We have a pixma too - i get cartridges from Wilkos. We don't print much at all so they last a long time.

Morning - more stats for me today.... <<sigh>>

My OH bought two Tom Kerridge diet books yesterday. I hope he knows

    1. You don't lose weight by just buying the books
    2. Even eating stuff from the books won't help you lose weight if you still eat all the other !!!!

He needs to lose a good 3 stone - this will have a knock on effect on his snoring, i hope...

Yesterday, I had a glass of red wine with no rash appearing :T I am taking antihistamines and i think they are working. At the moment we only have drowsy ones so i am taking them at night. I'm sleeping like a baby but struggling to wake. With even more vivid dreams - last night's involved a bat flying over my head.... I may have to go back to non-drowsy...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Thank you all, I'm a lot calmer today which helps.

Unfortunately the other position is the same as my job IYSWIM. It's not a position for "a level 3 receptionist", it's just another "casual medical receptionist" position. The level is determined when you're accepting the position. And yes Greenbee, this should mean I'm due an increase in level (before they were even thinking about hiring otherwise I'd started that conversation). I've decided that if I get no joy come November (when I have 2 years there) I'll start writing letters higher. And if that ends up with me going elsewhere, so be it. We've survived unemployment before, we can do so again. I may go out riding the heffalump.

I'm in a bit of a pickle if I start applying elsewhere really, I have to have already decided to leave. The medical community here is like a small village, if I apply elsewhere my bosses will hear of it toot sweet as GQ would say.

    .

I don't see it that you'd "have to have already decided to leave" to apply for other similar positions.

Your employer quite likely would be told that you have applied - but I don't think that could harm your hold on your current job. On the other hand - what it could do is "put the wind up" your current employer a bit to realise that you "mean business" and they are at risk of losing you if they don't pay up.

In your position - I'd go double whammy:
    - Apply for this new job with current employer (that gives them the message "I wish to stay with you")

    and

    - Apply for any similar jobs you see elsewhere (that gives them the message "Muggins here - but not as daft as you think - if you don't watch out and appreciate me a bit more, ie give me a payrise, then I might just jump ship and then you no longer get Gold Star work from me for Brass Star money").

VJ's Mum, have you tried organic wine or wine with no sulphates? My friend swears they don't trigger her headaches?

    Good morning.

I feel for you VJs, trying to get the man person to change his eating habits is a hard one. I hope he has enough willpower to get the job done himself. From my limited experience from only one fella - they need nagging and babying :(

Can I ask for recommendations of shopping trollies? I would like to invest in a sturdy one. Each shopping trip will be 3miles round with 1.5miles of that up hill. It's going to have to work! My last trolley wasn't really used that much and once it got on the hill, went kaput. My plan is Lidl shopping Mon, Weds, Fri.always walk down, bus up if the elements/health are questionable. I need some exercise and tired of Tesco deliveries. When the schools go back I want to be on it. I've lost my independence trying to recover from the tick tock problems within. :(

I woke like a grouchy old bear. I've no get up and go at all today. It's the slippery slope of the 6 weeks I think. I'll be lucky to avoid the onset of depression by the end of it.Usually my routine is enough, my dotting about according to time, doing my jobs etc but now I can't even go to the plot with ough 'whinge, moan, its not fair, why can eldest stay home and I have to come'. And housework is a never ending cycle of see dish, wash dish, dry dish, put away dish, see dish, wash dish...

Onbthenplus side I have found a very easy but effective mitten crochet pattern that I'm enjoying doing. A set of mittens for me coming up and then I'm going to roll them out for the family. I've wishlist of crochet jobs I want to do so at least I'm inspired, slightly, in someway.

Oh dear. I moaned a lot. Sorry. It's not very attractive. :(

Oh FUDS, I feel your pain.
I loved routine as well and found it really difficult when I first gave up work to adjust to not rushing round like a maniac getting jobs done. Now, I have time to do what I like, when I like and I love it. BUT it did take time.
Admittedly, it is much, much harder when the kids are needing attention and whinging. It will pass, even though it's hard to remember that sometimes.

Softstuff talk about rock & hard place! I get your point about not having the same laws & protection for employment as we have, that must be a challenge! BTW we have a hall, stairs & landings up to the attic that need some filling & sanding if you're offering? :D

Gosh Csarina, I hope you can get some clarity, they don't sound like they even know who is who.

VJsmum, I'm glad you can have a wine! I've found I can have the odd one with no ill effect too... and oddly enough that if I take a sip I can usually tell whether or not it will cause me bother. At least the purchase of the books is a step in the right direction. Sometimes you just have to find the right inspiration.

MTSTM, I appreciate what you're saying, but the situation here with casuals is a bit more precarious than that. Their response to that sort of thing is to ditch the casual, I've seen it happen to a very good employee.

Floss, I didn't do the filling in the end.... so yours might have to wait a bit longer :p I did however hit the gym, went hard on the weights and impressed the trainer. He says I'm making impressive progress, some of my weights have already gone up by 2 1/2 times, which he reckons is astonishing. I'm half wondering though if my sheer determination is simply MSE.... if I'm paying for all of this I gotta get my moneys worth :rotfl::money:

    Hi VJ
After years of saying that his head had to be in the right place my OH finally joined SW and loves it. Typical man, he loves praise. He’s lost 2 stone in 6 weeks ( he has more to go yet) Also youngest son, who has a sedentary job has now joined online too.
They get there in the end.

Am I the only lost soul left on the planet who has a very old fashioned little phone that closes like a she? nothing smart, just phone calls and texts? it's lovely and I'm it's friend not addicted to it!

Not the only lost soul :), I love my little flip phone.

My SIL is so determined to move me on that she is giving me her old now unused phone. Not sure I want it! but it would be nice to have one which takes photos.

Don't think you can be addicted to a basic phone which isn't connected to the internet, some days I don't use mine at all.

Softstuff, I don't have any useful thoughts, but I feel for you, so unfair.

Hello everyone, hope you have some words of wisdom for me!

I want to get married, but I was married for a couple of years in the 1970s (to someone else!)

I thought I was divorced, but when I paid £65 to have a search done for the Decree Absolute at the Central Family Court they came up with nothing.

I'm convinced that I remember getting a divorce certificate through the post back in the day, but I have no idea where it is. Neither do I have any idea where my ex-wife now lives, or how to contact her - does anybody have any bright ideas as to how I can trace my divorce by any other method?:(
