Happy Birthday for yesterday, darling monnagran. :bdaycake: if it makes your son feel any better, it's my son's birthday next week and I had to ask him how old he'd be. He'll only be 33
I too was thinking how awful it would be to lose touch with you all. I wondered about sending pm's to a few people with my email address and mobile phone number, which could be passed on by them to other people, and everyone could do the same. Not sure how well that would work though.
One of the member of another MSE thread I post on has actually set up a separate forum so that we can talk about things we might not want the general public to read. It was done through a company called ProBoards and I was going to tell you all about it in case it might be a suitable idea for us, but it's not working atm. Sigh.
I have a blood pressure check presently, as I want to see if it's worth asking the GP to reduce my beta blocker dose - the thyroid problem may have lowered my BP and I'm fed up of feeling faint when doing ordinary things like standing at the sink. I shan't take the tablet the day I go to visit my sister-in-law, or I shall probably pass out in the queue for Security
ETA Forgot to say that after the BP check I'm meeting up with Churchmouse, who many of you will rememberWe start with coffee, and that segues into lunch and then we have another cup of tea

A Facebook group but I know not everyone has Facebook and to be honest I don't trust that platform at all. Drat I don't know. There are free forum set ups available so that could be an option. Maybe we could put up with the adverts on screen when we only need it for emergency access?
The MRI was just fine. I was anxious an out being anxious because I needed the ticker to be slow enough to get sharp images. It was 92-103 in there so it did very well and actually, and aside from the continual instruction to breathe in, out, hold etc I did find myself relax. The next step is waiting for contact from the cardiologist when he gets the report in about 2 weeks. If its not urgent or requires a change in meds then I just wait for my appointment in October. So we're hoping for a no news is good news scenario.
I'm having a lazy day today. I don't even think I'll go to the plot till everyone has gone at 8pm. I need to chill and can't be doing with distractions or, er, I annoyances:o:cool:
I'm popping lamb chops in the slow cooker (drat I do need the plot, I need mint) and looking into spelt scones so I can make mince cobbler again. I feel like my shopping budget is going haywire with healthy-to-me products and actually what I need to do is strip it back to hunter gatherer with added appropriate grains and heart healthy choices.
Monna HaPpY bIrThDaY! So sorry my eyes missed that yesterday. x0 -
Well done with the MRI, fuds :T0

oh the dreaded strike on the railways and 20 minute train journey turns into two and a half hour bus ride. 3rd appointment in a week has hit me before I set off. Sympathies to your DH FPK.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONNA just how does it feel to be 21???
FUDDLE fantastic news that you coped so very well with the MRI scan and managed to keep it all together while it was happening. Good move to have a 'you' day and chillax, the world will cope very well until you want to join it again and a quiet contemplative day will settle your system like nothing else. Blessings be upon your house girlie xxx.0 -
Thank you all for your birthday wishes for yesterday. I've done a good job in keeping the date quiet all these years, but this was a story too good not to share. Apparently DIL relayed the story on FB, so I broke my rule of not getting involved with it and posted a thinly veiled threat of dire retribution.
I think that Ivyleafs suggestion of all of us swapping e-mail addresses with, say 5, others and posting who they have informed so that no one is left out, is sensible. Then some one who is computer savvy can sort something else out if the worst should happen and tell the rest of us what to do.
I think this must be a unique forum. We quite possibly know each other better than many friends in RL, because we have no public face to keep up. We can be more honest about our opinions and feelings because, with the cloak of anonymity, we don't have to fear being judged or gossipped about.
I'm having an easy day today, just doing my favourite activity - pottering.

Silva and Softstuff, thanks for the advice. I think you have a very good point about possible grubs being resident because there was definitely 'something' going on before my DH got involved, but it is worse now! I think I'll try and investigate a little into the soil to see if tnere are any grubs (ugh ). Perhaps i should do a rain dance as well!
They are disgusting little critters, still make me shudder and I'm familiar with them here. The thing about them is it does make the patches look almost burnt and it does get progressively worse... I guess fingers crossed it is that really as they'd get the blame!
Happy 21st Birthday Monna. Well, I might be wrong, but it's in a better direction!
I'll have a chat to my hubby about ideas for a forum contingency plan.... maybe something custom made. There's got to be some advantage there to being married to a software developer!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Discord is good for chatting if anyone has it as you can keep a nickname rather than your real name. The functionality exists for either typed chat or speaking if you have a headset with microphone or a smart phone. You can make calls or chat one to one or make group calls or group friends. I'm in a group for a game I play online where we speak, another group for a different thing where we only type chat and another group with my son and another friend for something we play online on a Sunday night - we also speak to each other for that one.
It depends I suppose how strong people's desire to remain anonymous is. I have no problem with facebook as it can be altered to hide other friends, and just about anything else that you don't want people to see.0 -
Happy Birthday Monna in a few years until you can claim your 4th 21st birthday
. That should confuse Pickle.
A lovely lady I knew, when she was 82, used to tell people she was nearly 80, but not from which side. Cunning ploy, I thought.
Silva, will let you know how the slug stuff works. I'm hoping to plant the lupins in the garden in the next few days. They seem to be a decent size now. I used the blue things in the garden at our last house; it was like slug and snail Armageddon, and totally gross.
Finished one sewing project yesterday, hoping to get another done today. Cycle ride first, as the sun is breaking through.
