Today's update: basically no update. Reached out to solicitor, and she said she chased the seller's solicitor half hour ago but hasn't heard from them since last week. So, I reach out to the agent, usually very responsive, as he's the one who told me they were expecting to receive that insurance document from the property management today, and then we would finally be able to exchange, and surprise surprise! Agent is off the entire week! I've already forwarded the thread to another agent, and am going to follow up with a call first thing tomorrow morning.Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

Update here: Apparently the solicitors couldn’t get hold of each other today so it hasn’t happened! It’s a new reason every day. Earlier it was on the brink of happening and phone calls were about to be made. I don’t know what to think anymore. Trying not to get too upset at the moment but the rollercoaster emotions are hard to deal with! I realise they must be under so much pressure so I haven’t chased but the EA has been brilliant on our behalf.0

@BountyBlink congratulations! So pleased it's finally happened!
@ss2020jd fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Today's update here...
After 3+ weeks of radio silence, heard from our sellers via EA and they 'have a family issue' and would like us to give them another week or so while they work out if they are able to proceed.
No idea where that leaves us with out chain, guessing we'll lose our buyers and have started searching rightmove again but there isn't much about and DD has to self isolate due to a case at school so we can't feasibly go and view anything else anyway.
It should have been so simple!1 -
Well done @BountyBlink!!! You've given us all hope:))@trance_abbey I grew up in East London and love the area you mention. Wapping is actually my favorite part of London, so quiet and you can literally feel and soak up the history as you walk around.My buyer came back with another requested change to an agreed retention (this is the fourth I think?) but apparently is now ready to Exchange tomorrow. So much stress!!!1

Asked my solicitor when we would be exchanging to get a generic response saying we think you should exchange on the day of completion in case you miss the stamp duty holiday and want to pull out. I will never owe any stamp duty regardless. Idiots.DIP 09/02/21

My first post on here since the beginning of our journey.
We should have been exchanging/completing on our first house tomorrow, but a cheque we have been given for the fees won’t be cleared in time (bloody monzos stupid cheque system). We were hoping for the end of this week, but now the sellers say they can’t on Thursday or Friday, only on 28th or 29th. We have to hand our notice on our rental in before the first, which only leaves around 2 days leeway, so naturally we’re bricking it.
Our solicitor doesn’t respond to my emails, and only really updates us just before something big happens/needs doing. My husband emailed her for the first time today asking what is happening with a date. She emailed back saying they’re waiting for the deposit, which she has not once asked for. I have since spoken to her on the phone and she never mentioned the deposit. We have the deposit but we are waiting for her fees, which she knows.
Can any of you lovely lot tell me if there is anything that can go wrong with exchange/completion?1
