Hi @C_N_ I think I remember you from the Nationwide thread

The waiting is tedious isn't it? I know I should be patient but I've hated my rented house for so long now - I just want to move!
Ha yes indeed that was me. It is tedious, I'm coping with it much better than my partner tbh and compared to the wait for the Mortgage offer everything else has felt far less stressful. I felt constantly sick for that entire process.

We need to pack but we just can't motivate ourselves to do it untill we get an idea on dates, then it'll be all hands to the pump 😂 it's frustrating with the lead times for furniture too, I want to start ordering ASAP but need the confirmation on everything else first 😬
I’m the same as both of you! Being in my flat and wanting to pack up but the more I pack the less room I have 😂 just want that date ASAP so I can finally get it all away and move!
Unfortunately my house looks like a bomb has hit with packing already. The company I work for insisted we took half our holidays before the end of June because of Covid (makes no sense because customers will still be on holiday in Jul/Aug as they always are but less said about that the better!) so I used the time to pack as much as I could and now I am utterly miserable living in what can only be described as a glorified storage unit.

Fingers crossed we will all see some better movement now the cases that were wanting to beat stamp duty should be done.
I feel this! My house is a complete wreck and I'm now terrified the landlord will want to arrange viewings before I have had a chance to shampoo the carpet and repaint a couple of battered walls 🙈 I'm down to one wardrobe and 5 beds left to dismantle, the bathroom and the kitchen to pack. In a 4 bed with 7 people you can imagine how many boxes and pieces of furniture are piled everywhere!

I do hope so! We spoke to our case handler on the phone today for the first time since we'd instructed our solicitors, and it sounds like things are much more manageable after the deadline. Hopefully the same goes for your solicitors too! The eternal optimist in me is still hoping to complete this month.

I thought waiting on a mortgage offer was stressful and turning me insane, turns out that actually waiting to exchange is stressful and turning me more insane lol!!!! We are ready to go all of our paperwork is done, 3 people before us in chain as far as I’m aware are also ready to go, the people we are buying from (End of chain) are missing two bits of paperwork that we need to move, so here we are waiting again. Our solicitor is giving us radio silence since last Thursday!! She just ignores our emails/calls it’s starting to annoy me! We said we would want to be in by the 23rd July, but are yet to even hear a date for exchange do you guys think we will be able to be in before 23rd!? Or is that another date that is going to come and pass lol!?

Hi everyone,  just wondering how long it took you all to compromise on a completion date. Evertime my solicitor has suggested a date the seller says no. 2 dates have been suggested already but they have been declined by the seller. My solicitor now doesn't even know when we will have a date. I did ask the question if there is something wrong with their ongoing purchase but apparently it isnt that. Can anyone give me advice of what might be the issue or what I can try and do to speed things up? Thanks in advance
  • I will tentatively join!
We accepted an offer on our property 19th May. Already had a sale agreed on another property (vendors are going in to rented).
Last solicitors in the chain instructed 25th May.
    We are a 3 property / 4 household chain.

All mortgage offers / searches etc sorted. Just waiting to see if there's one more enquiry?

Now looking at exchange asap if possible for completion end of the month.

Joining for the first time after lurking for ages.

This is the most frustrating experience we have ever had! We are at the bottom of a small chain, with the last people in the chain moving in with family whilst they wait for their new build to be completed.

We are ready to exchange as are the people above, who we have contact with, but trying to get news from further up is so painful.

We have suggested exchange this Friday and completion on the 26th...but I just need news!

I lay awake almost every night thinking about decorating and moving etc, I just want stability!  Great to hear that so many are successful though, it gives me hope.

We have sent across our deposit which has been acknowledged...I just hope that was the right thing to do...

Hi all , does anyone know what happens when no one can get hold of a solicitor ( my buyers ) ?

My solicitor , estate agency and my buyer can’t get hold of them since the 22nd of June …

is it just the case of waiting ?

    thank you :)

We were very flexible on completion date as we had to move into temp accommodation after our vendor pulled out, rather than lose our sale chain. All we wanted was to exchange before Christmas break & complete early January. Other 3 below us suggested 4th Jan, but solicitors were only just back then, so all agreed very quickly on 8th Jan. We couldn't actually get removals on 8th, so they packed us up 6th and we moved out 7th.

If your seller is declining all suggested dates, has anyone thought to ask him/her for preferred date?

Hi thanks for your reply.  I did say this to my solicitor today but she just said we will just have to wait for them to give us a date. Just feel like I'm left in limbo. Might send their estate agents a message to see if they can help. I just wanted to know really but already it's been over 2 weeks trying to compromise on dates and none was suitable to them and still we dont have a date.

I am so frustrated to still be waiting to complete. It's almost five months since my offer was accepted. Everything is done apart from one lost figure due to seller's debt. It feels like nobody wants to do their job and what literally involves a few people sending over some paperwork means I am stuck in a !!!!!! house with horrible people, going out of my mind.
