DS1 has split with his partner, she was the main cause of the problems and didn't want any of us to see the children. Well, today I was invited with DD to DS1s house and he had the children there. So pleased to be involved in their lives now, they are 6 and 2. I'm going to bed a very happy Granny tonight!
Oh so pleased for you Camelot. Joyous!
We drove from the far north of Scotland this afto, a small part of the journey was covered in an inch of hail and snow...... that was steaming in the sunshine!?! An amazing experience.
Just had a HM picnic tea at budget hotel half way home and I shall endeavour to catch up with you all laterx

Camelot, I am so happy for you. Rifts in families are ugly and when children are involved it is cruel. I hope your DS1 will be happier now and that you will be able to build a close relationship with your grandchildren.
Lyn, I wouldn't get to worked up about the flood risk. I think it is like everything these days, everyone has to cover themselves for every eventuality, no matter how unlikely, in case they get caught in a compensation claim. When my brother and I sold my father's bungalow the buyers surveyor flagged up a risk of subsidence because there were some cracks in the concrete path. We were born and brought up in a bungalow just down the road and we pointed out that to our certain knowledge that concrete path had been there for over 70 years so a few cracks might be forgiven.
We heard no more about it.
nursemaggie, the bungalow sounds fine and if it is suitable when you see it I would go for it. It's a nuisance about the bus but if it is the only thing wrong I'm sure you can get round that.
I do know just what you mean about wearing skirts to church. I have no objection to anyone wearing trousers, or even torn jeans if that is what they like, but I have to wear a skirt. I suppose it is being brought up in a time when Sunday was a special day and we had a special set of clothes for wearing to church. I can be very unconventional in most things, but old habits die hard,
Islandmaid, enjoy your new car. Are you going to be allowed to drive it, or is it strictly your DH's baby?
Polly, you tell that daughter of yours that we are all right behind her in the matter of doing an OU degree. Good for her.Just as long as she is relaxed about it and doesn't put herself under stress. The degree is less important than the fun and interest she will have in the doing of it. Whatever happens there will be an army of well wishers here cheering her on.
I've had a lovely day. This morning I watched the Trooping of the Colour that always raises the hairs on the back of my neck. My patriotic little soul glows. I watched the highlights again this evening. Lovely stuff. The children on the balcony scenes were hilarious, particularly when George was pretending to sing the national anthem and his cousin clamped her hand over his mouth.
Anyway, it's time for bed. I dozed off in the chair this afternoon so I may have to find some entertainment tonight.I believe that friends are quiet angels
