@Mizydoscape Welcome aboard - yep, that's rubbish! The cheery optimism you describe from the agent (shared by our sellers' agent) is really getting me down now. If I hear 'it's full steam ahead' one more time, when we're actually stranded between stations with multiple signal failures, I'll explode. Adding a house to the chain (where supposedly there is none) is happening way too often on this thread. I'm willing to bet your chain free purchase was never any such thing. It's rotton and you have my sympathy. Fingers crossed they'll proceed quickly though.2

Mizydoscape said:Hello can I join? Our house went SSTC on 26/05, we had an offer accepted on a house 2 weeks later. They found a chain free onward purchase sometime mid June so we got a shift on and are just waiting for enquiries to be answered on our purchase now. Have signed the contracts for sale.
Yesterday I had an update from our agent to say that another property has literally just been added to the top of the chain 😒 so now we wait for them to catch up with everyone else. I said we had hoped to be in to avoid Stamp duty at the end of September and my agent was like "oh... well they can usually catch up really quickly once everything gets going". So now I'm feeling a bit blah about it.
Uhhh so frustrating!1 -

Ahh so glad I'm not alone here! I was doing so well at not getting stressed about anything. This is my first time selling and our buyers have been great so far. Apparently they're cool too wait it out and we really really want the house we're buying and felt like we were getting towards the end but now. Ugh is the word I think!
Best of luck to those who are closer than we are!2
