Natbag said:@Josephgousto - oh no, what bad luck! At least both happened at a similar time and you were able to find another quickly, but how stressful!
@dungabeagle - not sure how far along you are in the process, but could it be your Title Deeds - search results and contracts? Or completion statement of costs?
Had a reply from my solicitor (miracle!), but it does't sound good. She said I should speak to my ex about timescales on his outstanding enquiry and discuss with him my options. Well I know what they are, try (unsuccessfully) to get him to allow our sale to complete by moving out before his purchase completes to allow me and the rest of our chains to complete (he simply won't do that) or wait an indefinite amount of time and risk losing our buyers/vendors until his issue is resolved at some unknown point in the future.
I'm so deflated, he delayed the start of the process by several months and now more delays are down to him again. We are ready to proceed on my side, we are desperate to move, but we are so near yet so far and with no end in sight.1 -

We had the title deeds/contracts sent to us last week and they’ve confirmed the signed bits we had to send back arrived with them today- so it’s either more bits of paper to sign or it’s the information about what we need to pay.I have very little excitement in my life so it’ll give me something to look forward to, finding out what they’ve sent!I have so much empathy for your situation it sounds so stressful!1 -
Hello, newbie here!
Not sure if reading all your comments has made me feel better or more anxious at the moment but its good to hear lots of people stories both good and bad!
We're FTBs, don't really know a whole lot about the process other than what we've read online!
We had an offer accepted on a house 8th March, received our mortgage offer on 20th March. Had a call from EA 20th March to let us know our vendor had an offer accepted on a place with no forward chain. After the first one fell through the previous week.
Since then, nothing seems to have happened! I Spoke to our solicitor on 2nd April as we hadn't heard anything from them and they were still waiting for the draft contract from the vendors solicitor (we're using the same company as our vendor for conveyancing in the naive hope it might speed things up a little bit in the process) and that she will only send off for searches once the draft contract pack has been received.
Tried emailing the EA last week to get her to see what the hold up is but got an out of office response saying shes on holiday and with no date of when she's back (assuming not this week as haven't heard anything back from her).
I just want something to be happening with the whole process!
Does anyone have any top tips to share for a complete newbie? Or suggestions on things we can do to get the ball rolling again?

Welcome to the fun!
I think the hold up is probably just sheer volume of cases plus easter/banks hols. You'll have seen that these things take ridiculous amounts of time anyway....0 -
Hi Lemonyrose, when was the memorandum of sale issued?
Your solicitor should really have received the draft contract pack by now so I'd get your solicitor to chase up your vendors solicitor on this.
If you want a survey done on the place you are buying then I would get that booked asap also.0 -
So today I received my mortgage to sign and be signed by a witness. This may sound like a daft question but they witness can be anyone who isn’t family or has an interest in the property, right? So in theory my housemate (who I will no longer be living with once I’ve purchased this house) can sign it?
just seeing if anyone can answer it this0 -
I believe the witness can be anyone not related to you, that was the case for me last time anyway.0

One minute our buyer days they want to arrange completion dates, the next they say they're still waiting for our enquiries to come back.
I give up, I really do.

I think I'll make a few calls on my lunch break today!0
