Morning all,
Halfway through a research morning and really relishing it after stacks of marking.
I'd love to stay in touch and will accommodate whatever key plan is in place. I'm a bit of a phone dodger myself, but from what I hear of whatsapp I'd be fine with it. Must confess to not using it though, but all of my students seem to.
Nursemaggie, all I can offer are hugs and sympathy.
Hester you haven't won a raffle for a custom fit purple sued corset, have you?
Hugs to all who need them.x0 -
Hi........very shy person here.
Have been reading along for years and never dared post (how ridiculous am I?)
You are all so amazingly supportive that I vowed I would join in one day, but never had the time as I was working full time. (lame excuse, I know)........but now I am worried you are going to leave me.
If I promise to post more, can I be in your gang please?0 -
Me too please don't leave me out! I would miss you all if you all just upped sticks and left! I read but only occasionally post....I cannot imagine people trolling others, what on earth is wrong with them? (Or rather I can but why?)

I am another who reads and rarely posts and would miss you all. I am not a troll honestly.
ps. Seen your air rifle incident on the DM website Hester. I used to live near there as well. Bit scary for the children.0 -
I have to follow Tinydancer and Helebore as post very rarely but always read along and would definitely miss you all.
Please can I be included in the emergency provision?Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
It's a very big clinic on Thursday afternoons. People come from all over, not just UK but other counties too. My nurse said they were a doctor down so I presume someone is sick.
They had an incident in the blood room. A patient was called, he went in and was promptly sent back out again so I knew there was something wrong. A nurse came running out, actually there must of have been two going in opposite directions. The nurse I saw came running back with a crash trolley followed by a nurse from the clinic whose crash trolley they had borrowed, carrying a defibrillator. A few seconds later another nurse brought another crash trolley.
A doctor went in to the blood room, two or three minutes later 3 more doctors went into the blood room. All that must have tired me out because I fell asleep then. I was not the only one, at least one other patient fell asleep.
A nurse came and fetched me to have my blood taken in one of the rooms in the clinic I go to. He said he was doing a few in clinic rooms so they would not get too far behind. I still waited well over two more hours.
Their is one thing to remember about the doctors and nurses, they too will not get home until late. 1.30pm is quite near to the beginning of the clinic. I would not be surprised if they did not run to well after 8pm. A lot of them have young children.
No one else has mentioned it so it may just be in this area it is much cooler today, only 15. It keeps raining too. The hot weekend we were promised seems to have disappeared too.
Don't you need smart phones or tablets for What's App? I definitely don't want to go back on Facebook. I deleted my account 5 years ago for a good reason and I don't want it back.
There is something that has existed since before the internet. I don't know how they work but DS still goes on one he has belonged since he was about ten. One day they all decided to say roughly how old they were.
DS had to say "don't tell anyone I am only 10."
Most of the others were in their 30s and 40s and one was 60. No one had noticed they just thought English was his 2nd language. It's still going. We could have a thread on Reddit.
Are you OK Polly?0 -
Sticking a paw up here and thinking that maybe we should go the open forum route. that way we can all have the link, ignore that it's there in general terms but know that we can assemble should the OS here go to pot. That we can choose to log in, or walk away and get on with life if trolling does hit, all our quiet friends could stil share in our ups and downs and still we could keep our anonymity. It would be no barrier to those of us who are a bit technically challenged either.
Whaddaya think?0 -

Yes, I'd be happy with that. We may have to pay a subscription though, I don't know how they work.
nursemaggie Yes, when you said how late they were running, I thought of the staff, goodness knows how they manage if they have children!0 -
Hello to all those lovely new friends who have joined us today, welcome all of you don't forget to bring a nice big mug with you!
Could I make a suggestion if we do decide to swap our personal details that before anyone actually does this for real that we're asked if we want to be contacted by the person asking for our details before the information is passed on? I know FUDS has my details and trust her totally to keep them private and a couple of other people who are my trusted friends have my address or my phone number but there have been posters in the past who have asked more than once for my contact details that I have for diverse reasons chosen not to accommodate. If the person being asked contacts the person whose details are asked for before giving them out or not as the case may be it's a safeguard against possible future friction.0 -

Friends are fine but people who can remain unknown having the capacity to continue 'trolling' after I come off line via my phone or through the post or even turn up on my doorstep would be very uncomfortable indeed so we'd need to be very careful who had access to the personal information wouldn't we?If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
