When do you think you can start charging interest from?miserable_ol_so_n_so wrote: »1.The case against the credit card company and high street merchant will be started at the time of my choosing. I have 6 years and then accruing interest at 8 %.
Hint: you can't charge interest from now if you don't start your court claim for another five years.
Anyway, let's save that for the other thread.0 -
Thanks. I will take this up with Amazon tomorrow and see how I get on. The best possible outcome would be full refund to me and the item gets returned to the manufacturer who would be glad to have a failed component to investigate so he can fix the problem. I am sure the manufacturer knows of this problem with his plastic hinges as he does supply a rugged metal hinge at £12. You can get an identical one with identical mechanical specification on eBay for £6, free next day delivery.theonlywayisup wrote: »If the OP is intent on court action, at least making attempts with Amazon will count as mediation.
IME Amazon will deal with claims regardless of time IF they are persuasive enough.....Illegitimi non carborundum

Fantastic. I got my money's worth tonight. Night all. Hope the bugs don't bite. Anyone find out what item of clap has failed yet?0

Thanks. I thought the interest is applicable from the moment the loss took place. In that instance from the date the money should have been paid into my account. Is that incorrect? I will send them a LBC within the next few days. Can interest start from that point on?When do you think you can start charging interest from?

I just logged into my Amazon account and attempted to return the item. It did not prohibit me at this stage and led me to the next screen so looks like it may well open a case. If not, I will phone in. I am a good customer of theirs, whether that will make any difference who knows. That's why I said he needs to phone them.....Illegitimi non carborundum

What you've done will send a return request to the seller which he can deny if he wants. But it's a good place to start.miserable_ol_so_n_so wrote: »I just logged into my Amazon account and attempted to return the item. It will be interesting if you can open an AtoZ through your account after 4 months as Amazons policy is 90 days max - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=2018897300 -
Thanks. Will do this today. Also, I will consider asking my card provider to initiate a charge back, I am not sure about this as there might be lower limits on sums involved. If I have no cooperation from Amazon, I will terminate my account there. I can rearrange my repeat orders with merchants direct and do away with Prime etc. What you've done will send a return request to the seller which he can deny if he wants. But it's a good place to start.

I was able to fill in a return request on the basis that the item was defective. Amazon sent the request to the merchant. So I will wait for their response for 48 hours. If no refund, I will then attempt to go through the A to Z process.
Looking at the order, it does not look like I will be able to initiate the A to Z process as that button will not be there.
Can anyone clarify precisely who (Amazon or the merchant) is responsible for this article? Should I take both to court? Perhaps also the credit card company.....Illegitimi non carborundum

Come on folks - surely this is The Friday Thread?0

I have other issues which have been simmering for a long time.Come on folks - surely this is The Friday Thread?
1.A machine I purchased along with a 5 year extended warranty (willingly purchased as I do like peace of mind) went wrong. The sellers advert promised new for old if the item could not be repaired. Unfortunately it did break down. It took months fof effort to repair and in the end after 5 visits and installing 5 of the most expensive parts, the warranty provider wrote it off. However the exact model was discontinued (replaced by a new model number) and there was an argument as to what happens next. To cut a long story short, I was refunded the original price. I am not happy with that as the machine was on special offer and it cost me more to replace my machine.
2.I purchased a pressure gauge which was guaranteed for 15 years but developed a fault. The manufacturer was happy to replace it upon receipt of the faulty one. Since I needed the gauge in a hurry, I bought another one. That has now also developed a fault. I am now landed with two defective devices and unable to finish the job.
3.A bathroom fan was guaranteed for 2 years by the manufacturer. It went wrong. The manufacturer declined responsibility even though I have the written guarantee. He said my contract was with the seller who has stopped trading.
I am inclined to take them all to court.
Duty calls. I have to sign off. Dont know when next I will be back. I have more important things to attend to. Hence the toilet seat, the pressure gauge, the fan, the inadequate refund and some more things have to go on the back burner.....Illegitimi non carborundum
