I sympathise with the phone haters. I'm fine with talking on the phone but paranoid about actually ringing anyone. I always imagine that they will be cooking a meal, painting a ceiling or hanging out washing and will curse mightily whoever is interrupting them.

Tomorrow I will begin to PM a few people with my email address. This business of threads disappearing or strange things happening on them makes me very nervous. It has only been happening fairly recently and I cannot understand why something that has worked perfectly well for a number of years should suddenly be plagued with difficulties, unless there is mischief afoot.

MONNA it's probably new advanced technological 'improvements' at MSE HQ like the new format that none of us can use because it makes our eyes turn inside out. I much prefer to text people than phone them - it's cheaper, and you never know if it is a convenient time to phone them or not. I also find it hard to have an informal, chatty conversation on the phone as in real life face to face you take your cues from each other. Over phone lines I often find myself and the other person interrupting each other because of the lack of such clues.

How lovely that everyone on this thread wants to make sure we can all keep in touch in case of MSE Armageddon!
Happy to divulge my email and or phone number (no problem with phones as I spent time as a telephonist although like Monna I do worry that it might not be a convenient time so I always ask) the WhatsApp group is a good idea as it isnt dependant on any other platform and can be kept exclusive (not from any of us - no adverts or data gathering)
MrsL - so pleased for you and HWK that it looks as if you will be leaving your house and garden in appreciative hands - it makes such a difference.

And on the subject of recognising someone, not an mse'er, a boater I've seen online, describes her self as a cool biker chick, her photo backs this up, I met her in RL and I was gobsmacked, I don't know who the photo was of but if it was her the pic was at least 30 years old. She was most annoyed that I didn't recognise her.
A clue? CHS and I want something that is as rare as hens teeth and we've had a whisper that it may exist. We should know in a few weeks but I'll say no more for fear of jinxing it.

Softstuff

Hubby had a couple of ideas. The first is a shared google doc that anyone can edit, this way if anything happened here we could all type and edit that document - down side to this is we'd all have to have a google log-in, upside is whoever wants to remain anonymous could. We could even use that as a repository for just storing some additional anonymous contact info. He also suggested a closed facebook group, but obviously that removes anonymity and some people like facebook.

And finally we could set up our own forum. Though this is an option best reserved for if anything happens here that is terminal (given it'll cost money and take administration), I'd take care of that if necessary and sort it out That is if anyone would want that, and on the proviso it'd be limited in size and scale.

In any case, I'm happy to share whatever info of mine with some of you if that is the preferred method.

Hester YOU TEASE. You might guess that all our imaginations are working overtime. I seem to remember that some time ago your solicitor was trying to get some of what is rightfully yours from your ex. My hope is that he is going to lose his house and a goodly part of his ill gotten gains and its all coming to you.
