Lovely to hear of those having good days. Hugs to those who need them.
My day yesterday was just dog walking and gardening which I love. And then four hours just relaxing/sunbathing. Almost perfect except that DH had to work.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Silvasava, glad you had a good day yesterday. No matter how old we get, our birthdays should still be special. Not with the wild excitement we have as young people but still have the love and attention from our family and friends for one special day.
Polly, I hate the expression 'I share your pain' and usually only use it humorously, but in your case I really do know what you are going through. Back in the day I had 3 frozen shoulders, two on one side and one on the other, over the course of a few years. The difficulties that caused in daily living and indescribable pain when an involuntary movement caused the arm to be jerked back is something I never want to experience again. So you see, I really do feel for you.
What a torrid night! (No Hester, I'm talking temperature here.) I had the fan going all night in my bedroom and the temperature never dropped below 23. We had no rain or thunder but we are promised them again today. Well see.
I can now walk between piles of clothes and 2 bin bags are filled for the CS and 1 for the tip. So progress is being made. I'll give it another go today.
Enjoy the bank holiday and the good weather if you have it. I am not complaining but its altogether too not for me. Never satisfied !
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
They tried to bury us. They didn't know we were seeds. (Mexican proverb)I believe that friends are quiet angels

So sorry to hear that some of you have horrible things going on at the moment.
I am sending positive thoughts to you all.
I have to say, in all the time I have been reading that you seem to be the kindest, warmest people. You always come up with wise words, which I am sure are of comfort to those that need them.
My day was really lazy too, sitting in the garden, pottering and doing the crossword.
Did visit the grandsons later in the afternoon which was fun.
Have a lovely, peaceful Bank Holiday everyone and don't forget to record Car Share!!0 -
I have WiFi today, so exciting, I can bore you all rigid ( rigid is a favourite of mine ).
I have a very exciting day ahead, I'm cleaning out the kitchen cupboard that holds my bin and I'm scrubbing the grouting in the shower!
I don't like my cupboards they are solid wood, I'd prefer wipe clean as I'm a lazy moo.
Thinking of all those of us who are struggling, I hope Burtha and karcher are ok.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hi all
Hugs to poories, sads and fed ups x
I must been taken with an attack of 'the vapours', I am on a half time break from Mount Ironmore - this morning I have stripped and remade the beds, washed anything that stayed still long enough, bottomed out our bathroom and vacuumed the bedroom
I would be sat outside enjoying the sunshine with a coffee and a good book, but neighbours grandchildren are round and they are um.. a little exuberant shall we say:D
I have this week off, forgot it was half term, why is it when the kids were young I never seemed to be able to book school hols off, now when I don't want or need those weeks, boom... I get them
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike children, it's just the noise they make :rotfl: Neighbors grandchildren appear to be stuck on loud repeat - Nanny? nanny? Nanny! NAN, NAN, NAN.... I think it's karma - revenge for when my little darlings where less than cherubic
Do you think if I chucked Marshmallows over the fence I could shut them up for 5 mins
Anyway, another round of ironing, then I might treat the hard floors to a steam clean - that's it, I must be ill or possessed by my OCD Grannies spirit .....
Have a fab Bank Holiday all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Bit !!!!!!ed here. Just completed CPR training, so if any of you collapse and need it, I'm your woman. At least if you wait until my wrists and shoulders recover from this training session
I also now am able to use a defibrillator and epipens, though I'd rather not do any of it for real if it's all the same to you.
Islandmaid, you have nothing to lose by tossing over some marshmallows.... or sedativesI don't dislike kids either, but struggle with too much exuberance for too long. To be honest, I can be the same with over excited adults too :rotfl:
Hester, I'd trade my present kitchen cupboards for wood. Some idiot painted my shelves. I can't scrub them, I can barely breathe at them without the paint coming off.
Monna, you won't survive here when the cruise comes. We set our air conditioning to 24 in summer and delight in the cool :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
MMF If the scorched patches on the grass of the whinging one are black or brown the stuff has probably done it's job. I have a lot of daisies and dandelions growing on my grass. The fertiliser that I've put down also kills these so I have some patches where the underlying rubbish is dying off. It'll be worth it because otherwise I was going to end up with a lawn composed of only daisies and dandelions in a couple of years. If that's the stuff Mr MMF used then she'll have another cause for complaint soon because my next door neighbour used it last year and ended up having to cut the grass every 4 days :rotfl: Tell him to cheer up, life is too short to be that unhappy about a bit of grass.
I've cut the grass in the back and I'm currently going for the mother of the year award by filling the inflatable pool. How long before the garden is full of other people's children?0 -

I take it you know about the bleach, bicarbonate of soda trick? Mix into a stiff (another favourite word?) paste, apply with gloved hand to grout, wait a bit and then shower /rinse off. No scrubbing required...
Beautiful here in Welsh Wales. Wasn't supposed to be and, typically, we are leaving at lunchtime....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Polly I definitely do need a long rest after last week. I think I ran out of spoons on Monday.
I am still wishing that dress did not have buttons where they were. Now don't do this while you have this bad shoulder. If you put one hand behind your back and push it up as far as it will go, then put your other arm over your shoulder and push that as far down as you can reach, There is quite a gap even if you are young and able bodied. That's where 3 of the 4 buttons were. They were quite big about 2 cm across and covered in the same fabric as the dress. It would not go over my head with them fastened because the neckline was quite high. I don't have a very big head I need age 2 to 4 in a hat.
I do have an antique button hook. It was my grandmother's. I expect she used it for the tiny buttons on button up boots when they were in fashion. She was born in the 1880s. My mum was born when grandma was in her late 40s like DS was born when I was 48.
DS and I had a nice visit. We both talked 19 to the dozen. He was able to stay until 8.30pm as he is not working until tomorrow.
I think I will just do some sewing this afternoon
If I can work out how much money I will have left after I do up this flat perhaps I could treat myself to one of the dresses I saw on the website.
I don't know if I have said. I can't get any doors to fit they are only 2ft 6in wide. The cheapest paneled doors I can get are only £17.50 each. I only need 4, every one of these doors have holes in them, but unless I go for the top end of the market and have them made to fit the frame I can't do it.
Flat doors are all hollow. The door frames are also 6in shorter than the normal door.
If I paid the housing association to fit their own I would get doors that probably cost the 5p. They are horrible things.
No no progress with the bins. The noise is a bit better because they are letting the kids out to play. This means the garden is noisy because there are 9 children on in this part of the flats. I think there are others on another block. When they are all out playing of course we also get a few other kids in playing with them.
Frankly I think the housing association are embarrassed that they keep letting flats to the refugee agency without consulting us, so they are burying their heads in the sand.
FPK I hope some progress can be made today on finding out what your dad's problem is. I hope you mum is getting a bit of extra sleep.0 -
Hester why not get some sticky backed plastic for your cupboards. They still make it. Then you can just wipe them out.0
