Welcome home VJsmum. Enjoy your peaceful time before the rest of the troops arrive.
Just remember that 7 months is no time at all compared with the many years of the relationship you had with your dad. My dad died 7 years ago and I still get the occasional moment. After all, grief is just love with nowhere to go, and the love doesn't die when we lose our dear ones. It only takes a smell, a picture, a memory, a familiar phrase and the grief comes rolling back in. It becomes a bit more manageable but never goes away entirely.
Tired trophy, you plot soul. These temperatures are bad enough when yo are in the best of health and don't have to work. To have all that and shingles as well doesn't bear thinking about. You come on and let off steam my dear, we can't do much but we can listen and sympathise.
Softstuff, running around in the nude is not an option. The places you might get sunburnt don't bear thinking about. I think I have a couple of potato sacks in the back of the garage. I'll shake them out and send them over to you. You can run up a decent cover up in no time.
LW, you may not be the only one here who doesn't own jeans but I'm willing to bet that you are the only one wise enough to know when wearing jeans is not a good idea.
Millie is asleep on my bed. She has tossed all the pillows on to the floor and is lying where the pillows should be. She is stretched out in front of the fan. The fan is not on yet but when that switch goes down she is already in position.
Tough, Millie. That's my place.
Actually it is one of those revolving fans so it cools me then swivels round to cool the hound in her bed on the floor. I'm nothing if not fair.I believe that friends are quiet angels

The only consolation of autumn for me is going back into my jeans and DMs. I am not great at smart and positively rubbish at posh, so jeans suit me fine. In fact, if I say so myself, my arris looks bliddy great in them
I have spent the last two weeks in shorts, some of which were really Quite skimpy. Amazing what a bit of weight loss does for my self esteem. I have a couple of summer frocks for when I have to look decent, I am in London on Monday so will break one out then. Though it will be worn with sneakers as I have to walk a fair way..
Well, so much for doing nothing - I have done two loads of washing, the shopping, watered the garden and oiled the garden furniture. My book hasn't been opened... I am currently cooking the pulled jackfruit, it's looking good so far..I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Tired trophy--is there anything you can do to treat yourself? Make a coffee tonight and chill overnight for iced coffee or freeze some grapes?
VJs, I don't think it is odd at all. I hope you can be kind to yourself. A quiet day pottering before going back to work sounds lovely...if you can manage it at any point!
Softstuff, if you have a gap you might try them. They do a few more relaxed fit styles and smaller sizes. They also do the skinny and the flares, but you might try one of the 'boyfriend' types. The smaller sizes often end up in the sales.
I think I've caught up, but I've probably forgotten something. Keep cool!0 -
I have a pair of jeans now. I didn't until I was in my twenties..well I think I probably did as a small child, but I hated them as a youth. I mostly prefer skirts these days--a comfort preference rather than style but some people still find me 'dressed up.' Fortunately like my disdain for jeans my ability to care what others think of my clothing seems to keep dissipating as I age. I look forward to abandoning it all together.
And now I really will shut up. OH has just finished chopping the watermelon:)0 -
Well I wore a skirt to work for the first time in 20 years last week, it was SO FLIPPING HOT
colleagues nearly fainted with shock..... skirt and dresses make me feel like Donald Trump in Melania's wardrobe :rotfl:

Thank you all for the continued welcome,
Monnagran - my name is Linda :-) Litha reflects my birthday, which, as Lamewolf correctly stated is the Celtic name for the Summer Solstice celebration.
I am enjoying the 'taps aff' weather here , but working at a very busy event today, I found the heat a wee bit draining.
Once my Mum taxi duties are complete I can relax for a bit, I may even get out the firepit and open something nice ( I have a bottle of Fentiman's Traditional Rose Lemonade, what to have with it ? ...)

fuddle the accusation was at your dr's Practice not you. Self medication is taking any thing such as paracetamol, for a head ache to vitamin or herbs just anything. I was shocked at your doctors receptionist thinking it is OK for a 9 year old to self medicate. They have practically no knowledge and think they can do the doctors job for them.0

Thank you..it's good to have online company.....bit late for coffee but I might try to do some iced tomorrow.
I made blackcurrant ice cream....it is good and I reduced the sugar considerably so it does not taste of a famous cordial.
If you are entitled to the shingles vaccine, go get it.0 -

I’ve just picked tons, do you have a recipe for ice cream you could share easily please?Carolbee0 -
Thank goodness you CAN get non prescription meds at the pharmacy because the thought of a small person being as uncomfortable as hayfever can make you feel without any help at all is NOT a good one.0
