Wishing the strength for you to cope with whatever the news is Hester.

Maryb parental stress is the mother of all stresses. That maybe be a pun to pardon but it seemed very fitting.

Mar I fear pain kept you awake. :(

I was here about 1.30am and I'm sorry to say (Yawn!) that I'm GP bound for 9.30. I've had a slight pain on yawning in my left side since the first pneumonia with effusion and when my heart valve packed in for a bit. It's been explained by many different medics as being anything from lung scarring to diverticular issues. Last night the whole area became tender to touch. Something isn't right. I'm not sad, slightly worried and just hope that whatever it is goes some way to piece together another bit of the saga.

I know, I'm like an attention seeking hypochondriac. I so wish I could be filling the reply box with tales of other stuff though. :(

Thinking of you today Hester and Fuddle, and sending hugs to maryb - as Fuddle says, worry over children is the worst.

mar So sorry you weren't able to sleep much. I won't send you a hug, as it would be bound to hurt. x

It's slightly cooler here today, as it's quite windy, so should apparently be about 27-28 until about Wednesday, when we're back to 30-31. It does seem odd to think that it won't be that long before we'll be snuggling gratefully into warm jumpers!

I think i'd better do what washing-up needs doing now before it gets hotter, and I also need to compose an email to the PALS at the hospital to try to get things moving with the review appointment I've been waiting for for several months with no one bothering to contact me to let me know what's happening. I know it's because this particular department is having to try to deal with too many patients, so I'm reluctant to make a fuss, but I need to know I haven't just been forgotten! But I keep thinking about how to word it, and don't know how to start.

I shall ruminate while I wash up. And will fill the watering can with the water that comes through the "hot" tap before it starts to run hot.

ETA Washing-up done, and hollyhocks watered. Judging by the shrieks coming from the direction of the local primary school, they are having their Sports Day :D Ah, Sports Day. I have "fond" memories of sitting next to another mother who kept screaming "Come on Fred*! Come on Fred!" in my ear.

    * name changed to protect the innocent.

Ha, love the pun :rotfl: I had a touch of that last night when DS was out with a friend in the car. After the car crash in Leeds at the weekend where 4 lads and 2 girls were killed or seriousy injured you can't help but worry. I heard from him at three o'clock and then not at all until he walked in around 9.30 - after i'd texted, messaged and DD had snap-chatted him with no success. "Oh sorry, my phone battery died. I was alright" said he... I am not in the least a fussy mum but do like to know where he is when he's in the car...

Speak for yourself :p I shan't be grateful, I love the heat (pollen not so much at the moment :()

Back off to London today for a 'mental wellbeing whilst writing your thesis' workshop. I feel, as a mature student, I can offer a different perspective - and there's a free lunch :p After today I shouldn't need to go for a while.

My external examiner was appointed this morning - makes it all seem rather real...
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • If you've a problem of health already this heat only exacerbates it and even if you're hale and hearty the current level of warmth is a bit of a trial isn't it? FUDS if you need the GP you NEED the GP and there's nothing that can change that other than seeing the GP. Not unreasonable and I'm fairly certain given Ru's take on things that a potential problem flagged up as it begins is dealt with more effectively than having someone with full blown problems stagger through the surgery door and have to be ambulanced straight to hospital. No guilt attached to recognition of symptoms and getting them swiftly dealt with in fact quite the opposite! I would send everyone who needs it a hug but it's far too warm for that so instead I'll wish you all a sweet little zephyr breeze to cool you down and make you feel happier, look after you and yours each of you xxx.

The plot is being watered by my fair hands and a 6L can. I do a bed a night, watering the plants only. It's on a 5day rotation. They're doing well really condidering the ground is compacted and cracking. I just thank my lucky stars I didn't fall into the heavy watering trap at the beginning. They've always kind of had to go searching for water because I was too scared to heave the watering can around a few months back. I could use a hose, everyone else does but I'm not everyone else.

I'm bit :( My spleen was mentioned. I have all the symptoms of an enlarged spleen, possibly damaged by infection resulting in poor immunity and the tenderness but as the GP couldn't feel my spleen it means it isn't enlarged to dangerous levels. He heard wind in my colon and prescribed buscopan due to history of IBS. But I haven't got stomach cramps and I now read buscopan shouldn't be taken if have a fast heart rate. I'm so confused I feel like a good cry.

I guess I go with it and go back if there's no improvement. I have a respiratory consultant appointment early next month so I will mention the tender feeling when I yawn /breathe in then.

    Ho hum.

Fuddle peppermint oil or tea (or even chewing fresh leaves) is good for intestinal troubles... I always have a tin of those little mints in my car for that reason ;)
