    What default thing Polly?

There has been a large pot just outside our block with a dead shrub in it for three weeks. I think I should have put the shrub in the garden the first time I saw it. It may have recovered. Today I decided to put something in it. It must have been brought here by somebody drunk. I have three suspects and likely they don't remember. I have some compost so I bought a big red dahlietta (had to cut the label out of the pot to see how to spell that) and some begonias. The begonias were a bit dry so they are in soak and I will fill the pot with bulbs for winter and put the flowers in the pot.

I'll kill anyone who touches it. I don't know if I should move it first because We will only see the flowers when we come in or out. I wont be able to lift it when it is full.

It's just you polly, I don't seem to have any default notices.

Today I seem to be able to post but for the past few days I've had to write a couple of words, post it and then write the rest of the post on 'edit'.

Glad you had a good holiday fuddle. There are many areas of Britain that I still have to visit and now that I have decided that the foreign holidays are not for me any more I will make it my business to visit a few places at home that I have my eye on.

alfsmum, a bit of music and stamping about describes my dancing perfectly. That is clever of you.

I was planning on doing a bit of shop window dressing for my viewer tomorrow but I sat down to have a cup of tea at about 5 o'clock and woke up just after 8. Now why can't I sleep like that at night?
Anyway I certainly don't feel like housework now so it will be a case of getting up early tomorrow. The place is clean and tidy but those extra little touches make all the difference.

Hope you are all surviving the heat.

Will see you tomorrow but it may have to be when the viewer has been and gone.

Good evening from 5 foot 3 inch size 12-14 me.

OH home now, snoring his head off, although he said he slept fairly well in hospital last night. I have had fun chasing the local chemist and GP surgery for prescription items which were ordered last week. The three missing things were started when OH had a couple of days in hospital last month, so the surgery had no note of them (even though they were mentioned on the discharge letter which they had received, but let's not go there....). The chemist should deliver them tomorrow so OH will have to make sure he is in to receive them as I am at work. The surgery staff and the pharmacy staff are all absolutely lovely, they keep asking how he's doing, it's just stupid admin systems that foul things up now and then.

Last week a note was put through our door from a local milk delivery firm, stating how hard things are with competition from supermarkets, and asking us to consider supporting our local milkman. The following day a chap from the company came round signing people up for deliveries. We elected to have milk delivered Wednesdays and Fridays, starting today. Nothing has been delivered. I telephoned the company and left a message on the answerphone. I have not had any calls so far......probably just an admin cokc up....I will give them a chance, because I have always said I would support a local milk delivery service.

With all the to-ing and fro-ing this week, with mammoth shopping trips plus washing and ironing etc, I will be glad to go to work tomorrow for a rest. OH has mountains of stuff in the fridge for meals and snacks, so should be ok.

It's hard to describe but when I finally got a post to show earlier I moved up reading recent posts as I went . I always read on the blue skin but after logging in I'm on the old green skin posting and reading .
My last two posts had an image in the top left hand corner , clicking on it showed default , all the posts on the page had the same image so I've no idea what it was .

Just looked and all the posts have that image in the top corner .

Sorry .polly, can't help. I am always on the green format and don't seem to have any default icons.
When I lose a post it always says "you have no internet connection." which is not true because if I click on restore it always comes up immediately.

It's just one of those things I've come to expect from computer world.

Very busy today but got home at 5 and spent an hour in the garden before making tea :)

Looking forward to a whole day of art class tomorrow. I have done 3 such days before and never produced anything I like! I always learn a lot though, and am happy to take that and run with it on my own afterwards. You never know, maybe this time i'll succeed!
I really need to find more time for my painting.
There is a week long course in August that I would love to do but I really can't take any more time off work (have 2 long weekends and a 10 day hol booked in the next 4 months :D). I enjoy my work but it does get in the way sometimes :rotfl:
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Nargle does your dairy have website ? My dairy offers both phone and email choices . Depending on the size of the business and number of staff the phone may not be manned all the time .

Mine is traditional and has been going for generations of the family rearing the cows and delivering to the doorstep . I haven't had a problem but if I've needed to contact them an email is answered pretty quickly .

In my post earlier today I mentioned Fentiman's ginger beer which is very useful for the sick bowl or living in the loo times as a result of chemo drugs .

It's naturally brewed with no added rubbish and in glass bottles . It's always in the cupboard here and many a time small sips keep youngest hydrated and help ease nausea and upset stomach .

I'm sorry about admin . You'll find if you act like the squeaky wheel things will get sorted . You have a good gp and staff and that's a major advantage . Our gp is amazing but in the past I've trained reception staff and there is now a good team who just get on with things .

    Wishing you both well .

    polly .

NM are you posting on a laptop ? I know Monna will be using her tablet so I'm wondering if that rectangular thing above the first word of a post - looks like a sheet of paper - and is it only showing on laptops or maybe also desktops .

Ithought at first it may be something everyone knew about and I'd never noticed but I'm beginning to think I've finally lost the plot !

I always move pots before planting . I use soil based John Innes and it's hard to move even before planting .

Thank you for the welcome back and also to Monna who I hope enjoyed her day out .

I swear I will never make long posts again . I'm still trying to remember most of what I posted earlier and am still catching up .

I had a bit of a giggle this morning seeing many of you mention your measurements like some sort or roll call :o It reminded me of brownies where you had to state your name and subscription :rotfl: I can confess why now, I had a lovely dress I wanted to send to a fencer it might fit. I've picked someone who replied first and is near the size and will mail it today :)

The bother with changing size in either direction is if you have a nice piece of clothing. There are no dress agencies here now, clothing is so prolific on facebook and ebay it doesn't sell for much at all and my friends here are all lacking in the boob department :rotfl:

I did love your description of "snowglobe" Islandmaid, it made me think of you being picked up and jiggled :o

I can't comment on "notices" on the forum, but sometimes recently when I click the button that normally takes me to the next unread post, it doesn't and it misses a whole heap.

Glad you enjoyed your holibobs Fuddle. Did you make it to Bettys Tea rooms in Harrogate?

Seems like a heck of a runaround you're having just to get the meds Nargle. I hope the dairy proves easier for you to sort out.

Love to all who need it xx

Ivyleaf your young family had a lucky escape . cars can be replaced but people can't .

I hope the breathing gets sorted soon Silva . I must admit I've never been overly fond of Starlings . They used to nest in large in large numbers around the corner from me chattering loudly , quite lovely flying in murmerations but a nightmare in the gardens as they tried to eat the resident birds food by fighting and bullying . Eventually they were driven off by every bird all the way down to the robins and wren and nest over in the farmland now .

MMF Never apologise for spending money on time with lovely people who deserve a treat . In these parts Salt of the earth is not patronising it's a compliment to the good people of this world and seems apt in the circumstances .
Enjoy your art class . I still remember the cat picture and lovely flowers you posted here . Do what feeds your soul and enjoy .

I've still got loads to reply to including Fuds . I have one of those birthdays with an 0 tomorrow . Had plans not changed I would have been doing all you did except Knaresborough as we were heading to Wuthering heights , Bronte country and the Priory . I'm glad you enjoyed Gods own country . My eldest daughter is so lucky to now call it her forever home .

I'll have to carry on tomorrow , with the heat last night I managed 2 hours sleep if that . A number of the firefighters are having a few hours rest while others are still out on the moor . No sign yet of the Chinook promised by the MOD . Grateful to United Utilities for sending their helicopter up to dump water over the site . As my water company bless them for common sense in a difficult situation and bless the firefighters who've carried heavy hoses and pumps up to three miles to access the site and then fight the fire .

    Night , night sleep tight
