We have received most queries back from the vendor's solicitor but there is still about three things outstanding. It is really silly stuff in my eyes but I am not a legal expert so I will try and relax about it. Then there is the forever and a day local search we are still waiting for.. It is really frustrating waiting for someone else to do their job if they had it already about two weeks..

We are renting and our contract is up end of Nov. Our solicitor said we should be able to complete the 30 Nov and she was quite positive about it.. I contacted them and said it is the worst possible date for us and have given them a time scale between the 16th and latest 24 Nov.. They said they are quite happy to try and make it work out to complete by then..

To be honest I know we have had an easy ride with getting a house we liked and a good mortgage approved all in no time. That all happened so quickly we forgot to celebrate it as soon after we were snowed under all the paperwork.. and now its been a sloooow 2 week wait for the local search.. and still nothing..

    .... And relax...

Just had a slightly shirty email from our seller's estate agent about us booking a survey at this stage as she 'thought we were close to completion' :o

Well, yes, we should probably have done it earlier (were waiting for mortgage offer, which we still don't have). Just to reassure those of you whose buyers are doing the same thing as us... :o we certainly don"t intend to eother drop the price or pull out - we know what we're getting into, we just want to make sure there are no major structural issues.

I know we've probably !!!!ed everyone off :o but I've never done this before so inevitably going to get some things wrong :o Also it won't delay anything as it's looking like we still wont have the formal mortgage offer before they do the survey anyway.

    Aarrgghh!

Feel stressed AND like I've had my wrists slapped now :o
  • Thanks Ougat! Definitely no shouting here, I'm trying to wait patiently and just about managing :rotfl:

Cheery Daff - it sounds like you're in a rather difficult position and like you say, you're still waiting for your mortgage offer, so it's not like you're literally about to exchange! I think you're doing amazingly well with all the waiting around you're having to do, ignore the shirty email :)
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)

How utterly frustrating about having to wait till the 9th not knowing if the searches been sent off or not.. Did you by any chance made a payment towards them?

Like you and I suppose everyone else at this stage we also talk morning noon and night about the house.. where we are.. what we want to do.. and on and on.. repeated and rinsed washed and repeated conversations.. We both try to switch off and concentrate on just living like normal but it just does not happen. It is no use that I have been on holidays the last two weeks with nothing to occupy my time other than refreshing my e-mails a 100 times a day or checking my phone for any missed calls. Luckily my work mates are spared the inane conversations but I am sure I will bore them all silly once I am back at work on Friday.. I drive myself up the wall..haha

Shirty e-mails can go in the spam box.. if you are still waiting for the mortgage offer you have plenty of time getting your search done.

I can not even begin to think how you must feel about the long process of getting your mortgage offer.. I would have lost the plot totally by now..
  • Update:
23rd Aug - Offer on house accepted
2nd October - Quote from solicitor received
5th October - purchase questionnaire posted back to solicitor
6th October - Mortgage offer received
12th October - survey paid for
20th October - signed survey agreement emailed to surveyor
25th October - survey carried out
30th October - paid solicitor and searches ordered
    1st November - valuation received - £0 in present condition :(
Damp report and quotation for essential repairs needed before they can advise on a retention. My mortgage expires on 3rd December as I transferred it from another property. That had a distorted wall, but was valued at what I'd offered.

Why so long between having the offer accepted and instructing solicitors? Apologies if you have already posted about this

Thanks ougat, spoke to solicitor still waiting on local search which will be another 10 days then should be good to go. Looking to complete around the 22nd which will be 12 weeks from offer accepted so can't complain at the moment.
  • So our buyer's solicitor is off sick today, but our solicitor said it was looking like we could still exchange today. It hasn't happened, so now we've got to hope it will happen tomorrow.

We are due to complete on Monday so the last thing I want is to be stressing on Friday afternoon as to whether or not it's going to happen  I really hope tomorrow is the day!
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)
  • I was wrong

    Didn't exchange yesterday

Didn't exchange today as vendor didn't answer phone to agree to new completion date

I'm going to run away and join the Hare Krishnas.
