That's a rotten position to be in Softstuff. Can you apply for the new vacancy anyway? Surely you'll get an interview. If nothing else it lets them know what you want.
I wish we could have the sunshine back, any sunshine would do, it's been grey and miserable here for a week or so now and I'm used to better weather! I'm about to go up to the big city to meet a friend complete with raincoat and brolly, took me ages to find it!0 -
Softstuff I'm hoping that the reality is as greenbee suggests. I can't find the words to make it any better for you. It's such an infuriating low blow!0

Softstuff I hope they come to their senses and see what they have in front of them - muppets xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Softstuff, I have been silently fuming on your behalf. The fact is that your employers are getting Level 3 service at Level 1 cost. Obviously they won't be in any hurry to change the status quo, its not in their interests to do that.
It sounds rather as though the only thing you can do is what has been suggested, apply for the post so that they know you are serious about advancing. If, as you expect, you don't get it, you'll just have to suck it up and keep looking for any other job that looks suitable.
Don't fret. I've found through life that if something you want is taken away from you, there is probably something better waiting in the wings.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
Camelot I'm the same re the weather, Edinburgh today was grey and dark, and now we're home and it's raining again... forecast is dull and overcast for ten days
Softstuff I'd say the same as monna, I'd be very subtle about it, but I'd conduct a silent insidious wee war with them and refuse to go one step above your job description - but don't actually come out and say it!0 -
Softstuff I've finally caught up. I don't have any advice but am sending thoughts, prayers, well-wishes, good vibes, etc xx0

May I ask a question about printer ink?? I ask here because there is a wealth of knowledge, but feel free to refer me to the techie thread!
I have a cannon pixma, MG 7752 range. I need new ink (the last lot lasted no time at all, and we rarely print so I am very annoyed:mad:). Can anyone recommend a reputable supplier that charges reasonable prices??
Apropo of nothing, DH has just had a lovely chatty email from one of our Canadian friends who we met several years ago on hols. These two really get on and his wife said how much he enjoys corresponding with DH. It's quite sweet really
On the face of it they have little in common, one being a serious scientist of immense cerebral capacity and the other being my DH :rotfl: Lovely though DH is, he has never taken an interest is science. He does have an enquiring mind and so they happily natter about a wide variety of things and we have made a point of coinciding our winter hols with theirs (at their request - we are not stalking them :rotfl:)I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
I love online friends, the internet is my social life as I don't see many people in RL. My best long lasting online friends include a Navajo lady in Texas and a Sioux lady in Florida.. the things I have learned from them are totally amazing. I also talk to a medium who lives deep in the bible belt of Alabama and lives in fear of being outed. Her own sister yells and screams down the phone that she needs to be "saved".. Funny world out there innit!0

I know this'll seem far from MSE but in my case it was actually cheaper to buy a new printer that worked with 'replica' cartridges: cost of printer which came with ink + a set of replacement 'replica' cartridges was only pence difference to the cost of 2 sets of 'original' cartridges.
I'm now on my 3rd set of 'replica' cartridges so 'in' money but apparently newer printers won't work with 'replica' cartridges - especially if you update the drivers when requested.0
