) We got a good deal on a storage unit for the first 12 weeks, it was only like £6 a week or something.

That sucks about the searches - it's ridiculous how long they can take! We're in a similar position - were originally hoping for end of August completion, but are now realistically looking at October. But like you say, it's more time to save to get things sorted when you're in!

But I've started clearing out and decluttering now, just to give myself plenty of time to get it done so we're not taking anything with us we won't be using.

  • This house buying malarkey is beyond stressful.

I've emailed and my solicitor has written to someone with regards to our leasehold garage and waiting to get a reply is just too much. I'm constantly on edge and because it is out of my control, I feel really stressed about it!!

Fingers crossed this will settle your buyer down and things can actually get moving!
