pollyanna I post on a laptop and I get the little "sheet of paper" above each post, and also got it when I used to post on a desktop. Sometimes a post will have a title, and then the title appears above the post instead. If there's no title, you see the "sheet of paper" :)

I don't know what nursemaggie means though when she mentions "notices"; I just log in and have the thread bookmarked so I just go into it. I understand that one can "subscribe" to a particular thread, but I don't know what that means either as I've never had occasion to need to find out. Does it mean you get notified by email every time someone posts on the thread?

Narglel I hope Mr Nargle is feeling better x

Thankful to say our young people were all ok after the accident yesterday. DGS seems to have come off worst; his side was very sore, and the doctor warned him it would probably feel worse this morning but that it's only bruised.

Very tired as been looking after younger grandchildren after school (why do I find it so tiring? I love them dearly, and now they are 10 and almost 12 they don't really need much looking after!). Also made fresh tomato sauce to have with pasta; in all these years i'd never done that :o It was very nice, though I found it quite difficult to skin the tomatoes even though I left them in boiling water for a few minutes as recommended by Deli@.

Going to bed shortly, but I should be back tomorrow :)

5ft 6ins . Size 6 according to the next label in my 12 years of jeans collection .

Inherited from my dad although he was nearer 6ft 5ins he was always slim build .

I spotted your post Ivyleaf so logged in again to say thank you so much I can go to bed assured I haven't finally lost the plot :rotfl:

I subscribe to a few threads including this one and my much neglected thread which I must get back to , when it slips back a few pages it's easy to find in my profile or subscribed threads . That's just reminded me of Scottish Minnie , Lainey and the others on the No T words thread . how could I have forgotten that ?

Anyway it sounds as though we've both had a busy day so I'm off to bed and I hope you have a restful night . I shall sleep better know I know it isn't just me seeing that " piece of paper "

Well as my old mum used to say I'm in and out like a fiddlers elbow tonight .
Ivyleaf subscribing to a thread makes them easy to find . If you look at the top of this page you will see subscribe to this thread . Click on that and it will show in your settings as subscribed threads . it's easier to access a thread that isn't on the front page .
I've never needed notifications of new posts . i read on the blue skin as I'm one of the few who find it easier than the old green . When I then log in I am taken to the green skin as like many I opted to retain that option back when they were testing the new one . i hated the blue when they trialed it out of the blue but it isn't as glaringly bright as it was and i find it less cluttered .

That's probably as clear as mud ! Good night again .

Polly it's not giving me notices again. I shall have to sign up yet again.

Funnily enough when you said about the default in the left hand corner I was not seeing it. I am not a bit like the picture you get on your desktop when you put a not book note on but it's much smaller. Yes it had always been there. I think the blue format was made for smart phones and tablets and not for Desktops. I found it far too bright.

I prefer my desktop I know what I am doing. I use it for all TV not that I watch much, a tablet would be nice for recipes and I am sure I would find it a lot better for downloading knitting patterns onto.

It's a good job you don't use wring paper for posts you would use a whole writing pad some evenings, polly me too sometimes.

One of us has a birthday today. HaPpY bIrThDaY! I read it this morning, caught up on the thread, went to reply and couldn't remember whose birthday it was. I've searched and can I heck find who it is.

Will the Birthday Girl please stand up? Have a lovely day :) x

I found Betty's Tearoom along with most of the rest of Harrogate. I do love tea and cake but queue for it? plus I felt it all a bit too posh. I suspect I've missed out on a nice treat but we were happy in a vintage tearoom with mismatched china cups and yarn covered wreaths ;)

Fab that so many of us have walked to Harlow Carr. Monna I'm cross with myself, DH too, and that we hadn't really explored somewhere that's not that far from us. We certainly have some beautiful places in our diverse little country.

I didn't realise it was posh Fuddle, or that it would involve a queue. I only knew the name at all because the last gift I had to send to England in a hurry, after much googling, came from Bettys tea rooms. Turns out, if you're overseas, you can arrange to have scones, tea and jam delivered to someone in England. Worked out cheaper and more interesting than the usual flowers or chocs. I too like mismatched china and the wreaths sound intriguing.

Not really posh softstuff, just full of people a lot better dressed than I. I get intimidated just walking in a department store these days :rotfl:

It certainly was popular so your gift would have been very well received. :D
