Solicitors at bottom of chain say they refuse to talk dates until all the is are dotted and ts are crossed and won't be in a position to do so until at least next week.....

    Give me ruddy strength 😬

I think you've been here just as long as i have 7+ months??!
Fingers crossed for you, but it sounds like you should have something to look forward to next week.
Hopefully we'll both exchange and complete next month 🤞

@Natbag @birdmadgirl8 @Insomniac101 - we need to hire a minibus and drive around the country sorting out these little niggly enquiries.  It would certainly be quicker than waiting on our conveyancers that's for sure.

Hope you all get the news you're waiting for really soon, it's incomprehensible why this process takes so long.  Sending good vibes to you all, and anyone else still waiting.

On my side, homebuyer's report/survey is happening on Thursday and there are some outstanding enquiries that my solicitor has raised with the LA about the management pack.  Joyous!  My LA are notoriously slow at the best of times.  Then there will no doubt be more enquiries raised off the back of survey.  A 12-week turnaround was very ambitious of my buyer I'll give them that.

    Right, who's driving?

😂 Brilliant idea! I'll drive - love a road trip! Sorry to hear of yet more frustration though. Bit of a theme on the thread at the moment.

No updates again today. I emailed my estate agent on 12th April asking him to chase.  3 days later I got an email saying he had left a message for the buyers agent and that they had rung back and said they were going to chase the mortgage broker acting for our buyers buyers and the solicitor.  Not heard anything since.  I also got an email from our solicitor on the 8th April asking for a copy of the water rates which I sent by return. She acknowledged receipt and said as soon as she heard back from the buyers solicitors they should be able to discuss dates. I am sick to death of nothing moving forward.  I have to stop myself from emailing them because once I have emailed them I spend all day checking to see if I have any replies then end up feeling really down.  I discussed this with my OH and we have decided that if there is no discussion and agreement of a completion date by the end of May at the latest - we will take the house off the market. We are so downhearted about the whole thing and nobody seems to be able to get any answers.
Honestly, it's incredible to think they expect payment for this 'service'. I'm not surprised you'd be willing to pull out, but I hope you get some happier news before it comes to that. Sending you some positive energy.
  • I was hoping I was getting towards being nearly ready to exchange on my sale, having just had the Help to Buy valuation done after the last one ran out. Of course, today my solicitor has let me know there is an error in the Land Registry register for the property which will need correcting and who knows how long that'll take. I put the flat up for sale in June last year so I'm pretty sure I'm going to go over a year before actually completing. Feeling pretty despondent about the whole thing tbh.
Blimey - that's a long old journey you've had there. Not surprised you're feeling low, but you must be due some good news soon.

I had a n email from my solicitor today saying the buyer had asked for completion on 30th April. That would be great if I had anywhere to move to!
My vendors purchase is way behind and they are still waiting for searches and raising enquiries, the title document was only released by the Land Registry last Thursday.
My silly EA must have been pressuring their EA without us knowing as they are now saying they may break the chain and move into rented so they don't hold up the sales.
I'm not that bothered if it takes another 2 or 3 weeks, certainly don't think it would be worth moving twice for such a short space of time...I know that sounds ridiculous after being so excited to exchange but also I'm not a monster and they have a 4 month old baby!
On the other hand if it could be 4 weeks plus then I'm all for them breaking the chain 😂

Yup..... We went in the market in August but only SSTC in Nov (and had to pause our hunt for 2 weeks to self isolate 😂🤦‍♀️)

My agent casually said 'ah it should be May' and I quite shortly said 'well it better be as my mortgage expires the beginning of June' and I think I heard the pin drop as he saw his fee potentially at risk lol!

This thread has both terrified and depressed me in equal measures.

i have been sale agreed on my hopefully new house for four weeks, and finally got mine sale agreed (for the fourth time) last week.

i dread the phone call from the estate agents to say my buyer has pulled out.  Their mortgage application is hopefully being processed now, so I am waiting for the survey on my house.

its a short chain, three people, two houses, with me in the middle.  But so much that can go wrong.
