The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

I'm currently in exchanging purgatory. Contracts signed and deposit given to solicitor on Wednesday, with a view to a completion date on 5 May. We're not aware of any potential hold up, but radio silence from the solicitors (who have to date been pretty good). We're renting with a 2 month notice period - we handed in our notice on 6 March which we thought was conservative at the time. If we push into next week without having exchanged things will get very stressful.0

Here we go again for first time in eight years; lockdowns made us realise we really need to move away from our noisy neighbour asap.
21/4 - viewed property, put in offer
22/4 offer accepted and house taken off market
23/4 solicitor and surveyor instructed
Now to wait for survey results and start clearing out cupboards etc in preparation for move to this house or another.2 -

Mini celebration moment... our solicitor has finally received the draft contract for the house we're buying! Feeling rather relieved! I know this may seem trivial but our offer accepted 7 weeks ago so I was starting to think it was never going to happen!0

We had an email from the EA of the house we’re buying saying they had contacted our solicitor for an update and would let us know if they got one-don’t need one I’ve been in touch with them myself but sure. Asked her a question about moving dates in case there’s any preference (the house we live in now we only found out at exchange that they wouldn’t move out for 3 months so that was nice!) and no response we from her so that’s helpful -_-0

still waiting for buyer of my GF's house to get his mortgage offer, although his elusive solicitor has now confirmed they have submitted search requests. At least the developer on our new build purchase gave us 6 weeks to exchange rather than their usual (ridiculous) 3. Doubt we will make the 6 weeks anyway.0

Today has been fun.
After the last few days of trying to exchange only to be told the top of the chain was no longer the top as they were buying and not moving in with parents, even though they agreed to completion next week. I thought we had a few weeks to go.
Spoke to the solicitors and my vendors Estate Agent and it was suggested I could say I was going to start looking again.
The middle sale has now agreed to move in with family and the completion is set for 28th again. Although this was at 4pm so the solicitor thought we may not have time to exchange until Monday.
It is 5pm now, so looking more positive but a weekend of sleeplessness ahead I think.0 -
Just discovered that searches have only just been submitted for my sellers onward purchase and won't be back until 24th May!!!
My sale is ready and my purchase is ready so now we just twiddle our thumbs for another month +
So annoying!0
