  • I'm currently waiting on the vendors solicitor to send my solicitor the leasehold information on the flat i'm buying, so we can get the contract sorted. My solicitor has contacted the vendors solicitor multiple times for this.

Think we are all in the same boat, waiting on solicitors to send or receive something. I'm pretty sure the Easter school holidays are not helping at all.
@deadonions - I'm stuck too. My solicitor won't respond to my emails unless there's something to tell me or that I need to do, and won't discuss the situation with me as it's not my purchase or sale where the delay is. She just ignores me. It's so frustrating, but yes, it seems to be normal as you'll gather from reading other updates in here.
    Congrats @mistrihelen !

  • New to the forum. Looking for some advice on what to do regarding solicitors.

House we are buying has no chain and offer accepted 4th January. From that point it took our solicitors 4 weeks to even start searches which came back 3 weeks ago today and here's where we're stuck.

Since then our solicitors have sent out queries to the seller's solicitors which were sent back two weeks ago and currently we are waiting for the reports back. These were apparently sent out last week and still nothing received. Any email is ignored and we've been told that the person dealing with us works part time and no one else will even look at the case so when calling we just get told that.

I understand things take time but not only are we being ignored but the last time we got a response we had a lengthy email essentially bemoaning the fact we had emailed for an update.

Basically unsure if I should complain or is this normal?

It doesn’t sound normal to me!
You didn’t ask to be assigned someone that works part time right? So why should you accept that you have a lesser service because of it.

I honestly haven’t spoken to my solicitor directly over the phone at all since instructing them in February- but I have been in contact with his assistant over the phone a few times (who is lovely! Very reassuring and told me to call her as much as I wanted when I was worried about bothering them) and I have had emails and written correspondence from my solicitor himself throughout - as we are getting closer to completion they are definitely stepping up their game to get things sorted- 2 emails to me yesterday with updates & 1 this morning at 8:15!

I had a few teething issues at the beginning with them - email sent to Mr MyName instead of Miss & a document missed from a pack of info sent out, but this was all cleared up quickly & professionally.

Congrats @BountyBlink - you must be relieved!

I've sent an email to my solicitor asking when we might be able to exchange, and basically stated the lack of progress and correspondence isn't acceptable, neither is my current living and financial situation on this indefinite basis, so without any visible progress or expectations being set of an end date then I'll need to carefully consider my options. I need to complete by April 29th, but I think there's more chance of hell freezing over first.

She will ignore my email as she has pretty much all the others, but writing it made me feel a teeny bit better.

  • hi everyone, I´m back :) nice to see some familiar faces still around.

after the seller of our purchase pulled out, we did find another, much better property - our dream house

only to find out last week, that our buyer of our current property has decided to pull out!!!
managed to book another three viewings in this weekend, got 2 offers, and decided to go with a FTB.

so I am back in the waiting game with everyone ... hoping to complete before the end of june, but that is wishful thinking.

    Bloody hell @Josephgousto what a roller-coaster you've been on!!!!!
  • So I emailed the solicitors to check they had my paper work through. They got back in touch right away confirming that they do have it all & that a “statement” is in the post on its way to us!
No clue what they mean by this statement - could be anything- suspense! Mystery!
  •  @Caz_Mnaz I think everything that could have possibly gone wrong so far has gone wrong :( fingers crossed we have a smooth process from here!

@Josephgousto - oh no, what bad luck! At least both happened at a similar time and you were able to find another quickly, but how stressful!
@dungabeagle - not sure how far along you are in the process, but could it be your Title Deeds - search results and contracts? Or completion statement of costs?

Had a reply from my solicitor (miracle!), but it does't sound good. She said I should speak to my ex about timescales on his outstanding enquiry and discuss with him my options. Well I know what they are, try (unsuccessfully) to get him to allow our sale to complete by moving out before his purchase completes to allow me and the rest of our chains to complete (he simply won't do that) or wait an indefinite amount of time and risk losing our buyers/vendors until his issue is resolved at some unknown point in the future.
I'm so deflated, he delayed the start of the process by several months and now more delays are down to him again. We are ready to proceed on my side, we are desperate to move, but we are so near yet so far and with no end in sight. :(
