Chilly here too. I have to get out of bed to put the bins out and I'm not looking forward to it. I usually do that the night before but it was so windy last night that I dared not do it. I live on a corner and the wind is apt to blow bins over.
Cue me in night attire running around collecting rubbish from hedges and pavements.

enjoy your bank holiday folks. They don't have a lot of meaning when you've retired, do they?

    Morning all,

Just making a cup of tea and then up and at it - ds1, girlfriend and her mum coming for snack lunch - "just bread and cheddar" been requested. First time to meet the "inlaw" so sprucing up house.

Yesterday did not go as planned due to water running through kitchen ceiling. Got hold of local emergency plumber who came at 11 on a BH Sunday, spent 2 hours fixing the rubbish plumbing under the bath the previous owners had had, and was very apologetic to charge £85.
I also spent the two hours he was here doing the towels etc so that was ticked off the list as well

Hope everyone has a good day - cat about to come and help type so I shall submit post now. His typing is as good as his piano playing..... (and my smilies aren't working)

Yes, it seems fine, Softstuff, not even any staining. It wasn't that much water - it just looks a lot when it comes down. On the plus side I've found a plumber.

No the weather didn't spoil my holiday. We got a beautiful warm day that we could get into the inflatable kayak and even on the day when it was rain and windy it was pretty special watching the clouds roll in from the Atlantic and burned the peat in the fire, which was a new experience for us. Once we were sat outside eating Cullen Skink under a strapped down gazebo having a whale of a time in the stormy weather. The We're pretty positive people and try to not let the weather spoil things anyway.

Nobody could pay me enough to make me eat cullen skink
But I know what you mean re watching the sea on a stormy day - I could live in a beach hut for that alone. The light and colours of the western isles are unique, so very beautiful. But so sad, it makes your heart ache.

That's a bit fortunate Thriftmonster. Frankly, it's almost worth spending a bit to find a decent plumber!

I had to google cullen skink.... and confess to be curious if mildly queasy :rotfl:

Mar I felt sometimes like I was watching moody, sullen music video about heart break and loss but I think that it's prolly watching too many Skippinish and Skurryvore vids on ooootube. :rotfl:There's something about those Isles though. They're now deep seated within my 'eart. We' re talking about Uist and Barra next year - If we do, I'll be wearing a scarf rain, hail and shine! (those that don't know I came home with pleurisy)

Mar you're a rubbish Scott foodie :D :rotfl:
