Lovely news Floss  Will he be travelling much or is he just out from underfoot? :D

Nice to see you back Lamewolf, look forward to hearing about your adventures.

I can't imagine having to do that round trip Nursemaggie, I'm sorry you have to. My nearest hospital is a 5 minute drive or half hour walk, indeed, it's where I work. It's also predominantly a private hospital though, so it's one of the reasons why we have private health cover. Other than that we'd be in the same boat as you, the public hospital is an hour away by car or about 3 hours by multiple buses.

I've been chilling out a bit (yes, I am capable of it!). Was a bit miffed weight wise when my weight went up about a fortnight ago, then hung there a bit, but it's gone down again with a bit more besides. Seems too that I've gained a bit of lean muscle and this more recent loss is all body fat. Curious little visual that made my husband shudder this morning, in body fat alone I've lost 10 big blocks of butter :D I'm in need of some new knickers today, it's not like they feel big, just that they don't seem to stay on the cheeks anymore :rotfl: Sorry for the tmi!

Very pleased for you both Floss. Know what you mean about being under your feet it is nice not to have DS under my feet, though it is very nice to see him when he calls. I am happy to hear your DH is happy in his new job. It makes a big difference when people are happy in their jobs.

I think I spoke too soon about upstairs as a full sized football game, 22 players, seemed to be going on until about 10 minutes ago. I also spoke too soon about the washing lines at the weekend. Today she has been hogging the one rotary drier all day until after 8.30pm.

I will try putting mine out very early tomorrow because my new friend upstairs said she put hers out at before 6am Saturday and that was what started everyone sharing and no just leaving it out until 6pm or later. With this warm weather and a light breeze everything is dry in a couple of hours.

Bins still not emptied today. Time for letters to go out with the threat of sending to my MP. May even send a copy to the Mayor greater Manchester.

fuddle I hope your post today means you are feeling better.

This time last year I was in Malta. They will be home in about three weeks. Looking forward to seeing them.

Welcome home LW. I hope you enjoyed your holiday more than you thought you would.

Softstuff he'll be travelling again, mainly UK with a bit of Europe. He's hoping to scratch a few new countries off his world map!

A happy unstressed and relaxed husband... hmmmm. I didn't know such a thing existed! I wonder if I should get one?
Actually no, I think I'll just keep the cat. ;)

Morning all. Am going back today to typing posts on 'edit'. Have not had to do that for ages, but for some reason the internet has started to play up again.

Looks like being a lovely day again. I'm out to lunch with a friend and then to dinner with family. We are going to the local pub and early so that Pickle can join us. She takes a dim view of celebrations taking place without her.

Fuddle, good to hear from you. We are always concerned to hear how you are coping. It's so difficult when you have to assess every mouthful of food for possible effects on your body. It takes some of the joy out of eating but the result is a comfortable body so worth the sacrifice.

nursemaggie. Having a fellow sufferer in the flats must help a bit. Perhaps if you join forces you can circumvent some of the problems.

Floss. The UK and Europe sounds about right for you and your DH. Enough time apart to be beneficial to you both, but not so long as to be stressful. Win Win.

Now mar, you know full well that you wouldn't swap the RV for anything or anyone. That's not to say that improvements couldn't be made but just think of the effort involved in trying to bash a new DH into shape. Nah! Stick with what you've got. He's more precious than rubies.

May be back later but hope everyone has a good day.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of all proportion.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.
  • A day on my own today as He Who Knows has 'gone fishing' with a packed lunch! a little 'me' time once in a while is nice and gives me time to do all the things that need concentration and quiet. It also lets me listen to my music while I'm doing them which is most pleasant.

The Estate Agent has given us (with her permission of course) the number of our purchaser so we'll invite her round tomorrow to walk the bounds and see what she'd like us to leave and also NOT to leave when we move. It will be nice to meet her anyway and let her know what is where in the garden so she can enjoy the harvest next year if she keeps it all! My mini wild flower meadow is looking particularly fine just now and the ox-eye daisies have all opened their flowers so it's really pretty, hope she likes it!

Sounds good Floss. You'll have new things to talk about when he comes home as well!

NM, good luck with drying the washing!

Well, we are in a bind. DH offered to mow and feed elderly neighbour's lawn a couple of weks ago. There were a few dead patches that looked like it was thatch stopping water getting to the roots. He duly raked these and put grass seed down with compost. The grass seed is sprouting nicely BUT ........ there are now quite a few dead patches and tbh, it looks like the fertiliser he used may have scorched the grass in places (although we don't know what caused the initial patches before DH tried to help). Our neighbour is not just upset she is livid. DH is absolutely mortified.
I believe it will remedy itself, with some help from us, but, understandably, our neighbour doesn't want it to look like a tatty garden for a month or so.
Today I shall be ringing turfing companies to get quotes so we can pay for re-turfing. I simply cannot bear the thought that she is so upset and that DH is beating himself up about it. What is it they say, No good deed goes unpunished?

Thank goodness the lawn is not huge and we have money put by for emergencies. I am pretty sure that even when we get this put right (and spend every evening watering the turf to make sure it survives!), we have lost her friendship. It was not a good day yesterday :(

Sorry to go on, I know lots have far more to worry about, but it's the upset I can't stand.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Oh Lyn, the meadow sounds lovely, and how nice to be able to meet and help your buyer :T

    Floss Brilliant news :j

nursemaggie I really really hope your letters do the trick x

Probably not a lot happening here today. OH has dentist in the middle of the day, and we bought some copper tape for DD yesterday as she couldn't find any in her local high street or Morrison's, so might take that round to her later. Her DH has made her a container and she has planted three different veg; one is spinach beet but I can't remember what the others are. The copper tape is to put round the container to deter the dreaded slugs, so I hope it works.

ETA MMF, just seen your post. What a rotten shame, I'm so sorry :( (((HUGS)))

It's very tiny IVYLEAF, it's the area where we had the pond and the borders behind it so only a 'patch' but a couple of years ago the girls gave me a pack of wild flower seeds in my Christmas stocking which I scattered round the pond and they've just self seeded all round and it's one of my biggest pleasures as you're never quite certain how it will look year on year. This year we have lots of plantains and some wild cranes bill geraniums along with the ox-eyes and the bluebells in the grass were really good as they had made many more bulbs since we put them in. Have campion too but not every year and wild sown foxgloves against the fence. I love it!!!
