You can get an idea through https://www.searchflow.co.uk/news-and-events/personal-searches-turnaround-times/

It shows Bristol City Council as 19 working days though! Which is practically a month...
Oooh that is a nifty little website, thankyou. It definitely helps to have some idea of what to expect!

@hippocrates1 - I feel the same, just so deflated now. Just can't help fearing the worst. Hope we both get some good news soon.
@uralmaid - you've hit the nail on the head there. And every day just drags.
Nothing has happened for six weeks. Can’t be bothered anymore.
We're now into week 7 with absolutely no progress. It's exhausting and I am starting to think that someone is just having a laugh at our expense. Feeling your pain once again!

@birdmadgirl8 & @hippocrates1 - you've probably said but my memory is terrible, apologies, but what is it you're stuck waiting for?
Thanks for the support. I hope you get updates soon.

The vendor did not register the parking space as being owned by the property so they had to go back the developer and ask for it. Now it’s waiting to be approved by the land registry 😞
Aww, hippocrates. Just hate how long the wait is for stuff like this at the moment. Sending a group hug - think you all need it. Tuesday's another day.

Is anyone else getting paranoid someone in the chain might pull out?
Its only me and the seller (empty house). But I’m now getting paranoid as things drag on they may pull out and I’ll be back to square one.
This house stuff messes with your head!
No updates today from my solicitors, must’ve checked my emails every 10 minutes
Totally! That's how I ended today - in a pool of paranoia. On the one hand we need to hear from vendor's solicitor. On the other, I'm worried buyer's getting ready to reduce offer/pull out (something agent said today got that worry niggling away again).
  • @amandacat Let's hope it is just paranoia! If we're worrying like this, then maybe everyone else in our chains is too. All will be well, or all will be as it is meant to be. (Daughter just said this to cheer me up, so passing on her wisdom🌼☺️🌼.)

I kept telling myself when someone DID pull out 'everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK then it's not the end'

Still repeat this to myself some days in this process lol!

Also helps to remind yourself you're doing all you can... So if the worst happens there's nothing you could have done. But try to keep positive!
  • Thanks @Caz_Mnaz - needed to hear that after another sleepless night 😭

    Me!
We are buying from a couple who are moving in with their family and I am convinced they are going to change their mind!
I have no reason to believe this, they have been really efficient the whole way through the process, responding to queries and providing paper work really quickly, but my brain is still going “they’re going to pull out!!” Constantly

The one thing that’s helping me a bit is the fact that, if they do pull out, that would happen whether I worried about it or not. So I can either waste my time worrying before anything has actually happened and make myself ill, or I can be realistic with myself, be aware of the “risk” and just let things run their course.

Morning all, hope Tuesday is proving a better day for you than for me. Just had an email from my solicitor to say there has still been no progress. I just don't understand how a piece of paper can be so hard to get hold of. It's an absolute joke. If I were allowed the details and could chase it myself, it would be sorted today - I'd drive cross-country and refuse to move from someone's office until it's sorted. I'm so scared we are either going to lose one of our two buyers, or our vendors will decide they no longer want to move in with family and pull out. Not to mention the stress that living and working so cramped like this and not being able to see my boys properly/as much is causing. Just ended up crying about it all on my work team call, so that was fun. :(
