My so called smart phone is 2 days out of contract and has died. I can't be without one right now so I had to take what Vodafone could offer me and hope that the new one arrives by courier tomorrow. I was so pleased at having negotiated a £15 a month contract yesterday using the old phone as there was nothing wrong with it. Now I'm back to £30 per month because I nobody else could deliver me a phone tomorrow.
These things are sent to try us!0 -
Good morning lovely people. I know I am neglecting you with things as they are but I do try to read along on my phone when I can. And I know dear CANDLELIGHT is relaying info from the Daily thread bless her. I have just posted a long update over there so won't repeat myself.
Hope LYN'S move goes smoothly and without hitch today. SCOTTISHMINNIE Happy New Phone day and hope it arrives safely as promised. POLLY and CANDLELIGHT (HUGS)) and strength looking after your poorly loved ones. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all,
Quite a bright morning, I have a small wash on the go, I have already cleaned the sitting room windows and Himself has gone to the tip to dispose of a cupboard we had in the bathroom, so I might need a coffee shortly.
TA I think a little positive news then on the hospital front, but as Lainey says best not be ill over a Bank Holiday. You will see when you go in whether Mr TA has had any Fortisip. Did his mood seem a bit lighter yesterday with the change of staff? Your breakfast of avocado and poached egg sounds delicious, and hopefully should set you up for whatever the day throws at you. Please tell MR TA we are thinking of him.
I have now showered and dried my hair but I must put a bit of lippy on, as I have become older my lips seem Have disappeared !!
Polly you are having long days with the medical appointments, I hope all goes well over the week.
SM I hope the phone arrives this morning.
Well there must be a very excited Lyn somewhere in this country, of course she might still be in Hampshire, hoovering the floors once the boxes have been loaded on to the removal van, I am sure they will both be very happy.
Have a lovely day all xx0 -
Not so good news on my mums results. It's stage 1 (breast) however the consultant is hopeful that operating to remove what they can followed by 15 sessions of radiotherapy should see it off. She's asked them to delay the treatment until I come back from holiday which I'm not happy about but the consultant seems to be fine with it (sister was with her and confirms this) . Sister is going away for 6 weeks so won't be around so I will have to see what time I can organise away from work. It's a 60 mile round trip each day while she has the treatment so I think I may need to ask for unpaid leave to cover it. I know it could be worse and I need to get a sense of perspective on this but im not there yet:(
Ps- No phone - DPD have sent an email saying they will deliver on Friday and Vodafone say it's in the system now so they can't help;) why do companies make promises they have no intentions of keeping.0 -
So sorry to hear your bad news SM0

SM, I am sorry it has been confirmed, but I would think the prognosis is very good for your Mum. Mine was stage 2, I had a lumpectomy and 25 sessions of radiotherapy and then 5 years of Tamoxifen.
We are very lucky because our hospital is only 15 minutes away, but there were patients in the Radiotherapy Suite who had come from all over the Midlands, so they must have had a very long day. The actual treatment is only minutes, but of course it is the getting there and back. I know it must be a dreadful shock but she will have good doctors and radiographers looking after her so try not to worry too much. I hope your employer is sympathetic because she will need someone to drive her there, and most people have been touched by cancer at sometime in their life.
My op was almost 8 years ago, and I didn't think I would see next Christmas!! You will come to terms with it shortly and I think you will be a big support to your Mum, sending a hug to you SM.
Sorry about the phone xx0 -
Thinking of you SM it must be difficult when the hospital is a far distance away, hopefully your workplace will be supportive of you whilst you support your Mum.
My DSIL has decided against any further treatment for the time being and is now on a scan every six months programme, she was given a 20 to 25% chance of the cancer coming back and the chemo didn’t improve that by much so she has decided against. I can understand why and it would also mean the stoma bag staying put until her body is able to cope with the op to remove. She just wants a normal life as possible and who can blame her.0 -
I've just had a visit from my sister after she dropped mum at home. It's stage 2 not stage 1 as she told me earlier but that is what mum has decided she will tell dad as she thinks he will cope better with that. Not sure I agree with this approach but I will go along with it as I do kind of get where she is coming from.
It sounds almost identical to what you have said Candlelight so that gives me hope that it can be treated effectively.
It looks like little sis may be back just after the lumpectomy has taken place so hopefully she can share the load in terms of taking mum for treatment. Mum is absolutely adamant that both of us go off and have our holidays and nothing will change while we are gone.
We will just have to deal with it one day at a time.
It's the most horrid disease and it feels like it's an epidemic. I suppose many years ago people probably died of cancer but it went undiagnosed compared to now which may be why it feels so widespread if that makes sense.
Lainey - my late grandmother had bladder and bowel cancer and was given a 15% chance after what treatment she had. Like your DSIL she decided against further treatment and lived with both the disease and the bag. She had another 3 years and I would say all but the last 3 months of that she led a good life.
Hugs to one and all and thank you for your kind thoughts. Feels like nobody is in a great place right now but at least we have support here.0 -
Sending (((HUGS))) to TA, sm and Lainey xxx0

Phone update - the new one arrived (unexpectedly as the messages from DPd said it wasn't coming until Friday). Just before it arrived one of my cousins dropped in. I was bemoaning the phone situation when he announced he was sure it was just frozen and he could fix it. Well it took 45 minutes but sure enough he got it working again. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
He did say that as it may go again at any time perhaps the idea would be to use the new one and keep the old one as a back up. Hubby and I both have Samsung phones so seemed a sensible option.
