Another week dawns. Where does the time go? Every Monday I make plans for everything I want to accomplish during the week Every Monday! Then every Friday I do a bit of hand-wringing and wonder what happened.
Anyway, as I was saying, another week full of possibilities.
It looks like being another lovely day so I may rustle up a bit of washing. Can't miss a good drying day. Then I will have a quick and superficial blitz through the house, averting my gaze as I pass the room of doom, I have my principles. Just making sure that everything is in the correct room will do for today. Anything that doesn't have a correct room will be hurled into the ROD.
So that's the housework covered.
The rest of the day will proceed as the spirit moves and according to the alignment of the stars.
For nursemaggie and all the rest of us having a bad hair day or an even worse than usual hair day........................
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You can't control everything.
Your hair was put on your head to remind you of that..I believe that friends are quiet angels

I like that thought for the day Monna, seems spectacularly appropriate for me today.
I'm upset, due to work. Seems it doesn't matter how flexible, dedicated, available or hardworking I am, I can't get reliably good shifts and the needs of the business seem to generally be in opposition to me getting that. And also it feels like I'm always on trial and always have to overperform to even stay where I am. I realise I'm supposed to take the next round of changes as they come and see what happens, but this is the 4th time in 18 months and frankly I never come out better off, I just temporarily do all the cover (cancelling everything I have on) and am then relegated to the bare minimum of shifts.
Anyhoo, sorry for the rant. I'm just !!!!y. And on a 3 day fortnight.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff maybe be a little less available, sort of like The Rules suggest for when a chap asks you out..."oh I certainly can't do tonite or tomorrow...but I can fit you in on Wednesday week?" I do hope you get that bungalow, NM - it sounds just so ideal for you. *crosses fingers, legs and eyes*.
Oh, and thanks for the heads-up re chamomile tea; I've just found some in the cupboard, so will give it a go.
Monna I am definitely having a bad hair day; loads of it stayed on the hairbrush when I brushed it this morning. :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
No it's not just silly softstuff. I can't understand why employers treat people so badly. Do other workers treat you the same? I think it ought to be illegal, I presume you are on a zero hours contract.
monna I'm going to find you a video about why we never achieve what we set out to do. It will also explain a little about why you are treated like you are softstuff.
Until I go outside monna for me I have a good hair day and we are talking hair here. There are only a few bits on top that don't know where to go. The bottom couple of inches still look as if they have been chewed all night by rats, The rest is reasonably tidy, which is all I desire. It's always done as it likes. Hairdressers despair of it so I can't keep them, I did keep one for a long time because we where friends. She did tell me cutting my hair is like cutting cotton wool.
I got up to late to get the first lot of washing out. When I got out of bed I the first lot of washing was being taken in. I was far to painful and stiff like I always am. There was no way I could have got up the steps to the garden and put my washing out.
By the time the stiffness had worn off, the whirligig was full again. It takes days to dry indoors at this time of year. I think I will have to go put out upstair's line and use that.
My hair when I go out, even when there is no breeze one will come out of nowhere and I will look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards 1000 times. My getting up hair is much tidier.
I too think the bungalow is just right for me. There is everything I need around it. I did find there were three buses available. One I will have to go look at the bus stop to see what number and the other two I don't have have the timetable for. I did collect all these timetables for when we were looking to move near DS's work. They go in the opposite direction from town.
I went on Street view last night to explore the area more. I wish Google did not blur notice boards. It even blurs the bus numbers.0 -
Softstuff At work, we use the phrase that !!!!!! doesn't roll uphill, and many will flog a willing horse - one of the most useful words I learnt was 'No', it's amazing how those individuals move on when you are not so readily available
my work life is a lot more routine nowadays - in a good way
NM I have everything crossed for you too - the bungalow sounds like it's been waiting for you xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I hope I never meet any of you with permanently crossed eyes. All you will see is a blur. :rotfl: Thank you all.
LW. I know I can't send you a pm but I just watched this and immediately thought of you. I have been praying that I could find something to help. I hope it does and anyone else who has been abused in any way.

I like the theory, but unfortunately if I'm not there I'm not paid. And if I'm not available, as a casual, they'll just be filling my place with someone who is. The same is true if I say no Islandmaid, I'm incredibly dispensable (as have been the last 4 receptionists in 18 months!). I certainly have the choice to say no, but saying no is choosing not to get paid.
Nursemaggie, it's how it is here in Australia for a vast number of employees, "0-38 hours a week, must be available over 7 days". Heck, once you've come in for an 8 hour shift, if it's quiet and you've been there for 3 hours, they can send you home and not pay you for the rest. There are other employment options I can take for sure, but most involve a lot more than my present 5 minutes travel each way, and are still under the same casual conditions (as in I might get there and only get 3 hours).
Anyhoo, I feel a bit calmer today and will forge onwards and try not to get upset with what is. The sooner a labour government gets in here the better.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Moving day again here as we are on a,48 hour mooring, we will set off when CHS finishes work, I just hope we can find somewhere before it gets dark.
Busy day for me before we set off, drop CHS at work, then the school run, then collect a prescription and get it filled at the pharmacy, then off to the hospital on two buses to get CHS hearing aid retubed.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Phew! we now have the survey back from the surveyor and other than a few minor things like re-pointing the chimney everything is OK and we've also had a quote for insurance including flooding where the insurance company say there is no sign of any flooding problem in the area of the new house so they've given a quote very similar to what we pay here. Looks like it might just have been a very small squall in a tea cup, not even a fully fledged storm for which I am very grateful. I've packed most of my cookery books, the lounge looks very bare!0
