My agent casually said 'ah it should be May' and I quite shortly said 'well it better be as my mortgage expires the beginning of June' and I think I heard the pin drop as he saw his fee potentially at risk lol!0 -

Give me strength! Now nearly 6 months down the line with a 2nd proposed completion date of 30th April our buyers want a survey down!!! Pushing back completion subject to survey?! WTAF! What if they pull out now?!?
I swear I’m going to cry1 -
WHAT. ARE. THEY. DOING??!!!
surely you would know if you want a survey done in the 6 months it's taken to get here?? Unless they're stalling for some reason?!1 -
OMG @Insomniac101- cannot believe anyone would do that at this late stage. I'm raging on your behalf. This brings me back again to the sorry state of our property system. If buyers and sellers were financially committed from an early stage none of this messing about would happen. The current system puts lives in limbo and causes untold stress.
On a more positive note for you though, I've seen this happen many times on this thread (going back to 2017). It slows things down for sure, but often doesn't change the end result of completion and keys in the door.1 -
Hello there, I have been following this thread for a while and 100% share your frustrations, after selling my house 3 times and subsequently buying the house I’m trying to move to just as many I’m teetering on the edge. We were all set to exchange yesterday it went up the chain ( theres 4 of us) but didn’t come back, my solicitor said to try again today, the top have been messing about with dates as we were set to go in the second week of April, but they decided to push us to the end of May, apparently they don’t have an onward purchase, I just hope it doesn’t all fall through again, after the last time I decided to stay put, but the person purchasing my place was so adamant he wanted it, I just hope exchange happens today! Fingers and everything else crossed for all of you today too! It’s a long hard road I wasn’t that prepared for x0

Well I've had 4 hours sleep after receiving a message online from my vendor late last night. He was stressed as they need to complete urgently, they've been ready for weeks and and they've been kept in the dark by their solicitor (same!), all they know is there is an issue. I don't know much more than he does, noone will tell me anything either, so my efforts to reassure him were pretty poor. Just tried to be super nice and told him we should be close now, the delay is due to an outstanding enquiry elsewhere in the chain but that I'll do whatever I can to push things and keep him updated. I'm trying to keep two buyers and a vendor happy, and it's impossible for this length of time
Tried calling my solicitor at 9am this morning to give her what for, to be told she isn't in the office yet, but will call me back 'later'.
FML. I'm done.0 -

Give me ruddy strength 😬I think you've been here just as long as i have 7+ months??!Fingers crossed for you, but it sounds like you should have something to look forward to next week.Hopefully we'll both exchange and complete next month 🤞
My agent casually said 'ah it should be May' and I quite shortly said 'well it better be as my mortgage expires the beginning of June' and I think I heard the pin drop as he saw his fee potentially at risk lol!Hang in there im right here with you.My extension expires beginning of June too.I can see the light at the end of this looooooong tunnel!0 -
Insomniac101- this happened to us. Don't give up hope. We asked for four months if a survey would be done and the buyers kept saying they didn't want one. Then they did.
It's an older property and some items did come up, but they were all age of the property things that were already taken into account when marketing. The buyers didn't even suggest a reduction, they said they'd just realised they wanted to know exactly what they were signing up for before exchanging. We are now talking completion dates.2
