Seems reasonable, I could so I bought one.0 -

Here we have a council who are enforcing the rules and locals are complaining. Admittedly it seems overzealous and rather sudden, but this is also the council reminding residents that they are technically in the wrong. Land-grabbing and appropriation of public space goes on all the time and most people take a dim view of it, but these residents seem to think it's ok because it's not their fault that their cars don't fit on their drives. But it is their fault. If I were to park my car on the street so that a few inches of my boot overhung a resident's dropped kerb, they'd soon be complaining.
Minimal enforcement of parking and traffic laws - you ever parked in London, or better still in Westminster over night, I dare you to park over night in Westminster to test out their £enforcement of parking.." I guarantee your vehicle will not be there in the morning.
Its nothing about "reminding people" theirs a new council official who wants to impress which includes a bit of money generating.
a bit dramatic regarding "land grabbing"
the difference is, you would be choosing to overhang your boot, these residents are not choosing to do this.Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

O yes they are. They won't be put in prison if they park somewhere else legally, but they choose not to and instead park in a manner that is both anti social and illegal.Originally Posted by shortcrust

Yeah. That's the spirit. Get them parking 2 miles away from their homes, walking home in the winter, all because their car is sticking out 6 inches into a pavement that's about 12 ft wide.
!!!! it, let's go full blown and cut off these povvos water supply. They can walk to the local public toilet and scoop it out in a jug.0 -

There's obviously a parking issue evidenced by the yellow lines if they don't like it they could alway move.0 -
Its quite simple really. If all 4 wheels don't fit on your private land/ driveway then you either need to downsize you car or upgrade your house to a location that has a larger driveway/ garage.0

Because they are occupying public space, i.e. for everyone, not just themselves.
Whilst the pavement is wider than many, why should a parent with a buggy, a wheelchair user or the mobility impaired need to slalom around all those vehicles.
Have you seen how far over some of them are? The white van looks like its 2 foot over the boundary.
But as I said earlier, if they parked parallel to their property, they wouldn't overhang (except the white van).Originally Posted by shortcrust

This is the most logical comment. They saw the size of the driveway when they moved in.
If they need more space they can move to a larger plot.0
