yay, dd has asked me for some of my ,I have too many, large plastic storage boxes. I am hoping to go and help her move a few things at the weekend

Personally I want colder weather to appear as my downstairs and shed are holding lots of bags of wood pellets. 38 in the shed and 18 in the utility and hall. I`ll be laughing if we get slippery conditions but I want the space, as long as I keep a safety net for the coldest months. In future I will buy 6 bags at a time to store. Over half a tonne, in store now and they are clogging my KM brain

Oooh yes, I will donate two warm lovely winter items. One ski jacket will be posted into the salvation army clothes box, someone will love that for winter. I also have a bright red warm unused duffel coat, mostly wool. Do you think I would get that through the slot as well? I will wrap them both as they are quality and clean

I wish my dd and her hubbie had done a bit at a time like me, they would not be in panic mode

We got some stuff put back in the loft at the weekend from decorating the new house. Before they went up I got OH to clear out some old rollers he wouldn't use again so they've been trashed.

I was about to ditch an old lab coat I use when decorating as I have a new one, but our fences and shed will need staining again before we move, so I've decided to hang onto it for now and ditch once the really mucky jobs have been done as the old one is pretty manky. It's sort of Justin, but with a known reason to keep so not quite so bad.

I've just fished out an old camera bag OH and I had a discussion about a few months back, I gave him 6 months to use it......... he's forgotten about it, it's going. As is a sleeping bag last used in 2001. Currently going round in the washing machine. The new house is smaller than our current one, the crAp has got to be reduced.

Doh, I am still dithering about my lovely red duffle
    http://www.orvis.co.uk/p/wool-duffle-coat/4t1e

The top leather toggle fastener was broken and I remember finding a leather strip and repairing it as good as new. I tried it on and never realised it has a zip and a nice cosy fastening under the hood. Its so well made and so soft and lined. Stage two with that coat, it is now hanging in my hall, ready to wear and I will go from there. I bought it in 2010 in an orvis outlet, fixed it then saw my neighbour that winter with an almost identical coat and every winter since, hence me not wearing it but I have grown up about that now. I am going to try and wear it, I should, it would be expensive and is very cheery

I still have two coats to give away tomorrow, I took out a different one, 3/4 MnS, not nearly the same quality plus the ski jacket. Coats, so hard for me to give away, comes from having only one as a youngster and young adult

Tip trip tomorrow too, 10 bags of garden recycling

I'm currently trying to fit the contents of my office, the hall and the sitting room into the rest of the house. Builders are due, and its too late in the year to put furniture in the garage as it'll get damp. So lots of creative packing going on, plus clearing out of kids toys and a whole lot of tatty wrapping paper.

    It still won't all fit.

China & glass and a couple of bits of unimportant furniture can go in the garage, but overall it's going to be a squash. NOt sure how the sofas and chairs will fit in the dining room!

Greenbee can your table stand on one side with the top up against a wall with the chairs stood between the legs with boxes on & under them? Then maybe your sofa can go against the table legs? Can you tell that I have squeezed 1/2 of a 3 bed house into a single garage?!

omg, well that has made me think and I am definitely going to get my new property painted and floored before I move in. Haven`t found one to buy yet but it is the slow season. I want sisal in bedrooms and on stairs and either wood or stone everywhere in living areas. I have sisal and stone here, love them and will never ever want to change flooring once living there. More than one sofa greenbee, arghh, nightmare

All the books are now packed up and put away. Small bits of furniture are pretty much moved. Office curtains and door curtain are down. HUGE pile of paperwork on my desk in the kids' room ... will get builders to move the filing cabinet up there.

A friend wants to buy my sofabed, which solves some problems. I'm intending to replace it at some point, and if she takes it in the next couple of weeks that means I don't have to store it while the work is being done and will have to order a new one for when the building work is finished. Otherwise I'd have kept on putting it off.

Downstairs is looking a bit sad, but at least I feel as if it's nearly ready for the builders. I need to have a go at the garage tomorrow to see if I can clear a bit more space so that a few more robust bits of furniture can be stored out there.

Hopefully I won't need to have anyone staying for a bit... and the builders will work quickly so that I can move at least some stuff back before Christmas!

What are you having done Greenbee? We had 12 weeks of extension work in one house where we had to cram all the living/dining room stuff into bedrooms and the hall way....it was hellish.

Kittie - I love the colour of that coat but you've dithered a lot over it, time to let it go!

I'm having downstairs done Pooky... electrics, filling, decorating, flooring. Floors need levelling as well as the flooring laying, so it makes sense to clear out, get the electrics and filling done (ceilings have holes where lights have been moved or plaster fell out when they did the floorboards upstairs), then screed the floors, decorate and lay the flooring in one go. Hence needing to clear so much of it. They'll do the front of the house, then the dining room, then lay the flooring during which time everything will have to fit in the kitchen.

It will be hellish, but hopefully worth it. Luckily I'll be on gardening leave for most of it so won't be trying to work as well. But as I'll be on gardening leave I want to get more done than originally planned so it is done before I start the new job!

Good luck greenbee, I've been there and it's tough. Just keep thinking of the end!

So glad I sorted jewellery a while back, I could find my poppy pin easily instead of rooting about for ages.
