@mjane93 It might be my fault because I was trying to be kind and told them there was no rush to leave today  - by which I meant that they could have a couple of hours in the afternoon and didn't need to be out early morning.

I foolishly assumed that people in their 70's would understand that completion day was leaving day but it seems they thought they wouldn't need to actually leave until tomorrow!!!!

Wow what would they do if ((like many buyers) you needed to move in today? And were waiting outside with the removals people?

Have they never moved house before?

You would think not.  They didn't understand there was a difference between exchange and completion.  They have been texting me most days to explain things to them because they didn't understand what searches were or what solicitor enquiries were.

It has been a little trying at times.

Does anybody else feel like their entire life is absolute clown shoes at this point because of this whole process?!  🙈😂😂
Yep, definitely agree with this! x
Yes - and my alcohol consumption has gone through the roof 🤦‍♀️  Final day today to exchange to meet original completion date and not heard anything from anyone. Have phoned solicitors and left a message at 10 and emailed estate agents this afternoon.

    Feel like giving up 😩
Know the feeling - my chocolate consumption has gone up!
Yes, my intake of junk food is a bit ridiculous at the moment.  Need to reign it in .  As for alcohol, I really don’t drink very often at all.  But I can see why people do!!!!  Wish I could have the same willpower with chocolate that I do with alcohol as I would be a lot slimmer if I did 😂🥺

I just don’t understand how much longer we (me, my husband, everyone here...) are supposed to go through this total emotional agony.  It is horrendous.

what we are being told is the only outstanding thing holding up exchange is a fax, which needs to be sent from our buyers lender to their solicitor and then exchange can begin.  One measly fax!!!! Oh my lord! how long does it take to send a fax??!

i’m sorry I have lost all sense of rational thoughts at this point!

Still no exchange & no proper reason why not. Completion is tomorrow with everything in place

I don't know what to do. Solicitors Receptionist just says we pack up as normal & exchange will happen but how can I trust that!!!??? Removals due at 9am.

    I feel sick
How does this even happen? So infuriating. I hope all is ok for you x

No exchange here again today - but solicitor and estate agent say everyone still working towards 5th for completion so we have booked removals (hopefully!) and solicitor has requested mortgage funds.

I will never understand why this is so stressful and last minute. It’s the most ridiculous process ever 🙄
  • Agree @geostar37 - there must be a better way of buying & selling houses 😬 x
  • I've been lurking watching this thread since I decided to purchase my own house following my Divorce.  Its been a challenging time for all of us and I'm quite laid back in thinking it will happen when it happens, however I'm now at the point where I don't know what I should be expecting next.  My solicitor doesn't keep me well informed, and following guidance on here I hear the message they will tell me when there is something to do, so I don't need to keep contacting them but at the beginning of July I realised I hadn't heard back from any searches, whereas on 1st house attempt I heard back within a week, so I decided to email and discovered that they hadn't been submitted on the new property, so now they have and I think I am waiting on one.

So I sit and wait for someone to talk to me about exchange and completion dates and hope its not long now.  Good luck to all those waiting to exchange

    My timeline

2/21 mortgage deeds witnessed and signed and returned

    2/21 fixtures and fittings agreed

3/21 vendors house number 3 falls through as onward purchase want to remarket £50,000 higher

I agree to wait for them for them to find next house as nothing comes on the market that I can view and afford.

5/21 vendors now want to remarket higher, and I lose property as £15,000 over my budget

    4/6/21 new DIP issued

  • @BuyingLateInLife - sounds like it’s been a roller coaster 🎢 for you! Hope the title deeds are sorted soon and you can start talking about dates for exchange x
  • No news here today. Buyers final search should be back tomorrow and we’ve been told his enquiries will be sent same day (but the solicitors are awful so we shall see!)
