  • Evening folks. CANDELIGHT a bit of good news re Himself yesterday. We have to wait about 2 weeks they say for the result of yesterday's scans. Why does it have to take so long?!

The OT visit this afternoon turned out to be a physio visit! However, she was very thorough and has given Mr TA some gentle exercises to do sitting down. (That sounds like my sort of exercise!) She is coming back again next Wednesday, this time with the OT to decide what can be done in the bathroom to help make bathing/showering easier. I had such a struggle trying to get him out of the bath a couple of weeks ago that we have abandoned baths for now. He can't stand/balance long enough in the shower so we have been utilising an old buffet for him to sit on while I shower him! Not ideal but its worked to be going on with!

Hope POLLY is feeling a bit better ditto LAINEY'S SIL. (HUGS)) all xx

    Evening all.
Just popping in briefly to say hope everyone is well. It has rained here since Friday night and temperature hasn't risen past 18. I do hope summer isn't over. We have the central heating on tonight as its cold and damp.

Have even rolled up the hose and sprinkler :(

  • Hello, nice day out there, not too hot and a nice breeze too. I had a lovely early walk with Maisie and her mum this morning along the footpaths through the woods, down to the shore and then along the coastal path to the park on the river it was really nice and we met two Basenji's fab little dogs who don't bark but yodel instead. The shedding of things and the packing of things continues apace and we have the last removals firm coming this afternoon to assess us and they give an on the spot quote so all we need then is actual confirmation that we've exchanged and we can book, 4 weeks? we'll see.

It’s a smashing day here as well Lyn, blue sky, the occasional fluffy white cloud with a cooling breeze. The washing is all up to date, as is the ironing :j so am about to watch a bit of the cricket before heading over to the yard. Lu had the day off yesterday with just a good groom to cope with, today she will need some exercise but will see how inspiration strikes when I get there. Perhaps some grid work over trotting poles to get her little horsey brain working.
Had a chat with DSIL this morning, no sign of a discharge date yet as they are going to do another CT scan, think that they are still worried about infection etc and by her own admission she is still struggling. Will get over to see her tomorrow.

Glad to read that the hospital appointment went well Candlelight, well done on the parking space.

    Hope Polly is well x

    Love to all x
  • The on the spot quote will be with us tomorrow morning!
  • Hello all,

Weather hasn't been bad today, not much sun but quite comfortable.

Haven't done a lot, I had a nail appointment this morning so out quite early. Usual housework and a bit of washing, and then after lunch I tried to tidy the front garden. The plants that had died in pots I took out because garden rubbish will be collected this week. Sprayed a few weeds at the side of the path and gave everything a good sweep. The trees seem to have shed a lot of leaf so much earlier because of the drought.

Lyn, it sounds as though you are another step nearer now she has actually signed, and soon you will know who is going to move you, not long now.

TA, ideally a wet room would be the answer wouldn't it, but you have had all that work and expense with the kitchen. It must be exhausting for both of you, and I am sure you must be worried that DH might slip in the bath. When Himself had those dreadful leg ulcers 2 years ago we couldn't do either, shower or bath, because they needed to be kept dry, so back to the old days of a strip wash.

SM it is good to "see" you, I think we have all taken a little break.

Polly how are you, Candlelight waves.

    Have a good evening xx

    TA

When I had a DD who was too poorly to stand up in the shower I bought a shower stool (£3 from a local charity shop.) DH initially thought I was silly but for £3 for something that could be used a handful of times and then re donated it was well worth it.

Do you have any plastic garden chairs that would fit in the shower ?
  • Morning lovely people. A nice day is promised. Yesterday was cloudy and rather chilly and then in the evening it got really warm. A strange sort of day weatherwise.

ELONA I tried a garden chair initially (sort of mesh not plastic) but it didn't feel safe so resorted to the ancient buffet. I shall wait for the OT visit before investing in a proper shower chair/stool and see what they suggest. CANDELIGHT yes a wet room would be lovely but, like you say, after the expense of the kitchen we are tightening our belts a bit! Plus we have some much needed decorating booked for September (lounge, hall and stairs) and I am hoping it will run to a new carpet in the lounge! Everywhere has been so neglected through the last 5 years of illness and it's getting me down!

Mr TA is off for a little drive around the lower Dales at lunchtime with his DB (stopping off at a nice beer garden for an orange juice) which he is looking forward to. It's now got into a fortnightly event and he enjoys the bit of time with his DB. I, meanwhile, will be having fun in the supermarket doing the weekly shop!

Have a nice day if you can and Mrs LW I hope you get a definite moving date pretty soon. x

  • Thank you TA! do you have a Red Cross Medical Loan facility anywhere near you? you might find they have a shower chair that you could borrow indefinitely, worth checking?
