That sounds a good idea greenbee :D
  • I am finding everything very quiet everywhere at the moment. I was in Asda today at around 4pm and it was empty. The roads were so empty of vehicles I had to wonder whether there was a carnival or something on locally. No, just eerily quiet with payday just gone it didn't seem right somehow.

The butchers van, the bakers, the grocers - all came to her, not her going to them. And that really made me think, you know? It sounds so much more peaceful than life for most now.

Yeah it'd be good if you got your groceries delivered. Pity Sainsbobs never started that idea,

    Oh ... hold on ....

Everything was delivered. The general grocer, the fishman, the butcher, Corona lemonade, etc., onion seller, Pink Paraffin man, greengrocers. My mother would walk the mile or so into the village, order everything up and walk home. She might have carried a pack of cigarettes and a couple of balls of wool etc. but everything else was delivered by vans or boys on bikes. Some goods were paid in cash and others were paid by monthly account. It was a lot easier but a rather isolated existence really.

  • Living Proof gosh that brings back memories :). I really looked forward to the bakers van coming round with his tray of cakes as I always had a trifle, nothing else would do :naughty:. My DH was sent to the bakers every a Saturday for 6 loaves, he was about 9 and was expected to carry them on his bike from about a mile away. It was his job being the oldest boy . The bread lasted the family all week without going stale and no freezers back then. Everything else was ordered from a local shop to be delivered on a Monday.

I went into town this morning, it was like Caseys Court and I was there just after 10 am. Luckily I was only collecting DGD birthday toys from a well known store and back home quickly. Think everyone has descended here :rotfl:

Sending hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.

  • Ivyleaf I'm jealous of you and your kitten, enjoy the antics :j. I think cats are much more fun ( IMO ) and I still miss my two :(

Aw, nan :( We hadn't actually intended to have another cat at present, 2 years after losing the last one, but a friend of DS's who had wanted only one kitten (their family already had an adult cat) found himself being presented with two, so was looking for a good home for one of them, so I said we'd have him, and we're all very fond of him after only 2 weeks. I heard DS chatting to him this morning, saying "You're a very personable little cat, aren't you?" :D

You sound a little more upbeat, burtha , all that running is doing you good. Good to hear your DD is getting help. If your ex is trying to fiddle the numbers, then your bank statements should tell the true story, plus his old payslips, if you still have them. He'll get caught out, one way or another.
