WorriedKirkels said:@78sk - is yours a complicated chain / sale as 5 months sounds like a nightmare!
FTB buying an empty house.
But to be fair 19th Feb - 4th June was waiting for probate. So if we exclude that I guess its fairly normal.
Just hate waiting.. I might wear out my emails app constantly checking it!2 -

Just heard completion will not be able to take place until Monday (expected not guaranteed) due to bottom of the chain mortgage funds not being released until then! They did mess about with exchange and completion date before and asked for it to be delayed before exchange so a new date was set.
I’m not sure what to do my solicitor says should serve a notice to complete on our buyers but I’m sure the buyers are as stressed as I am!I stupidly thought once we exchanged (a month ago now) and completion date was fixed that would be it. Everything already moved into storage, place cleaned, garden tended, welcome gifts left as we are now renting a long way from where we are selling.Everything I have read says this is extremely rare to happen so I wasn’t worried about it! I don’t think I can cope with any more stress as the moment.1 -
Update - hopefully exchange can happen any day now for us. Deposit paid today. Lender has confirmed funds will be ready for the 30th. Really hope everything goes to plan. Week 16 since we made offer on house and we cant wait to move.1

So cheesed off.
what’s our best course of action?
today we found out that the top of the chain who were meant to be moving out awaiting their new build, are in fact buying two properties, which indicates they have separated. They expect exchange towards the end of August when we wanted to be moved by the end of July!
we have to leave our current property in September and are now really anxious. The people we are buying off are really angry too and have said they want progress by next Tuesday. Is there anything else I can do?
this is such a rubbish process especially when the top of the chain are using an on-line only estate agents who are rubbish (“don’t tell him your name Strike”)
Any advice??0 -

Our sellers are annoyed we haven't exchanged yet, but sounds like we're getting through it all much faster than many.
Good luck for your move.0 -
We had our offer accepted 24/5 so not too far in front of you. We do need to complete by 25/8 as this is the last date the one above our vendor is available for moving. If not by this date, his seller will be remarket if (cutting nose to spite face) as the chain previously fell apart (before we joined!!)0

I am so stressed right now. We are in a two property chain that formed on 24 June and almost ready to exchange on our purchase because we bought all the searches from the previous buyer who pulled out at the last minute. We love this house and got a bargain on it - no way can we afford similar houses in the area now with the market the way it is.
But, no further developments on our buyer. Their solicitor had contract pack on 6th July and no news since despite chasing EA twice to find out if searches have even been ordered. I'm terrified this is a sign they are about to pull out of the purchase.
This process is excruciating!0 -

This process is excruciating!Keep chasing the EA!! That’s why they get paid!! And let’s face it, they don’t if you don’t complete1 -
