Thanks for the advice about printer ink. Never thought of Wilkos (not one near me, but is one near in laws. I shall investigate!). I have stumbled across the larger capacity cartridges that seem better value for money.
We really don't print much. My invoices are e-docs, emailed to client. DH does print timesheets (I redesigned those to make them more printer-friendly, ie, less paper, less ink) and invoices. Other than that we print tickets and occasionally insurance docs. I think I may keep a log next time I insert new cartridges although there is probably a way to find out from the printer settings!

    Yesterday was a bit frustrating.
I did some shopping for my auntie, went to my first client and was asked to get some shopping (back i went to the same SM). I delivered shopping to client and did some cleaning. She paid by chq because the shopping was more than the cash she had.
I dropped the first shopping at auntie's and cashed a cheque for her because she couldn't get to the bank.

I then rang my only other client for the day (I do alternate Weds for one lady so have some free time!). I always give her my ETA because she is very anxious. She said she was awaiting her son to take her to a pre-arranged medical appointment some 2 hours later and she asked if she could cancel my visit. She sounded so anxious that I offered to go and sit with her till son arrived. I was very concerned because she was almost having a panic attack. Her son came and took over but I am very worried about her.

Anyway, I then went into town to bank the cheque for my hour's work and the cheque from my auntie. Cost me a pound to park. I had been out of the house for about 4.5 hours, driven about 20 miles in total, stopped and started 8 times, and been paid a grand total of ... ... ... £15. Aaagh.

Thankfully I did 6 hours today between 2 clients.

Tomorrow i am lunching with 2 dear friends :D:D
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Lainey - would an led candle work, I am worried about flames and 30 degrees of heat or maybe, if you would be okay with it, I could make them a 'kit' to do the ceremony themselves, when they are ready.

I am also going to buy them a Hazel 'whip' for their new creative journey as recommended by Witless

Appreciate the help all - love this group x
If you put the candle in a jar it would be safe :)

Mopezone, are you sure it wasn't just the decree nisi you got rather than the decree absolute? In any case, you don't necessarily need to know the whereabouts of your ex, if enough time has passed I *think* you can sort the divorce entirely without them. I did my final bits myself, with the help of a lovely lady at the local law courts. They're very nice people to talk to in my experience.

We bought a laser printer on discount a few years ago. I think it was about 50 quid. We print seldom and were finding the inkjet cartridges would even dry out during the heat. This solution works well for us.

MMF, that does sound like a frustrating day! Glad you could sit with her though, she sounded terrified.

Ouch Hester, at least with moorings they change regularly. Are you and CHS playing join the dots? :D

  • Island Maid - Another take on land protection. Can't recall whether I read it or thought it up myself - but suitable quartz wand type crystal "drawing" a protective line around the land held by someone suitable (eg maybe someone who has done Reiki).

I'm admitting nowt:rotfl: and the fact I have such a crystal is purely coincidental.:rotfl:

The fact my neighbours no longer trespass on my land is also purely coincidental...

We could do Softstuff, we are covered in red bumps. Sorry about your job, it's a horrible situation to be in.

Today we attempt the Caen Hill Flight, I just hope there are some volunteers on!

MMF there is a way to change the print settings so they go onto ink saving mode which my system informs me saves approx 15% of the ink. Unless you really need colour, you can also get it to print in mono only which on a lot of printers where the black cartridge is more expensive because it's bigger, will save you money. Unless you set it to mono only, even what appears on screen to be black, will still have small amounts of colour in, and colour costs. See if you can find a pdf to print, my system gives me an option at this point to change the output which then seems to set it as the default option.

Things like tickets don't NEED to be colour. We've printed mono tickets for flights no problem, although I do tend not to use ink saving mode when there's a barcode that will need reading.

Today starts as a good day. For the first time in 2 years my heart rate on waking is in the 60's (OK just 69 but its a milestone right :D) that's without any physical exercise, my dot about pace has slowed and I never get out of breath working the plot on purpose. Imagine how healthy my heart could get when I get the all clear (hopefully) to exercise again!

It's progress and a sign that if my heart was inflamed and a bit floppy, my behaving to take the strain off it, very little sat fat and salt and the calcium channel blockers have appeared to have helped the auld tick tock back to near health... I hopefully! Cardiologist 1st Oct.
  • WOOHOO well done FUDS!!! it's going to be another scorcher today but not as scorchio as the Iberian Peninsula 48 degrees plus? No thanks! BUT having had the chat about them over on the prepping thread a few weeks ago I was most delighted to see in the film clips of Spain ladies sitting outside using hand held (not battery ones) (NO not chickens!) old fashioned fans to keep themselves cool.....it's sometimes NOT all about modern technological developments is it? sometimes, just sometimes, what is and has been available for centuries is still doing the job just fine in 2018!

I often use my fan at church this time of year, because my seat in the choir is right in the full sun on summer mornings.

Hester I had to google the Caen Hill Flight and oh my goodness, it sounds knackering! I hope, as you say, that there are some volunteers on.

    fuddle that's great news :)
