I just ordered two black short sleeved, round neck pure silk vests. I am sure they will look fine as layers under my drapey home knitted tops

:j plumber is coming. I did a lot of detective work last night and was able to pin down 2 faults. ch and hot water were both off. I manually put them back on so am sure the faults are the right ones, will save me £££££s as he is carrying both parts on board

Oh Kittie would you mind telling me where you got your silk vests from please? I need a couple of new ones to wear under my fine knit tunics. I am a cold soul, but hate being bundled up in thick things when working indoors.

  • from patra, maddie, had stuff from there from time to time

Stage two of today coming up, I have been out and disposed of a bag of 12 clothing items. Filthy dirty lanes, wet and muddy, so no cycling yet.

Three large drawers are out and sitting on a bed. I spotted three summer, t shirt cotton nighties. Nice and I could have turned into t shirts or knickers but CBA, I only recently realised that much of my tossing and turning bed behaviour was due to their side seams. So bye bye

Break is over and I am very much hoping to turn three drawers into two drawers. Fingers and toes crossed, it is going to take grit and a miracle

Sat here waiting for DS's new bed to arrive. We didn't get a frame in the end, as they just seemed rather too flimsy for a hulking 6 footer. But we got a deal on a 4' divan with storage drawers :T

    Things are looking up....
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • good choice VJ! He can sprawl across at an angle

I had to have a 5 minute change of scene, my bed is covered with enough socks for a family of eight. Arghh. Big cull coming up

Re vests, I found a new tagged merino/silk for the very cold days and another long sleeved fine silk vest in pale pink, also tagged. Both from amazon just a year ago. Three nice bras are out, having done some try-ons behind closed curtains, the sheep farmer is in the field. I found my size a few months ago, at long last, thought I was 42D and am actually 38E but they are all easily fastening on the middle hooks, due to intended weight loss. No point in having more than a few these days

It pays to do that second and third sweep. I found a massive new white pair of down to the knee bloomers, completely unused, the type that I would be embarrassed at anyone seeing if they had to do my room. Needless to say that they are out, heck my body image must have been so bad then

Ok back to it. Sock cull next, done petticoats, vests, nighties and bras

:) Due to it being rainy, I am having a mostly-at-home day and am getting on with some niggling repairs.

Repairing a rucksack with items from my cache of useful stuff; polyester webbing, skinny bungee cords, elastic, velcro etc etc. Have realised that the cache is now in three separate places; the drawer in my sewing cabinet, and divided between two of the three nesting storage boxes which live in the bedroom.

I have been guilty of just chucking stuff every which way, which has led to having to tear up all three areas when looking for items. I have all the stuff out now, mending actively going on, but there will be a sort-out before they all go back, and I intend to have all the notions in the smaller of the two storage boxes, and the fabric in the other, and leave the drawer for tools (sewing and craft, not DIY tools).

I have also found a length of fabric which I will make into four cloth napkins, when I can be arrissed to get the machine out. Three napkins are on their last legs, the fabric is wearing out, so this was at the back of my mind as something to do.

Am pleased to re-acquaint myself with the stash and have found a luxuriant piece of cloth which I am going to take to the juntique shop next week to incorporate into my cunning plan for displaying some christmassy items in the window. It's a loaner rather than a gift, as I really like it, but I know just the thing to stand on it.

:p I fancified and displayed something for him last week and turned his original purchase (£40) into £160 only 48 hrs later - it was in the window for under an hour! I think he's just beginning to believe me when I tell him that HOW something is displayed is almost as important as it's intrinsic virtues, we humans share 98% of our DNA with chimps and 100% of it with magpies.

ooh blimey heck, the sun came out, I put the oven on and went on my cycle ride, came back hungry. You guessed it, I never put my lunch in, too many things in my head

I spaced my undies etc out better so have the equivalent of half a drawer spare. Could make more spare but would have to hang nighties and camisoles and that is pointless. These sets and my silk nightie are old as in at least 20 but being good quality and well made they still look lovely. Must make a point of wearing them next summer, ooh yes I have to, I have no more everyday nighties left

I have umpteen hm scarves, hitchikers and others, beautiful warm scarves and only one neck. shawls, hats, gloves but so be it, I will actually wear them indoors if, like yesterday, my neck is cold. Anyway I am done for today and the equivalent of two large white kitchen bin bags have either gone out or been re-homed

GQ, how something is displayed, oh yes very much so and that is true for my home after KM, when it comes to selling

kittie, you sound like you are having a great day!

KM does let you find out what you really love and it is noticable that many people on this thread have purchased a few treasured pieces, be they inexpensive or real treats, once we have been able to distinguish the wood from the trees.

I have just noticed another knick knack (funny how some things manage to melt into their surroundings and quitely lurk!) that can be released. It is cute but does not spark joy. It's already in the CS bag.

I am also contemplating how / where best to hang some very joyful pictures. They are an eclectic mix, very different in styles and colours, and we have very little wall space to hang them (2 rooms down stairs so there's the front and back doors and doorway between the 2 rooms, obvs a couple of windows and an inglenook firplace!). DH often jokes that, just like the Tate gallery, we have to rotate our art:rotfl:

Yes, GQ, it is indeed a Pembroke table. I have asked DH to measure up the in-laws current much battered table as they mentioned replacing a while ago. Our original one may go to them. I hope so, it is in immaculate condition and will serve someone well. Lucky the original and the new one fold down so we can just about manage to have both here at the same time if we have to.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I just read the paper and am about to do some legs up knitting, I read you post MM and wondered what I had just lurking and not seeing it. I have wine glasses, stemless. I have sherry, champagne, red wine and white wine. I could remove the sherry and red wine glasses at a stroke and would never miss them. Also a decanter of the same make. I think they are riedel O range

Maybe a second pass over that cupboard will be in order next week. My dinner party days are long gone. Good that gives me another objective. Back to legs up and knitting in a sunny window

Are you a capricorn too MM? I think the full moon is affecting me, it energises me, even affects my sleep in a black room

Anyway this capricorn has to be up and doing, once I got your idea in my head, that was it MM. No knitting at all but I have done glasses, vases and all sorts of other bits, including table mats and coasters, I have multiples of those. Eg Glasses are all polished and I have taken the excess out, all in a large old fashioned whicker shopping basket, added crystal creme type small pots, never used for two decades. They will go on the recycling table at the tip tomorrow, the cs have a huge amount of this stuff already. I have added pottery and china including kath kidson, a washed out gift and good luck to anyone who wants to snaffle to sell.

Plastic beakers are out, oil and vinegar bottles, egg cups, jugs. In addition, I actually got around to putting a protective silver coloured shelf liner on the wooden bases at the sides of the closed cupboard. I still have a full roll, lakeland, it is in many places in my house including around my two new toilets as they project from the wall. The two glass shelves on the higher levels at the sides are polished and it all looks lovely, so uncluttered as does inside the cupboard. I have left two lakeland chrome added shelves in the closed cupboard as it increases the available space. I have tiny chinese ritual tea making stuff and they are out of sight now, on a flat tray inside. They did make the glass side cupboard look cluttered

So just a quiet statement on this thread lead to a major result for me. :DTwo large full containers are leaving here first thing tomorrow
