Morning all, hope Tuesday is proving a better day for you than for me. Just had an email from my solicitor to say there has still been no progress. I just don't understand how a piece of paper can be so hard to get hold of. It's an absolute joke. If I were allowed the details and could chase it myself, it would be sorted today - I'd drive cross-country and refuse to move from someone's office until it's sorted. I'm so scared we are either going to lose one of our two buyers, or our vendors will decide they no longer want to move in with family and pull out. Not to mention the stress that living and working so cramped like this and not being able to see my boys properly/as much is causing. Just ended up crying about it all on my work team call, so that was fun. :(
I'm really sorry to hear that. I feel exactly the same about driving across country and staging a protest! Really hope some luck comes your way soon.
  • @Natbag - that really is rubbish. The feeling of having no control over such a massive thing is terrible. I have my fingers crossed for you.

I feel kind of bad putting my update on after reading yours. I got an email from the conveyancer yesterday asking me to set up insurance for the property we are buying so she can tell the lender it is in place.

I sent over proof this morning and transferred the deposit to their client account. I then called to make sure they had it (they did - phew). They are now asking the vendor's solicitors if they are ready to exchange. Hopefully today or tomorrow.
  • We finally got the ok from the freeholder for our buyer! Our solicitor has been trying to contact the buyers solicitor on completion dates for 2 days... nothing! so I've called the EA to call the buyer.... BUT.... buyer seems to think there is still one document they are waiting for!! FGS!! Them and their solicitor didn't get it sorted in the 5 weeks we were waiting for this reply from the freeholder?!?!!

Now the seller can't make proposed completion date as they can't get removers! We can't get removers either, but you know what... if it means leaving all our belongings on the front lawn and moving it a piece at a time I will do that! its been 1 year and 4 months since we've been on the market.  This chain has been going just under 6months! Our mortgage offer is about to expire! OMG... frustration!!!

No updates for me today either. When someone asks me when I last heard anything- all I keep thinking about is the titanic quote... “it’s been 84 years”...

None for us either waiting for the top of the chain only that our ea carnt get a response from there solicitors she has told there estate agents that we need to talk dates as our buyers said they would give it a month after our last completion fell through which was the 26th of March as we didn't know there where others in the chain. So just feeling like it will never happen as our buyers will pull out. they are buying our house to let out. I hope tomorrow everybody gets good news tomorrow
  • I was hoping I was getting towards being nearly ready to exchange on my sale, having just had the Help to Buy valuation done after the last one ran out. Of course, today my solicitor has let me know there is an error in the Land Registry register for the property which will need correcting and who knows how long that'll take. I put the flat up for sale in June last year so I'm pretty sure I'm going to go over a year before actually completing. Feeling pretty despondent about the whole thing tbh.

No updates again today. I emailed my estate agent on 12th April asking him to chase.  3 days later I got an email saying he had left a message for the buyers agent and that they had rung back and said they were going to chase the mortgage broker acting for our buyers buyers and the solicitor.  Not heard anything since.  I also got an email from our solicitor on the 8th April asking for a copy of the water rates which I sent by return. She acknowledged receipt and said as soon as she heard back from the buyers solicitors they should be able to discuss dates. I am sick to death of nothing moving forward.  I have to stop myself from emailing them because once I have emailed them I spend all day checking to see if I have any replies then end up feeling really down.  I discussed this with my OH and we have decided that if there is no discussion and agreement of a completion date by the end of May at the latest - we will take the house off the market. We are so downhearted about the whole thing and nobody seems to be able to get any answers.
