Gants Hill residents fed up of ‘stupid’ fines for cars parked on drives

O yes they are. They won't be put in prison if they park somewhere else legally, but they choose not to and instead park in a manner that is both anti social and illegal.Because they are occupying public space, i.e. for everyone, not just themselves.
Whilst the pavement is wider than many, why should a parent with a buggy, a wheelchair user or the mobility impaired need to slalom around all those vehicles.
Have you seen how far over some of them are? The white van looks like its 2 foot over the boundary.
But as I said earlier, if they parked parallel to their property, they wouldn't overhang (except the white van).
all pedestrians can safely pass each vehicle while using the pavement, hardly "anti-social" at allTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

Ahh right. I'm sure these people who quite clearly are very much working class have plenty of cash do move house.

This is the most logical comment. They saw the size of the driveway when they moved in.
If they need more space they can move to a larger plot.
If the largest vehicle you owned when you moved in was a Mini Metro, you might be surprised that a VW Golf is like 4x that size these days and is still considered a small family hatch back.0 -

To you its not anti social, to me it is. Maybe you could add a poll to your thread?
There are probably things you think are anti-social that I don't.
But if they parked parallel there wouldn't be an issue.Originally Posted by shortcrust

So why don't they do it?0 -

You obviously don't know the area, pretty much every street has parking restrictions due to being close to a tube station,Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

There's a tube station nearby? Then they can park their cars 5 miles away and get the tube home. Sorted!0 -
