We really enjoyed the latest series Candlelight and like you, when the doctor was arrested in episode 5, didn’t think it would end up the way it did. I thought the actor, sorry can’t remember his name, played a very good part, he was so cold and matter a fact about all the atrocious things he had done. I really hope that there will be another series.

You sound nearly ready to go Lyn, both physically and mentally, what an exciting new chapter in your life.

Capt S is home after managing to avoid the worst of the holiday traffic and is now sat on the sofa, drinking coffee and watching Tipping Point :D

Thinking of the TA’s and hoping their day hasn’t been too bad.
  • ,I have just read the Daily Thread to see Mr TA has been taken to hospital again. TA I am so sorry you must be exhausted and hope you manage to have a nap before the day starts again for you.

He is in the right place, they will look after him and perhaps start the antibiotics again.

Sending love to you both xx
  • Good morning,

As promised heavy rain here this morning, really quite miserable. We won't be going anywhere and the Grand Prix is on this afternoon so we will be all cozy.

Still more bad news on Mr. TA and he has been transferred to another hospital to have that stent removed. TA always suspected it was responsible for some of his health issues, and now he is very poorly again. It makes you wonder how 2 lovely people can be given so much and be expected to cope. Sending love and hugs and hope Mr TA is more comfortable after the operation.

DGD is home from Paris tomorrow, hopefully she is having a good time, she did text to say they had checked into the hotel, had lunch and been up the Eiffel tower, so they didn't waste much time.

SM I hope everything is as well as it can be and that your Mum is OK after her procedure, the waiting for the results is the difficult bit.

Take care everyone and much love xx
  • Heavy rain here too, it started round 10.30 and is lashing down still, lovely for the gardens which are still looking parched and brown round here. The big freezer went to it's new home yesterday and the larder fridge goes this afternoon at teatime which leaves us with no fridge until Friday when we're getting a new fridge freezer delivered to the new house. I've still got the tiny under counter freezer and we'll run with a cold box and freezer blocks for a couple of days as I can refreeze blocks and I've got 4 big ones, We're virtually packed, all that needs packing now will be our bedding and the last two of everything crockery etc. wise from the kitchen that we're still using. Roll on Wednesday though I must say I'm feeling rather better today and not gloomy like yesterday, full Lyn restored.

Sad to hear that Mr.TA is poorly again poor man and poor TA too because in this situation all you can do is wait, and pray, and hope and that's gruelling but we're with you TA in spirit M'dear and have a hand under each elbow and at your back to keep you steady, you're not alone and we're sending our love and hope to you both too xxx.

Thank you Candlelight for the update on MrTA . Poor TA has certainly got a heavy load to bear right now . I hope at some point in the day someone makes her eat a little and try to get some rest .
I can remember when my 1st husband was terminally ill I couldn't remember the day of the week or even the month sometimes . Days were a haze and when it was time to grab some sleep the thoughts raced around my head as I tossed and turned .
I hope the op goes well TA and you'll have him home soon x

Well I went to bed on Wednesday and seemed to wake up to November on Thursday . very cold , wet and windy since . We were out all day on Friday and chilled to the bone . Hot water bottles now at bedtime !

Today I've decided is official Flannelette bedding day so expect either a heatwave or Indian summer to arrive . If it means drier and sunnier days I'll take one for the team :D I'll be happy as long as we don't get the awful heat and humidity .

Hoping all is well SM and with Lainey's SIL and Himself .

Wishing all a good day if possible and hope your weather is better than here .

    love polly x

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Just popped in for a minute. Still manic at my end.. MIL was expected to get home, albeit it supported by McMillan nurses etc however she has deteriorated a bit so it's all a bit up in the air at the moment. We are due to be away In 10 days, right now hubby says we should go but I'm now torn between calling the insurance company or not. I'm worried they will make us cancel rather than allow the decision to be ours. Unfortunately hubby isn't allowed to speak to any of MIL's consultants or specialists so we don't really have an educated opinion to help us.

Sending my thoughts to TA and Mr TA. It's a horrible situation and absolutely exhausting for all those involved, both mentally and physically.

I misread one of the earlier posts and thought I had missed something - I though Lyn was moving to another country not another county. For some reason I immediately though of the south of France and an old country house surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Amazing how quickly your mind gets it wrong!

Absolutely miserable here, was 5 degrees this morning which was a surprise. I'm still overheating though as I have a baked cheesecake in the oven so it's giving off plenty heat. My aunt and cousin are due round for coffee anytime which will be nice. Good to have a change of faces sometimes.
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • SM you paint a lovely picture of Provence, we went there one year it was gorgeous. We stayed in Avignon but travelled round seeing fields of sunflowers and also lavender. I still have 3 provencal table cloths I bought, and I bought several as presents.

Your life isn't any easier either, and faced with the dilema of whether to cancel in time or not. Enjoy your cheesecake and the time spent with your Aunt and cousin and perhaps your might even have a laugh with them xx
  • Not another country SM …..up country by some 2 1/2 hours but having already lived in another country I KNOW that the UK warts and all is best for us even with Brexit looming. I loved our time in Germany and I really love going back there to visit but here is home and I know how the systems work and that's priceless.

SM is your dh not being allowed to talk to the consultants and others regarding his mother coming from her or possibly his siblings . It certainly doesn't seem right to me that her son should not have the right get the full picture himself unless the patient has said so .
I'm sorry she wont be home as expected but at least care is sorted for when she is . No advice I'm afraid re the holiday . If you had better information it would be easier . As your husband at the moment is keen to go ahead it puts you in a dilemma .

Only a few days Lyn and you're on your way at last . I'm sure after all the organising and thinking ahead it will go smoothly . Don't forget the bikkit trail !

The bedding change hasn't worked its magic yet but I live in hope .
I have to say your mention of Freezers , Ice packs etc had me clutching my hot water bottle Lyn .

SM I often misread something so it's not just you . In fact I was fuming at the behaviour of the doctor discussed a few posts up the thread . It took a while to sink in it was a doctor in I assume a tv series .

  • Good morning,

Hopefully no rain today, it hardly stopped yesterday, very miserable.

For those who didn't see TAs late post yesterday, Mr. TA was more comfortable when she left him last night. When she phoned the ward in the morning he was very confused, but by the time she went in the afternoon with her Son he was much more lucid. They are holding fire on the op and have given him a cathetar, and that part of his body seems to be working better. TA I hope you enjoyed your glass of wine, and hopefully managed more sleep last night. I know you said you accept there are going to be good days and not so good, but I hope today is another good one. Your lovely man deserves a break, as do you. There are so many people willing him on, so if love, vibes and hugs can make him well all his days will be good.

We have to pop to M&S later to pick up an order, but not a lot planned. DGD will be home shortly so I expect she will want to sleep this morning and I will do a roast for our evening meal.

Have a good day all xx
