CANDLELIGHT my go-to-in my-dreams place in Italy is Lake Iseo where we went for our Ruby Wedding. We stayed in a little place that had been built from the ruins of an ancient castle, using the original castle walls at the back. It was set in a pretty walled garden just a stone's throw from the lake. It was as idyllic as it sounds and we swore we would go back but, sadly, illness put paid to that. I still, six years on, have the same photo of the lake as the wallpaper on my computer!
Don't worry about me I shall be back on form tomorrow. Just having a feeling sorry for myself sort of day. Sweet dreams of Italy! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
TA you're doing ALL you can, no one can make this go way but many don't cope as well as you are and it's so hard to go on uphill all the time love, you're doing OK and Mr TA will be appreciating all that you do even if he's too poorly to say so.0

You are an amazing bunch of women and you WILL get through these sad events with as much grace and dignity as it's possible to have, we're all here supporting, we all care and we're here in those dark and weary times when it's all too heavy to carry alone, helping hold you up until you are able to stand straight and strong again, Love you all xxx.
Thank you for this post Lyn, it's just what I wanted to say but didn't know where to start.0 -
TA your go to place in Italy sounds beautiful. Mine is Varenna which is a little village on the shores of Lake Como. So peaceful and you reach it by boat, it just brings a peace to me.
Obviously like you both we have had some wonderful holidays, lots of lovely memories and just sorry there won't be any more. Mustn't be greedy though
I hope you are off out shopping now and that the OT and physio visited this morning and hopefully you will have some help soon
Much love xx0 -
Evening all. A late one from me as it's been a very long day. Just got Mr TA upstairs and tucked up in bed. I am having a relaxing half hour or so to myself before I join him. It will be another in and out of bed night for him and, consequently, me too.
The OT visit this morning with the physio went well. There is an electronic aid thing being attached to the bath which will lower him in to the bath or just provide a seat under the shower, whichever he prefers. They are coming next Tuesday to fit that. Also grab rails beside the front door and a small frame being attached to his side of the bed to give him something to lever himself up and out of bed.
They had no sooner gone than Mr TA's DB arrived to visit him.
This afternoon DD arrived with the 3 girls to go shopping with me to Sainsbobs.. Eldest DGD was going to sit with grandad but the 2 younger ones wanted to stay and look after grandad too bless them. They were given strict instructions to behave, be quiet and do everything grandad told them. I did a really good stock up of the store cupboard as well as all the necessities and spent a small fortune. Shopping has been very hit and miss lately and store cupboard stocks had really gone down. It took me forever to put it all away. The girls had all been very good grandad said and even took charge of the delivery of the chair for the bedroom. I just knew it would be delivered when I was out!
Another busy day tomorrow, with an early start. The tortuous trek to Leeds by hospital transport and we have to be ready and waiting by 8.30. No problem for me as I am a very early riser but it's hard work getting Mr TA up and mobile by that time. I have just been assembling an assortment of snacks and drinks to sustain us through the day as we don't expect to be home again till mid afternoon.
Sweet dreams everyone and in CANDLELIGHT'S case dreams of Varenna! We never stayed on Lake Como but did visit the lake several times on the rickety old bus down the narrow and twisting road from Lugano in Switzerland to Menaggio. A pretty little place with a fantastic lakeside position. We are so lucky to have been able to visit these places and no-one can take our memories away. Night night all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
OH TA, you will have gone now on your long trip to Leeds, I don't know how you both manage it. At least things are moving, albeit slowly. It must be torture for your poor man when he just wants to rest and sleep.
I don't have to do nearly as much as you, but Himself is very slow to get moving and sometimes it is quicker for me to do things myself, but then I don't think I am doing him any favours. At least he can still bath himself and shave.
I am so pleased you had help from the children yesterday, they probably felt quite important looking after \Grandad, and you had help with the shopping and a lift home.
Take care of yourself, will be back later xx0 -
It sounded as if yesterday was a good day TA the girls got to spend some time with their grandad and must have felt happy to be given the responsibility of looking after him. At least your store and food cupboards are now full again, just a little weight off your mind I guess but helpful when you’ve had a rough day and can just grab something.
Hope today isn’t too bad and you get home reasonably early x0 -
DGD1 . has arrived safely in Paris and has already been up the Eiffel tower. She has gone with 2 friends and they are there until Monday.
TA you must both be exhausted this afternoon, sort Mr TA out and then try to have a rest yourself.
I am glad you have been to Lake Como, on one of our visits we stayed at a hotel in Menaggio just by where the boats came in, and saw the most spectacular storm over the lake at night. So we both have Italian places to go at night to calm ourselves, happy memories, when our men were fit and healthy, hang on to that.
Lainey I keep meaning to ask what did you think of the end of The Unforgotten? When they arrested the doctor in the 5th episode I said it couldn't be him because it was too soon, but I wasn't prepared for what happened in the last episode. I hope Cassie (Nicola Walker) doesn't leave she is a marvellous actress. xx0 -
We so enjoyed the Unforgotten, we didn't know it as a series and are going to catch the other two when we're settled. It was a series of twists and turns and unexpected developments that had us completely looking at everyone even the wives but never for a moment did I seriously consider the Doctor except for that complaint against him which was dismissed much too easily by the Medical fraternity. I did wonder if he was really the good person he seemed to be but then his behaviour to Chris the guy in the van was so supportive I decided he couldn't be a baddie, well written and entertaining in that it made us actually 'think'!
TA hang on in there love, glad you got out of the house for a while yesterday and managed to restock the cupboards, sometimes just a couple of hours out of the stress is beneficial. That old 'a change is as good as a rest' is true isn't it?
I've been packing boxes again today and have shaved the kitchen down to the top half of two cupboards for all the food left and all the crocks and pans, we're getting there!0 -
Lyn, I am so excited for you, a new beginning in a new house in a new county.
Yes I thought that complaint was dismissed very quickly, and clearly his second wife knew something although we never found out what. Yes you must watch the other 2 series, we didn't watch the first until it was repeated and then we were hooked xx0
