Mr TA is home from hospital, I am so pleased for you all. I am sure you will establish a routine regarding the cathetar bag. The main thing you have him with you, you can monitor him carefully and hopefully start to build his strength up.
It must have been such a surprise to know he could come home yesterday, and it always takes some time to collect everything from the pharmacy.
Hopefully you will reach a routine and that you might have some rest as well.
Much love to you both and get those Fortisips down him !! xx0 -

Good morning all,
A beautiful morning here, washing in the machine and we are just about to go and do the weekend shop. Hope everyone is well.
TA had a big box of disposable catheter bags delivered yesterday via the hospital so they were on the ball there. Student Nurse TA is having a little difficulty with these new ones and has a certain amount of washing to do this morning. I wouldn't think any of us would expect to have to change these bags so it will take a while to become used to it. She says he has slept a great deal, but I don't know whether he is managing any fortisips.
TA I do believe you still have your sense of humour, because if you don't laugh I am sure you would cry a lot. At least you are having some support now, I did wonder how often the District Nurse will pop in to see you both.
Please remember we are all thinking of you and Mr TA, and hope he regains some strength now he is home.
Everyone have a good last day of August and make the most of the weather xx0 -
Good afternoon,
Still a glorious day here and the washing is all dried and about to be put away.
I have prepared corned beef hash and green beans for our meal this evening and Himself will have apple strudel and icecream for dessert.
Remembered to phone for our repeat prescriptions, only had to wait about 5 minutes to be answered. I then phoned energy supplier because our present tariff finishes on 1st October. When I eventually spoke to someone, prior to having to input my account number, post code, date of birth inside leg (not really) she was lovely. I said are you able to advise me or do I just have to choose one. She said she could advise me and within a couple of minutes we had decided on which tariff was best for us, so all set. I worry about repeat prescriptions I always have some to spare but Himself sails close to the wind with his, because some are 28 days and some 30, and they were not all prescribed at the same time.
I am not sure what we are doing tomorrow, see how he feels in the morning.
I hope the TAs are having a reasonable day, and perhaps not too many visitors, although it is nice that the people want to see them, but it is also very tiring.
Hopefully Lyn is settling in well and at least the bed will be made up and they will have somewhere to sit. I expect boxes will be emptied as and when contents are needed.
Enjoy the rest of your day xx0 -
Hello! here is me from the 'other side' and its gorgeous here! the move went so smoothly, two lovely chaps picked us up on the 29th and delivered us here the next day and they were fantastic. We had just got down to breakfast in the hotel yesterday at 7.20 when we got a call to say they were 20 minutes away...fastest ever breakfast and the 8 mile dash here to find they'd unloaded all the garden shed things into the sheds and they did the rest in the few hours to 11 o clock. We had help from Nell and James and most of the boxes got unpacked yesterday and we even managed to flatten the cardboard and get it to the recycling skips in the village car park last night. Today we've had the new white goods delivered and James is coming over later to put right some redundant electric cables from a previous cooker and plaster the wall for us bless him. It's such a lovely house I love it so very much and the only thing that is a downside is we find we have a wasps nest in the tree right outside the French doors from the kitchen but we've contacted a pest controller and are waiting for a call back and hopefully he can come and deal with it speedily although I have to say they aren't being a problem in any way. I will now read back over the past couple of days and catch up on all your news but if Mr TA is home again that's a wonderful thing to know and I wish him and TA some peaceful time now, just to catch up on themselves xxx.0

Lyn, it is lovely to hear from you and that everything went smoothly.
I just know you are going to be very happy in your new home and new county.
Love to you both and look forward to hearing from you later when you are settled xx0 -
Quick read whilst supper is cooking and so pleased to read that Lyn is safely ensconced in her new home. It all sounds like it went very smoothly so worth all the hassle arranging the movers to get the good ones
Wishing you and HWK years of happiness in your new home x
Love to all, Capt S is looking forlorn and wants his food so time to go :rotfl: x0 -
Evening lovely people and thanks as always to CANDLELIGHT for relaying from the Daily thread.
Student Nurse TA is having a well deserved break at the minute. I had a busy busy morning with one thing and another, starting with the mountain of washing caused by the coupling of the catheter bed bag coming adrift in the night!!
Then Mr TA decided mid morning it was high time he (that translates as we!) tried out the new shower/bath seat contraption. This resulted in me getting soaked through, the bathroom floor awash and the bath mats floating out of the door! But Mr TA enjoyed his sitting down shower and felt much better for it so that's the main thing! Wm then back on yet again with the said bath mats, my clothes and a pile of wet towels!
After lunch DS called on his way home from an early shift at work, then my DB and SIL called up for a couple of hours. It was nice to just sit and have a natter with them. My DB has been so good these last few weeks since the devastating news that Mr TA's cancer had spread. Visiting the hospital and ringing almost daily for updates. In fact far more than Mr TA's own siblings have been doing.
SCOTTISHMINNIE my old phone (a Nokia Windows phone) used to freeze like that. It drove me mad but I found taking the battery out and then putting it back in again got it going again! When I finally got fed up of doing this I bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy. It serves it's purpose but forever needs charging. But at least it doesn't freeze!!
LYN Happy New Home to you both. Your move sounded to happen unbelievably smoothly.
CANDLELIGHT yes he is managing the odd Fortisip Rasperry Yogurt drink and also the Strawberry Nutrishakes but, sadly, not a lot else. He still manages bit-less soups and also custard but digesting actual food is as bad as ever. He tried a bit of rice pud yesterday but it made him sick.
Have a nice evening each and all and I think I had now better wake up Mr TA as his quick nap has gone on long enough I think. I don't want it spoil his bedtime sleep. Maybe tonight we will have an uneventful night free from dramas with catheter bed bags. Third time lucky maybe!! xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
TA I can picture the scene in the bathroom, you must have had some fun. At leastMr TA felt better for it, never mind the washing.
It was good you could just sit and natter with your brother and SIL. Some sort of normality is necessary to make things bearable. You are only too aware the seriousness of his illness, but sometimes you need to put that to the back of your mind and try to have an hour or so where you just do normal things.
I hope tonight is a little better for you both and you have more success changing the night bag without too much spillage. TA it's a good thing we love our men because of the things we have to do for them.
Try to have a little rest after you have put Mr TA to bed and perhaps a SMALL glass of wine
Heres to a peaceful night xx0 -
That sounds like a cross between Moby Diminutive of Richard and a Tsunami TA, well done the pair of you normally it takes two pickles enjoying themselves to get the bathroom that soaked! xxx.
Wretched filter wouldn't let me say the D I c k name!0
