    Morning all, I'm back.... :)

DD and I got the Eurostar yesterday afternoon, arriving home last night. Love the Eurostar I do. OH and DS get back tomorrow. As, technically, I am still on holiday (was not supposed to be back until tomorrow but OH changed plans due to French railway strike), I am not planning to do much this weekend. A bit of light gardening, push the laundry through, some food shopping is all. I plan to be in the warm sunshine finishing my book (A Passage to India- if you are a Jane Austen fan, as I am, I recommend EM Forster, I hadn't realised how Austen- like he is) and catching up with missed Poldarks and archers (the vintage tea room sounds just like Fallon's in The Archers).

We've had a super time, DD and I. We have decided that three full days in Disneyland midweek is the perfect amount of time. She was Winnie the Pooh, Prince Eric, Rapunzel and Snow White and was acknowledged by all the relevant characters. We splashed out on dinner at the Cinderella restaurant so I have lost an arm and a leg but it was worth it. We are princessed out - for someone who has no truck with the royal family, DD sure loves a princess. I even went on a super zippy, twisty, upside downy roller coaster and survived. Last time I needed to lie down in a darkened room... We've been Mickeyed and Donalded, princessed, turned upside down and back to front. Real life, who needs it? :p

However, sleeping in my own bed, without OH snoring in my ear was bliss (don't get me wrong, I will be pleased to see him home but a couple of nights uninterrupted sleep is heaven. Some nights I literally want to beat him to a pulp..... But I go in the spare bed instead).

FPK - I feel your pain with food labelling. I am the same with MSG. Often it is just labelled as flavouring, or even natural flavouring and so I can't always be sure it is in something until I get the racing heart, ear worms and sleeplessness. I am still having histamine rash issues, a glass of wine seems ok, a bottle is too much - which is probably true anyway. Beer seems to be a complete no no. Other foodstuffs are a bit hit and miss.

Tonight I am going to try Making a jackfruit recipe - anyone tried it?

(As an aside, I seem to be feeling extra emotional and grief stricken, nearly 7 months after dad died. Is it because I've had time do you think?)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

My garden is mostly heavy clay so I've got a couple of raised beds about 6ft square. and my little 6ft square greenhouse. they supply us with Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Onions, Blackberries, Loganberries, Gooseberries,Rhubarb, and in some large tubs I've got runner beans and climbing beans and some potatoes. It sounds a lot but TBH I've only one of each and its plenty for DH & I and often enough to keep us going through the winter. I like my home produce but I dont consider myself 'gardener' as such - more a dabbler!!
Ivy - never tried carrots - I usually buy living lettuce and re-plant but havn't seen any in the supermarkets this year. My poundland onions are doing well though!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Hugs VJsmum. Could be time or maybe something else has become a reminder? I find, even a few years on, that I get hit at odd times with grief missing dad. There's no set time scale though and quite often we're so busy sorting things out we don't get a chance nearer the time.

Monna, the clothes shopping trip did not go well. With womens jeans (I tried about 30+ pairs on), when they fit around the waist they cut off the circulation from the knee down (I can't have stretch around my calf). I used to buy mens jeans, but they start at 30" waist which is now too large. As for other clothes, there wasn't much at all I liked in my size. Ho well. At least if I have to go around nude, things will not look quite as bad :rotfl:

Softstuff...if you can get them, Lev*s do a sort of demi flare thing jeans that are great on the calves and I got them in a 28inch waist.....i had to take them up which spoilt the shape...you would not have that issue. Not cheap...worn them to holes.

I wonder if that's something they don't stock here. I was in the levis shop today and they gave up on me :rotfl: The nearest I came were the mens athletic fit (for bodybuilders apparently!) but they don't make them in smaller than a 30 waist.

What a pain. I hate clothes shopping but most folks need a pair of jeans.
A family member lived in Perth for a few years..said shopping was a bit limited.
Right now, I hate having shingles - it is even hotter than the UK here, my back and ribs either hurt or ache, I am on my own as DH has gone adventuring and I am so fed up.
I cannot sleep, I cannot sit and the painkillers make me dizzy when I stand!!

And I do not wish to see any more blackcurrants....I still have at least 2kg to pick and deal with!....in the early morning when it is cooler..or can I be bothered?

Enough moaning...it probably makes pain worse.

I hope you all enjoy the weather...and that it does not turn into 1976....collecting water after school...we flushed with seawater!....dishwashing water grew the most amazing runnerbeans!

Welcome Litha. Or welcome back. Intrigued by your user name, perhaps it is really Lisa but I have a lithp and read it wrongly.
It's actually the name of the Summer Solstice celebration. :o
A belated welcome to Litha of course, too. ;)
Is local honey any help Fuddle (or is that just a myth?)
Not a myth - it worked for me; I used to get really really bad hay fever, and I can't take antihistamines. Since I've been buying honey from the local farmers market (beekeeper lives about 15 miles from our house) it's reduced in severity by about 90%.

Food labelling - my big gripe is gelatine hidden in things that shouldn't contain it - I don't touch certain brands of yogurt due to this.

Btw - am I the only person who doesn't own a pair of jeans? :D

Lacey the Sprocker Spaniel is here - flaked out on the lounge floor in front of the fan. :D I shall defer her walk til it's a bit cooler, poor girl can't take her coat off to cool down!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

We have bees 50 meters away in the garden where I grow my fruit and veg. The landowner is the beekeeper and I get as much honey as I'd like - sadly I still get hayfever...the honey is very good but I have to be aware of the mood of the bees..
