As quite obviously the majority of the population, or at least the ones that matter, are 5ft2 or under, where do supermarkets get the idea that it's quite acceptable to have shelves that can only be accessed by people 6ft+. Who are mostly male. Who don't usually get involved with shopping.

nursemaggie, my mum was 4ft10. Occasionally she added a half as she thought it sounded better. "Just as high as a man's heart," said my, usually unromantic, father.

MMF, I love the story about your niece improving on the written music. It's easily comparable to Eric Morecombes playing 'all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.'

Hester, love your Garfield mug. I used to have one that said I wasn't overweight, I was under tall, but yours is better.

Woken up to a very different day today, grey and windy. I will take the opportunity to spend a few hours in the ROD and see if I can't get a few mountains of detritus sorted out. I also have to make a couple of lemon meringue pies for a 'do' at church tomorrow. I offered because I seem to have a surfeit of lemons and eggs at the moment.

    But first another coffee break.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

I have this happy personality and a sad soul in one body. It feels weird sometimes.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

Hello! Have been catching up but real life suddenly busy, am moving home again, fourth time in 15 months, long story. Also starting a new job next week despite me trying to explain I was moving following week. Ah well. I too am a 5'2 person, am also sure I was an inch taller sometime!
(I moved in March last year from a council flat in one area, I had been there since 1980. My best friend and her other half moved to area I am now in, I was in a private rental then. Moved where I am at present in December, a flat again in an 'independent living' place. Unfortunately most folk are rather a lot older than myself and appear to have lost their zest for life! On my birthday on May 30th I had a phonecall from somewhere I had put my name down for maybe a bungalow. Initially I said 'Oh no' then my friend told me to phone back, which thankfully I did.)
So am now moving to a 2 bed bungalow with a garden. I have never had a garden, except when a child! Scarey. New job. So strange it has all happened at the same time! Hmmm....
Oh, and my younger brother is 6'7"!

I was very cross to be told my BMI is now (just) in the overweight category when my weight hasn't changed, I've just shrunk in height. You point that out but you just get a patronising lecture back as if they hadn't heard you (probably weren't listening)

Mind you I'm probably back in the just about OK category now because I did lose weight when DH was in hospital
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

It's her birthday tomorrow, and we are out for a meal - now a double celebration :j:j

Well done little Islandmaid. Enjoy this celebratory family time.

The winds are nothing new here just a bit of a shock to the system because now they're back I realised that they've been gone for quite a while. Weird weather.

For all the 5'2" and under Fencers - always remember, they don't make diamonds as big as bricks! :rotfl:

Islandmaid well done to your DD. :T

Helebore ooh, exciting times. :o I moved into a bungalow in 2002, when I left the ex and moved in with Mr LW - it was just fortunate that he already lived in a bungalow.

I've just been informed that Mr LW has now finished his go on the WiiFit and it is available for me to use.......

LW I know! When I left home we lived in a bungalow, but I hated it, it was a very strange configuration. This one is soo different. This will be it for me now, thank goodness!

I think we may be in for a few virtual housewarming parties in the near future, if all the planned moves go ahead. :o

I've survived half an hour of WiiFit, managed not to fall over today :T but my knees are complaining big time now.
However, I do still need to somehow shift 2 stone, so it has to be done.

You know you're making progress when you have an empty loft.....all that's left up there is a wallpaper pasting table that we're leaving. I put the buggy, potty in a seat, baby bath and top and tail washing bowl out on the drive at lunchtime saying free please take and someone has taken the bath and top and tailer woohoo! Hopefully the other things will be taken too if not we'll freecycle them. The pile of boxes in the corner of the lounge grows taller...

Buggy just found a new home too!

I've just emptied the blanket chest and packed the winter duvets, electric blankets and spare pillows from the cupboard in the spare room in every big bag and suitcase I could lay my hands on! I will sleep tonight!
