  • Morning lovely people. I won't go over the same ground I posted on the Daily last night and again this morning (I am a good waffler!) but wanted to add my thanks to the little supportive group on here also. POLLY I swear I have been smelling your Lavender candles throughout our current drama. The scent is enhanced by the Lavender drops I put on my pillow every night! SCOTTISHMINNIE my thoughts are with you too. LYN not long now to D Day! CANDLELIGHT, as always, your kind words keep me going through the dark days and long nights.

Have as lovely a day as you can folks and take care xx

Thank you again dear Candlelight for the update on MrTA . I did post over there once but don't like butting in . It's still cold wet and windy here and feeling like November . It seems it may improve in a day or two . DD has three appointments this week so I hope it does . Hope your trip to Marks goes well with no rain . I spotted some lovely leather ankle boots in there a couple of weeks ago but was cutting through in a hurry . Tried them on last week and they're perfect . My last ones are still going but after about 7 years looking a bit tired . I wanted some new socks and picked up a 3 pack of lovely medium weight pairs . They were priced at £10 a pack when I went to pay the woman on the till said they were reduced to 97p a pack as the winter stock will be arriving . She asked would I like any more and fetched the 2 remaining packs so reduced from £30 to less than £3 not bad for 9 pairs . I also had a sparks voucher so got the boots reduced !

TA You sound calmer today and more rested . I hope you feel that way . It is just one day at at a time at the moment . I try to focus on the day and not allow my thoughts to run ahead of me as it's exhausting and pointless . Concentrating on the care and treatment and making sure it is as it should be is enough . You need to look after yourself to look after Mr TA and day to day life .
I've been a lover of Lavender all my life . It's calming and as you've discovered helps sleep . DD was lulled to sleep many a night by a pillow spray or dabs of oil on her pillow . If I had a £ for every time I've sent Wolfy and others lavender wafts via the candles I'd be pretty well off .
As for waffling I'm a waffler too :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    Hope today goes well x

Wishing everyone a good day if possible . Thoughts with SM and Laineys sil also Himself .
    Nearly there Lyn !

    love polly x

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Hello, thanks Polly yes, we're nearly there and just doing the last few bits like unplumbing the washing machine and sorting out the veg rack and getting it all nice and clean. Much of the home is packed and all that's left out is what we're currently using. We went out for jacket potatoes at the garden centre for lunch which was lovely, not just having food prepared for us but not being in an echo chamber and not being in amongst the boxes. One day to go which in many ways will be the most difficult of all because it's trying up ends day and finishing bits day and the visits will come which will be emotional however the end result on Wednesday will be more than worth the disruption and turmoil of moving and I'm raring to go with the newness. We'll have broadband when we get there but it will take a few days to get us in and vaguely sorted so I may not be around until the weekend. See you on the other side xxx.
  • Hello all,

Thank you Polly, I just relay what TA says to save her repeating it and also I know not everyone looks at the Daily Thread. 3 medical appointments in one week is a bit much particularly if they are at different venues. If your poor DD isn't feeling up to it as well it must be hard. I hope all goes well for her.

Lainey I hope your DSIL is still recovering well and feeling a little more like herself. I know when I started treatment I said to Himself that I didn't feel like ME. I know that sounds odd, but that was how I felt, but everything returned to normal eventually.

Lyn, all systems GO now, just tomorrow to get through, probably the hardest day just waiting and having to say your goodbyes, but then a new adventure for you both.

SM I hope you had a pleasant tea with your Aunt and cousin and hopefully they managed to lift the mood a little. It is unfortunate your DH isn't allowed to speak to the doctors, families are such complex things, I hope something can be resolved there, it seems a little unfair.

TA I hope you found DH reasonably well when you went visiting this afternoon, hopefully another "good" day xx

Enjoy the rest of your day
  • Awake and up very early this morning, butterflies of the excited kind just beginning to flutter today, at some point we shall be packing the computer so this might be my last visit until we're out and set up again at the other end, if so I just wanted to say I'll be thinking of you all and wishing the poorlies and those caring for them all the best, look after yourselves and I'll catch up with from the 'other side' xxx.

Will be thinking of you today Lyn, hope all goes well as possible love xx
  • Lyn- fingers crossed for everything to run smoothly today. It's all very exciting now that it is finally here:)

Candlelight - MIL has delegated any discussions with the specialists to the youngest of her offspring rather than FIL which we think odd but hey ho. Unfortunately said offspring is revelling in their perceived power and there are now multiple rifts in the family. We will simply need to play it by ear on a daily basis and hope that if we need to cancel or, heaven forbid, return home at some stage we can get access to the right people to evidence that we were not advised not to travel.
What some people seem to delight in making difficult situations worse I will never know - isn't life complicated enough:(

Dry here today but a lot colder (I actually had the central heating on last night as it dropped below 10 degrees)- could do with some sunshine though as I have masses of tomatoes which need to ripen. I think they should all be ready early next week at which point I will be frantically making soup so as not to waste them!
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • SM, didn't I say families are very complex, I wonder why she decided to give all power to the youngest, rather than her husband, or if she thought he was too frail, then all the children.

Well Lyn you will probably be sitting in an almost empty house this evening, I wish you a safe journey, and a wonderful life in your new home.

TA, I really hope you have been able to put your point over at the hospital today, it really is unacceptable that Mr TA is treated the way he is. How on earth is he going to get stronger if he doesn't have the nutrients from his diet. Have they not looked at his notes regarding his difficulty with eating and digesting. It isn't any wonder he felt down yesterday, I think he is marvellous to have put up with this for so long without lowering his mood. I don't know anything about PALS but clearly the advice from Floss and others is get in touch with them and make your fears clear to them.

I know it is a big responsibility but you are the only one fighting his corner here, he is your man and this is what you do, what we all do when our men are ill. I know you are exhausted, but you sounded more upbeat yesterday because he had a reasonable day the day before. Time to kick a few b*ms and perhaps you could have him moved back to the hospital he likes.Sending you both love and hugs xx
  • Woohoo all is packed, all is cleaned except the downstairs floors because they are covered in boxes and we're ready to go. Pub meal booked later this evening and removals men coming at 9 tomorrow morning, it's most exciting this moving malarkey!!!

Quick post from me . It's been a long day and we're out early tomorrow .
TA I hope things are better today . I learned during dds hospital stays that weekends and bank holidays were pretty much skeleton staff often agency . Now it's normal results should be forthcoming . With regard to food if the problems are at ward level it is worth asking to speak to Matron . A lot of people forget they are there nowadays . We encountered two . Young , efficient and more like the Nightingale nursing model . My goodness can they sort things fast one told a consultant surgeon to sort himself out and do his job .
All your computer stuff will be packed away now Lyn but I wish you a good day tomorrow as you head to a new chapter of your lives .

    Take care all .
