Another one here who enjoys Sue’s blog and especially love to hear about her adventures around the Suffolk countryside.
Your day sounds lovely Lyn, you are making memories already and your dish sounds perfect. I do try to decorate with the seasons as well. Our weather started off as very misty here but it finally cleared around midday and we have had beautiful sun since, that will mean a beautiful sunset :j
My knee is still sore Candlelight, it does seem to be dragging on a bit this time so have upped the Glucosamine supplement that have been taking to include chondroitin, ginger etc so fingers crossed that will start to help. I still haven’t ridden Lu since the pain kicked off and am sorely missing my horsey fix although still see her every day.
Hope SM and Polly are ok?0 -
I am glad you both read Sue's blog, it is always so interesting, and I loved it when she and Colin had the small holding. She was so strong during Colin's illness and so much driving to hospitals, when she wasn't actually used to driving distances so much. A very brave lady.
Lyn you had a bargain with the pie dish, well done you xx0 -
I also read Frugal in Norfolk, Frugal in the Corner (which is Flowertotmum's),and an American one called 'Generations Before Us' by Grandma Donna which is so full of straightforward common sense and ideas to simplify life, love all of them.0

Yes, I follow quite a few from Sue's blog list, but I am going to look at Generations Before us, sounds interesting, thankyou xx0

Gosh it is quiet on here at the moment.
Well, a really exciting day, waited in all day for the plumber, who of course didn't turn up and no text either.
When we were in Norfolk we went apple picking, so I am still processing these, and had some cooked apple with our rice pudding this evening for dessert, and it was lovely .
Himself went to the tip this morning with some of the rubbish, while I waited in for said plumber, and we have to visit it again tomorrow, and then meeting DD1 in town for coffee. I don't have much shopping to do. Himself is a little brighter, but still falls asleep at the drop of a hat.
Lyn I am so pleased you have chosen your stove, how cosy you are going to be, and well before Christmas.
Nothing in particular planned for Sunday, so perhaps more apple pies and crumbles to be made.
Have a good weekend all xx0 -
Now looking for a sturdy outdoor wood store the right size for the only space we can put it in.....nor terribly successfully! xxx.0

Good morning all,
Pouring with rain today and looks set for the day. Have completed all we wanted to this morning so now Himself is watching the lead up to the Japan GP and I am pottering.
I heard from TA last night, quite late because they were late settling Bob for the night. TAs sister in law took in a bottle of wine yesterday so she felt the need for a large glass, as it turned out, in a plastic beaker!!. She says Bob has come to terms with what is happening, because she says he has a strong faith, unlike her, and quite honestly I can understand that. Her poor Bob has suffered so much, for so long, without any moaning, why should he continue to suffer. I know we all have different beliefs, but it can be hard to understand why such lovely people have to go through so much.
Bob has an air bed and TA sleeps on a reclining chair and it appears she never leaves him, other than to shower and go to the relatives kitchen for drink and food. Tears are never far away for any of them, but I think better that than bottling it up and suffering the consequences later.
I know we all send our love to them , and the courage to deal with the inevitable, and hope that Bob's passing is pain free, tranquil and with his beloved family around him xx0 -
Morning all, a beautiful day here if somewhat chilly.
Waiting for a batch of scones cooling down to take to mums. There have been lots of visitors over the last day or so and she is starting to worry that people are disappointed at the lack of home baking. I have a slightly different view but the easiest thing was to make some empire biscuits last night and scones today to keep her happy.
Whilst I'm desperately sad for the TA's I hope they can take some comfort from having those who matter most around them at this time.0 -
Very damp here today and now the rain has eased Oh so much colder too. I've a big batch of lentil and red pepper soup simmering away on the hob which is making the kitchen smell very fragrant, I've laced it with paprika and tagine spices and a good chunk of garlic so it will be medicinal as well as warming . Looking forward to the rugby on the TV in a few minutes time too and more this evening and again tomorrow. DD1 and James are coming for the day tomorrow so I'm making a steak and onion puff pastry pie for lunch with mashed potato, steamed veg and gravy and DD has asked for a steamed ginger and treacle pudding for afters, we'll never move again!!!
Dear TA is doing all that can be done at this time, tears are needed or the stress is unbearable, natures way of helping her cope. She and Bob are really only sharing the waiting together, they're from the sounds of it being cared for, comforted and surrounded with warmth and support in the best possible place for Bob to be. These days will help in the fullness of the journey even if they are so hard to live through while the journey is still progressing, both of them are brae beyond words and I send my love and prayers for them both for any need they may have xxx.0 -
It’s a very wet and cold afternoon here in East Anglia, despite having sourdough with blue cheese for lunch I’m still hungry so am just enjoying a cup of leek & potato soup, very nice for an instant and just what I need to warm up. Tilly is snoozing in her basket, must be dreaming as well because her little paws are twitching like mad.
We were supposed to be getting a hay delivery today but my hayman texted earlier to say that the gearbox had gone on his truck so, unless he could borrow a replacement, he wouldn’t be coming. Luckily Princess Pony has enough left to last her for a few days more. I will pop over to see her soon but, given the foul weather, will probably do no more than give her a groom in her stable.
Thank you letting us know about TA and Bob Candlelight it is the hardest thing to live through and my heart goes out to them, all we can hope is that all is peaceful when the time comes.0
