  • If it all goes pear shaped we'll just go back on the market and start all over again, no alternative. I think she's just old womany she's rung a couple of times on He Who Knows phone and he's not a 'chatty bloke' even on a good day and kept him listening for an hour plus each time with many trivialities and not much to do with the house here. We'll get there I'm sure either with this buyer or another one!

We have the most gorgeous drying day out there today so I've stripped all the beds and the mattress protectors and they're blowing beautifully in some nice not too hot sunshine. The weather app says clear for a minimum of 2 hours and it will all be dry and back in airing cupboard or on the beds by then, lovely!

Snap! I have just hung out bedding for two double beds as the rain we had this morning has stopped. I have also stripped my king size bed and am letting it air for a few hours before I wrestle with putting on nice clean sheet and duvet set.

Fingers crossed that legal stuff goes through quickly.
  • Afternoon lovely people. I was worn out after my long waffle on the Daily this morning so never got on here! Anyway shopping done and put away. I was going to be MSE and go to Aldi but thought oh blow it, I don't need much I'll go to Sainsbobs instead! Mistake! I spent a small fortune as it's too easy to get carried away in there!

As Mr TA is still mainly surviving off his Nutrishakes, soup-with-no-bits-in etc he surprised me by asking me to get some corn on the cob! Where's that idea come from I said! Apparently he had been watching the lovely James Martin do some, serving it dripping in butter as he does, and he couldn't stop wanting some to see if he could still digest it! So his bizarre lunch incorporated a cob and, amazingly, he managed to eat it - albeit slowly.

CANDLELIGHT I hope all goes well for DH on Monday and he isn't too stressed worrying about it all morning. Mr TA's scans are in the afternoon too but I worry more than he does! He just takes things as they come. My SIL was telling me on the phone yesterday about a man she knows who was diagnosed with MS and, as the disease has progressed, his whole personality has changed and he is dreadful to live with. Fortunately, despite all the illnesses that have clobbered Mr TA over the last 5 years, he remains the same laid back and easy going chap I married.

This morning's rain has moved on and we now have blue sky and snowy white clouds floating about. But the wind is feeling quite nippy. I'm not complaining though as the escalating temps got too much for me over these last few weeks.

Have a nice afternoon people xx

  • Hello all,

Well we still have refreshing rain, just gentle no risk of flooding, and you can almost hear the garden soaking it up. I think it must have rained most of the night but I didn't hear it because I slept the sleep of the innocent!! It is was so lovely and cool and when I woke up I really felt rested.

Not doing much today, we will be watching the Grand prix highlights early evening. Himself loves motor racing and it isn't a chore for me to watch it either. We have our favourites, his is Lewis Hamiton and mine is Daniel Riccardo, he nearly always has a smile on his face even when the chips are down. His parents must be very proud of him.

After that we have Unforgotten at 9 pm, such wonderful acting and always a story line where you don't know who it is until almost the end. This is drama at it's best.

TA did Mr TA manage the corn on the cob. I was imagining him eating it with butter running down over his chin. I hope you gave him a tea towel to save his shirt. I read your post on the daily thread, that is quite frightening about your DGDs friend. So often you read stories like this, and as we very well know if they "meet" on line it could be absolutely anyone, I hope everything turns out OK.

Have a good day all and TA good luck tomorrow, I know you won't have the results then but I will be thinking of you both xx

Like you Candlelight I slept much better last night, we had just a sheet and summer weight blanket but it was perfectly cosy and I didn’t stir once until I woke up at 6.30.

It’s very windy here with squally showers so the garden is taking a bit of battering, have just been out to the bin and had to stand up a pot of lavender that had fallen on its side, it’s now tucked away in a more sheltered spot.

I didn’t get to have a blast on Lu yesterday as they still haven’t cut the fields but we did have a wander down the track, followed by a game of “ lets learn something new “ :) This time it was when Mum taps you on the knee, you lift your leg. It didn’t take clever girlie very long to get it, especially when she realised that she got a treat for her endeavours :D Its all about positive association for when I call her a good girl and how that can help in our ridden work.

Right, time to get some lunch going, neither of us fancy much so will most likely just be some cold chicken and salad. We like the Unforgotten as well so have that to look forward to, along with the last stage of the tour.

Hope all appointments go well tomorrow, love to all x

Lovely, lovely rain still gently falling and has been since the early hours, bliss! Waking to the sound it pattering on the window and feeling chilly enough to pull on the folded blanket at the foot of the bed, the thought that the water butts are filling and the parched garden and my poor lawn were being watered in such a way as to let them recover rather than have it run off, I've been praying for this day for a long time and I'm so enjoying every second of it!
  • Afternoon lovely people. We had steady away rain most of the night and it carried on this morning. Now we are having a slight respite so I just nipped out with a bag of rubbish, the recycling and to feed the birdies. I had to play hunt the water dish which had somehow got dislodged from its holder and ended up at the top of the garden!

Yes, CANDLELIGHT, Mr TA did manage his corn on the cob, dripping butter all down his chin!! It took him a while but he got there in the end! It was a treat to see him tackle something other than a nutrishake or some other liquidised concoction!

I haven't heard anything further about the missing schoolfriend of DGD. Her poor parents must be frantic but, apparently, it's not the first time she has run away. DD said she would let me know of any developments.

I should be catching up on jobs neglected through the heatwave but I am in messing about mode sadly!

Enjoy your afternoon whatever the weather is treating you to xx ps what a clever girl Lu is LAINEY.

  • Hi have been to the blue and yellow shop this morning as I broke a bowl and needed to replace it and it was heaving with badly out of control children. I got what I wanted and headed home, I can't understand how parents can let strings of youngsters play chase round the exhibits and run straight in front and round and round other people in there screaming all the while and not say a word. I expect they're used to the behaviour in the house but it's dangerous in a crowd and dangerous for older people without good balance, I saw several nearly go over. Parents oblivious on their phones! I think the mobile phone is a useful thing to have but it feels as though it's become more real to the younger generations than real life itself and they are more focused on their screen and it's contents than their offspring! not good is it?
  • Good afternoon all,

Lyn, my pet hate. I don't know whether you have noticed this scenario, but some Mums with pushchairs waiting to cross the road edge forward so the child and pushchair are over the edge of the kerb and they are concentrating on their phone. Goodness knows what would happen if a vehicle came so close to the kerb and the Mum was too engrossed in her messages to pull the pushchair back, doesn't bare it.

Well the sun is shining now but we had a lot of rain during the night thank goodness, and once again a more comfortable night for sleeping.

Hospital appointment for Himself went well. There is a slight improvement in his kidney function, BP was fine and he had lost 3 kilos. They want him to have more bloods done to check his iron levels are OK. Unusually we were seen before the appointment time and actually found a parking space at the hospital relatively easy. This is probably because of summer holdays, so perhaps some clinics were not sitting or patients may have cancelled appointments because they were on holiday,

TA you must both be very tired today, both mentally and physically. Our hospital is only about 20 minutes away but I know you have further to travel. Is Mr TA managing any more shakes? Can he tolerate things like icecream or Angel Delight, or is milk a no no? Look after yourself and be kind to yourself, you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself now and again, being a carer is hard and emotional work.

Polly, are you feeling any better, I know when there are underlying health issues everything takes so much longer to recover? Take care.

Lainey I hope you have been able to take Lu out. How is your SIL progressing, is she feeling a little more comfortable now?

Have a good afternoon all xx
  • I saw one mum doing just that as I waited for the bus this morning, baby in a pushchair, older girl trailing behind and crossing on a blind bend in the road totally focused on her phone, It's a disaster waiting to happen isn't it?
