Thanks Wolfy I think sheer lack of sleep kept me from wrapping the thing tightly around his head trapping his loud mouth in the process .
I'll bear your kind offer in mind for future events . There will be many more such days to come before the return of the rain .
Are you cross and irritable for any particular reason or like me tired and fed up with idiots ? Lancashire fire service have had to take to social media to ask people to stop flying drones over the fire as they are putting the lives of the helicopter crews and those on the ground at risk . It beggers belief people do such things . It's become a norm to either film things on the phone when bad things are happening or stand gawping while you should clear the area . Nothing normal there to my mind .
How's Mr Wolfy ? I did noticed he has his appt this month . I've just struggled to catch up lately . Dd got her letter for the new Rheumo dept within 3 days of the choose and book online . That was ages ago but she'll be there on 16th July . We opted for the nearest hospital like yourselves . Two choices miles apart same trust and Rheumo team so an easy choice to make .
I hope you're able to get some sleep . We never seem to get that ideal not too damp and cold nor hot and humid do we? I have a dim memory of such days but not seeing them at the moment .
I need to get back to the thread poor Tink , AOT and the others must be wondering what's going on.
Take care

Pollyanna I wonder if UU have a "snitch on your neighbour's water wastage" option?
It irritates me, same as one plotholder having a sprinkler on AND using another hose to water her other plants  We all pay the site's water bill, split according to square yardage, but she's using the water I am not using but paying for, coz I use my 4 water butts to water the few plants in the greenhouses and one pot outside. Everything else can take it's chance on a good dousing once a week until we get regular rain again.

I looked up several times in the garden to see a helicopter overhead. I'm not sure if it was the same one or multiples--headed straight for the fires. I too saw the drone warning Polly and we've just had an email from UU asking us to cut back on water usage to avoid a hosepipe ban. Of course the empty house next to us had a burst pipe (outside the house where a hose would connect) back during the winter months. We reported it to our own estate agent and went to great lengths to report to to the estate agent that used to manage the property...and indeed we did report it to them. It is still running. UU won't do anything as it is on private property. It makes me furious. Unfortunately we're pretty sure the supply valve is inside so it would require either the owner or estate agent to do something--although in fairness to the estate agent we're fairly sure they don't manage it anymore so they may have passed on the message to the owner who isn't bothered.
The fairy door will go in my office for now but will go in my eventual garden. I just have to find a suitable spot for it.0 -
Floss can you hear me cackling in an evil fashion ? What a brilliant idea ! I'm not being charged for his excess use but he is wasting a very precious resource . I'm not a snitch by nature but I will make an exception in this case . You could show him film of all those walking for days across different countries for water that doesn't come clean and monitored as it is here . He would never get it , he's just entitled as far as he's concerned .
I've also realised he is on a meter which sits on his stretch of very clean pavement so he's paying a lot for his entitlement today .

We had the message to cut back a few days ago FairyP . UU are looking as though they will ban hosepipes soon . Looking ahead although you can't rely on forecasts rain seems far off at the moment .
It's always annoying to see water leaks not being tackled . That seems a situation where no one is taking responsability . As you say UU can't just enter a private property but perhaps there is a point They can enforce additional powers after a certain length of time has passed . Utility companies can apply to enter a property in such circumstances .
Shame it's not outside I'm sure your other half could sort it with a couple of tools and a head torch . He'd be late to bed because it seems to be taking forever to go dark .
Have you ever heard of Ben Law ? He built his own hobbit style house in the woods . There were a few Grand Designs episodes as it evolved . It was like a hobbit house , very unique and rather lovely .
Fairy doors always remind me of him .

The best thing in a hot and very ratty day . BBC Lancashire online news . A fireman who's come to the moors from Nottingham to help holding a tiny bird in his big glove . Hopefully if shock doesn't get it that little bird will go on to fly free . Good people always step up . Bless 'em all .

DS2 did a sponsored challenge a few years ago for Wateraid, where he carried his daily personal water allowance of 15 litres a day everywhere he went for 28 days...he raised a fair chunk of money and raised a lot of awareness around his home area & 6th form college in Manchester. Similarly DH has only had showers (no baths) since visiting Eritrea for work in 2011...he's off to Cape Town soon which has had no effectictive rain for 5 years so will likely come home with more tips.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

The Best way to find out much water you use it to have no water for 8 weeks like we did in Gloucester about 12 years ago. I can still give myself a good wash with two baby wipes. After 6 weeks you could not get a baby wipe for love nor money. We all acquired so much bottled water we all had garages full.
There was a couple on there late 90s. I went round to see if I could help, did they need water fetching. He said gleefully, "Come and look in the spare bedroom." It was piled up to the ceiling. "The garage is the same," he said.
I suppose the whole neighbourhood knew how old they were.0 -
When I managed allotments, I would stroll around and disconnect hosepipes....in the end, all taps were replaced with autofilling troughs...paid for very quickly by the savings, and a contribution from the local council green budget.0

I had a fairy door in my garden and it was just a tiny door to interest the grandchildren, I also had a door mat and four milk bottles. You see, m not always disreputable.Chin up, Titus out.0
