We've just had a minor panic when I discovered we had no hot water. Was just about to ring Homecare when DH found that he had left the hot tap running in the bathroom!0

I can stop feeling guilty for having my oil filled radiator on a couple of times.
I still have not filled in all this paperwork but I have collected income and expenses together. now the problem is turning it into monthly income and bills. I have 4 sources of income 3 paid 4 weekly and one paid calendar monthly. I think I am under paying my electricity, I paid in advance for my line rental.
I used to enjoy maths at school but I think I am just finding excuses not to do it because it looks too complicated. I also have to work out which bit of my housing benefit is for council tax as they want them separate. The have lumped things together that I would not and split things I pay in one bill so more maths.
I spent hours yesterday looking at both Hanover's and Anchor's web sites. I found 6 Anchor schemes in Halliwell. I thought some of those were private nursing home. One is 5 minutes walk away and the others are all within half an hours walk of this flat. I don't mind which one I live in. I now know why Hanover does not have any in Halliwell.
I also learned that they are amalgamating in the Autumn, partly for economies of scale and so they are not competing for funds to build more flats.
I thought at first I could not afford the rents at Anchor but they then explained about the government changing their minds about taking away from housing benefit from the cost of sheltered housing services like managers, and running, the common parts of the building, It will cost the government more to pay for care for those who don't move to sheltered housing. Part of the rent is for central heating so I would be paying that anyway. People who go into sheltered housing live nearly 10 years longer than people who stay in their own homes. Anchor also let you have pets too.
I think I will take away a big worry with not having this housing association. I will definitely be better off in terms of peace of mind, especially over repairs.
Vegpatch I have never read the kondo thread but when I sorted out my stuff when DS moved out I put all of my clothes into summer coldest part of the winter and put spring and autumn together as temperatures are similar. It's much easier to find what you want. I did discover some things in draws that I had forgotten I had.
I will seriously think about putting the heater on in this room tonight. I just wish I could stop the heat coming out between 10am and 4pm. I don't think they are ever going to bother to put central heating in these flats. I will be glad to get central heating.
Sorry I have written a book again. :rotfl:0 -
For some reason its actually warmer outside than it is in my house today,it's been chucking it down all day,I took the dog out earlier and put a jumper and coat on and got too warm, now I'm back home I've got my jumper back on,I'm going in the loft later to get the heater out, the house feels really damp todayOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200

Good luck with Anchor, nursemaggie x
Vegpatch I can definitely recommend ice cream with chocolate and hazelnut spread
It's certainly been chilly today; I started out with a 3/4-sleeved thin jersey top, then changed to a thicker quality long-sleeved one, and ended up in a warm jumper!
It's been so hot here for so long that I suppose it's bound to take a while to get acclimatised again to normal August weather.0 -
I'm so cold here I haven't wanted ice cream in some time! Looking forward to summer and getting the machine out again. And now you lot tell me it's getting chilly there, just in time for my arrival :rotfl:
I used to love the choc hazelnut spread too. Now I make a sort of sugar free low carb almond/cocoa/coconut oil/peanut butter fudge. It's very good, great texture that melts.
Nursemaggie, glad that you're finding some new possibilities with the rules changing. Best of luck you get something soon xxSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff that sounds delicious0

I Just dropping in to show my face. For those who don't know I've been on my holidays.
I should be sleeping but I can't drop off. I'm afraid there's nothing to report and I'm not upto anything exciting. I'm just in resting mode. Prolly why I can't sleep - I haven't burnt any energy.
It is cold isn't it? I'm having to use the humble dryer in August and that sticks in my craw a bit.
Well as you can see I'm lost for words and having nothing to say  Maybe I'm tired after all. G'night.0 -
Yes fuddle you probably are but when I'm tired I type in anagrams. I can't sleep either. It's still cold in here 17 degrees so I don't think I put the heater on. Did the weather spoil your holiday? It seems to have been raining everywhere.
I think I may be tired now. Goodnight.0 -
It has def been raining here, that's all I will say about the weather! Up drinking tea, woke all stiff and sore.0
