  • Anyone else just fed up of waiting? My solicitor can't really do anything as she is just waiting to hear from my sellers solicitor to see if searches are all satisfactory and if she has actually done the form she was meant to do 6 weeks ago - which my solicitor said would literally take her an hour, so my sellers can sign it.

I'm so fed up of not hearing anything!
  • re: waiting

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago and it was agony. I found constantly speaking to the sellers estate agent helped move things along, as my solicitor (as great as they were) wasn't keen on chasing as much as the estate agents did.

    You will get there!

This is starting to get beyond frustrating…

    - Received our mortgage report last Wednesday, gone back to to broker and solicitor with issues.
    - Had discrepancy with Mortgage asking to pay £3k of student loan 30 days after completion so gone back to underwriters to remove.
    - Solicitors saying not received all searches back even though 3 weeks ago they said they were just waiting on local searches - I followed up with local search agency and they said they were sent to the company.
    - Enquiries still not responded too from vendors solicitors
    - Follow up emails and text to solicitors and mortgage broker last week… NADDA!

Feel like any chances of exchanging and completing in July are slowly slipping away!

I've been very calm during the whole buying/selling process until now.  We all agreed a completion date of 12th July and were due to exchange last Thursday.  This didn't happen as they were still waiting for something from our sellers to do with the Help to Buy they had.  Every day I've been on to the solicitor and we still haven't exchanged.  She even said yesterday that she hopes we can still complete on 12th as they are still waiting on this thing from the sellers!!

We have booked time off work, removal company, arranged to have post redirected, Sky to install TV/internet etc.  This is turning into a nightmare.  I don't know what to do really apart from keep everything booked and hope for the best and keep pestering the solicitor.

I feel for you @misskismet - my situation isn't quite the same as not in the same house, but one of my reasons for moving was to get away from my horrible aggressive bully neighbours. I find myself altering my life to avoid them and I don't want to live like this any longer than I have to. Really hope things start moving for you.

@justwanttomove - think you are in similar company here! Everyone seems utterly fed up at how long everything is taking. My solicitor is amazing (but then again she is a friend so I suspect I'm getting a good deal there) but the vendors solicitor - oh my days - USELESS. Took weeks just to forward on an email which would take less than a minute to do. As others have said I have found the Estate Agent to be quite helpful in geeing things along where needed.

It is is frustrating waiting for other people, we are desperate to move as one side our neighbour is horrible and the other she is an obsessive gardener and both my husband and I are experiencing sinus issues like nothing we've ever known since living here!

Our solicitors assistant is so casual about it all "oh yes I think I saw the enquiries came back last week..." and "its not our priority to respond to the estate agents" I have developed a loathing for her.

Good luck to all, I thought this being our third move would make me more chill but I think I'm worse because we're so keen to get out of our current house.

Vendors EA has just been on to me to ask if I've sent the deposit over yet, I explained no as it's a same day exchange/completion.

EA has asked for this in writing - surely this is a matter between my solicitor and the vendors solicitor? I mean I'd hope they are talking to each other about things like this!

I’m asking for my daughter actually but can anyone tell me what happens next ? Solicitors have been very poor with communication which we have excused because of the stamp duty deadline which she did not fall into. Anyway after a strongly worded email which was not rude btw but factual she has now received the mortgage to sign and be witnessed (yeah) what actually happens next does she set dates for completion and exchange? Any help please

Is it crazy to chase your solicitor 24hrs later after they said they would get a completion date. I’m worried I’m being to pushy but I don’t trust he’s even asked yet 🤦🏼‍♀️
