  • For what it's worth Nell and I did exactly the same FUDS, we looked in the window, looked at the queue, looked at the prices and looked at each other !!!..then walked to Harlow Carr where we had a cuppa and cake at prices we were prepared to pay!

Fuddle, your vintage place sounds like our Mrs Jones Tearooms. Probably much more enjoyable than a posh place. Listen my pet, people are much too busy fretting about their own appearance to be overworked about yours. I know how you feel though. It wasn't until I was quite old that I decided that I didn't care two hoots about other people's opinion of what I looked like. In fact if I fell short of other people's expectations I had probably made them feel smug and superior so they should be grateful to me. I promise that you'll get there in time.

Well, my viewers arrived half an hour early. Fortunately I had finished the tarting up process and was clothed and in my right mind when they fetched up.
The estate agent who was supposed to be showing them round hadn't even left the office so I did it myself.
We had a ball. They were so nice and we giggled our way round as I pointed out all the flaws in the house. They went off determined to move in as soon as possible !
    We'll see.

So here I am, in a spotless house, all dressed up and nowhere to go. Think I will settle down with a coffee and a book and then go round rescuing things from cupboards and drawers where they have been dumped out of sight.
Millie is making herself comfortable on my best white bed cover, only used when a house viewing is imminent.
She looks too comfortable to be moved.
No doubt about it, I am soft.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Old ways won't open new doors.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

Good morning from the land of the sleepless . Circa 2-3 hours seems to be the new norm at the moment .

NM I sometimes think I would be better hand writing posts . Looking back to yesterday I can see every typo I didn't spot at the time .
Like monna and others I'm someone who enjoys writing and receiving handwritten letters . I do value the internet as we can connect with like minded people and google everything needed . Over the past few years it's helped me deal with difficult consultants due to much research , knowledge is power in a lot of situations .
I think I was born too soon to be really into tech . I'm not on facebook or twitter . I know you use you tube a great deal and it's a valuable tool but I get bored easily and find it easier to either google something or find it in a book . People constantly scrolling through their phones when in company drives me loopy especially those in town bumping into everyone and not engaging with their children apart from shushing them .
Guess I'm a bit old fashioned . All my children grew up with tech and use it in many ways but they put the smartphones down when with other people and have real conversations .

Fuds There may be other birthdays here today but I think it may be me you're referring to after I posted about Yorkshire and the fact I should have been at Harlow Carr last weekend too but for a change of plan . I've eaten in at Betty's in York and Harrogate it was a bit against my value for money nature . I understand the overheads are high but I think paying for reputation is a bit cheeky . It's always busy and not a relaxing experience . I've eaten in the Restaurant at Harlow Carr which was enjoyable but expensive . You can book a table in advance for HC . I've never paid on any visit as birthdays etc are eldest daughters treats . She lives the country living life , she's worked had since graduating for that life and will be 47 in a couple of months so I'm pretty proud of her .
If you go to Yorkshire again try to get up to Whitby . If you've never been it's worth going . Apart from the landscape it's very quirky , sitting in the sun near the cliffs you can eat the best fish and chips ever . Well worth a go and affordable .

Good morning, just thought I'd let you knows it's all my fault!
Everything from the cat walking along the gunwales, the delay in getting a Dr's appointment to the newly ordered MAGNETIC tunnel light not sticking to the WOODEN cratch cover frame!
Hey ho, if I push him in the cut I'll claim diminished responsibility!!
    Chin up, Titus out.

Not really posh softstuff, just full of people a lot better dressed than I. I get intimidated just walking in a department store these days :rotfl:

It certainly was popular so your gift would have been very well received. :D

I can tell you a funny story about appearances Fuddle, it's fairly famous amongst locals here. A lady walked into a very expensive dress shop in a very upmarket street here, wearing just jeans and a t-shirt. She wandered round selecting items, taking her time and tried on many things. She then told the assistant to set aside those things, her husband would be in in about 30 minutes to pay and collect them. The assistant judged the lady on appearance and put all of the items back. The husband, a CEO of a very large multinational company, walked in to pay and collect. Needless to say, a sale worth thousands of dollars was lost. Here in my hometown there are many multimillionaires, you can't always tell who is who, sometimes they're the scruffiest!

Monnagran, I wonder if it is you that manages to sell the house, do you get a cut of the commission? :rotfl:

I wonder if I've read a few pages back and just not been with it when waking up Polly. How embarrassing.i've been caught out not paying attention! :D:o

I'm tidy, just natural. Before I used to be preened but given I grew up amongst females who gossiped, judged and b*tched etc I sometimes worry more than I actually care about.:rotfl:

I'm hiding indoors but have the back door open. I see my old barrel full of wildflowers set by my shed, old rickety yard wall and then the allotments are hidden by the angle and then I see hills, trees and blue, blue sky. I've never appreciated the beauty until now but it will be short lived as DH is bringing home one of those multicoloured ribboned fly screens home. We're so 70's :D

Not a problem Fuds . I no doubt confused things by referring to the plans for last weekend which had to be change and we're a family meet up although the birthday is today .

There are a lot of lovely little tea shops in Yorkshire . There's one that's all mismatched Cath Kidston and Susie Watson , it either cost a fortune to set up or they're amazing at tracking down bargains . A hot or cold drink and savoury or sweet food was normal prices ans the staff are lovely . One of my friends has a similar one in the next village and she recreated an old style tea room with a small sitting out area in the tiny yard out back for sunny days . All from boot sales , auction rooms and junk shops . She bought the various assorted tables and chairs and bookcases so people can browse plus other bits and pieces the same way and then lots of sanding , painting , copious amounts of tea and food for the troops , some tears but many laughs along the way . She's built a thriving business charging normal prices and if I had more time I would fanct doing the same .

Your view from the kitchen sounds perfect . I like things that evolve including outdoor spaces . Too many people aim for a perfect that is false , often expensive and replicated by many others .

I'm supposed to be going out soon but struggling with the heat and very slow getting ready .

I hope your viewers do come back Monna , any sign of a bungalow or similar in your search area yet ? Perhaps we may need to be like the Amish and unite to build a secret monna home rather like the Bothies and various hidden dwellings in Scotland . There are a number of wooden dwellings in Rob Roy country off grid but I know where a few of them are.

Happy Birthday Polly. :bdaycake: now we'll all come round and help you eat that cake. I always think of it as being huge. Hester will then have an alibi. It's a pity we can't all just teleport.

Hugs Hester I am sure he will calm down. He is probably feeling and idiot for buying a magnetic light for where there is no metal. I'm sure he will find somewhere to put it or alternatively he could glue of nail a bit or iron or steel to the wooden frame.

I got a quite exciting letter this morning. They have offered the flat at Jubilee house to someone else but if they decide not to have it Would I still be interested. Of course I would!! Just waiting to be sure they are back from lunch. Then I will phone them. The flowers I bought yesterday will be my parting gift. They only cost me £5.
