DH managed to shave today yippee. They wouldn't let him shave in the bathroom (although he can walk around a bit) so they brought him a bowl of water to shave in bed. However they didn't bring a mirror. Fortunately this was just as I arrived so I used the selfie camera on the Ipad which seemed to work. One much happier hubby
They are definitely talking about discharging him on Tuesday He can't wait Amazing to think how far he has come in just three daysIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
So glad he's doing well maryb. What a good thing you were there to help with the iPad!
karcher Very glad to see you posting. I do hope you're feeling better x0 -
Glad he's on the mend MaryB.
Hi Karcher :j
As regards pale skin, I've been over here in Australia for 12 years now and would swear I'm even paler than when I came. I wouldn't mind if it was just pale, but I'm so white it's damned near translucent! I cover up a fair bit because I burn and also because skin cancer is huge problem here. This of course thrills the specialist I see once a year for a skin cancer check, but frankly I wouldn't mind a touch more colour. Fake tan simply doesn't work on me, the stuff that you just put on looks orange and the stuff that's supposed to change colour just doesn't on me (something to do with my skin oils).Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
FPK, I'm still chuckling here about the pheasantSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070

Good to see you karcher, hope you're feeling better.
Great news maryb, fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Had a chuckle at the guard pheasant FPK, reminds me of going for a walk with the dogs at dusk with DD, she had a huge flashlight with her that was really beginning to annoy me as it was being flashed all over the place (she was about 6). After a warning she flashed it once more right into the face of a pheasant, said bird got a shock and flew right at us. DD just about climbed up me in fright and dropped the torch which instantly broke into several pieces!0 -
Just about to have breakfast on the allotment - left DH in bed at 6.30 and have planted out parsnips, summer broccoli, beetroot & carrots while catching up with 2 episodes of the Archers omnibus
Will then be catching up with laundry, weeding the back yard pots and reading under the garden umbrella enjoying the warmth while out of the sun2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I have tried to write several posts and then deleted them.
I don't have the eloquence so many of you have, I just ramble.
I wanted to say Lamewolf, please never stop posting.
No matter what your DNA you are a strong kind loving thoughtful person.
You have made me realise I am not the only 'different' one, thank you.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
FairyP, pheasants have the reputation of being particularly stupid birds and most motorists would agree. However, we had a pair that lived in the woods below us and spent quite a lot of time in our garden. One morning the male spent a couple of hours walking round and round our rotary clothes line calling for his mate. He was absolutely desperate and it broke my heart. I saw him a few times after that but never his wife. I hoped that she was tending to their chicks somewhere but I feared the worst.
Well, I have an action packed day today helping to provide "light lunches and cream teas" for the church's May Day event. I was making a sticky toffee pudding at 6.30 this morning. Quite how that relates to "light lunches" I'm not sure.
Enjoy this lovely day everyone.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.
ETA. silver-oldie. We love ramblers on here. Some of us ramble eloquently and some just burble on about nothing in particular. Some of us (hangs head) can bore for England.
You just keep posting my love. You are special and we would miss you if you weren't here.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Lovely to see you Karcher, I hope things improve for you soon. Great news Maryb.
Silver-oldie, I ramble too but I don't let that stop me posting, ramble away my dear, we're all here to listen.
Burtha, I hope you are ok.
We have a lovely mooring and hope to stay for a week or too, unfortunately it means a long ramble in the dark to get to the car to collect CHS from work as he is back on the late shift for 2 weeks tomorrow.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Silver Oldie - don't worry about rambling - this thread can go off on a tangent at a moment's notice and no one minds - that's what makes it so lovely!
Karcher - good to see you & hope you are OK
Had a couple of Hornets feeding on some rotten apples on my compost heap a few years ago - I gave them a wide berth as they were big bu**ers!
Didn't get a sail in yesterday as no wind whatsoever but will be going out this afternoon although probably motoring - at least I'll be able to get a bit more experience taking her off the mooring and putting her back on! I'm not like Hester who moors alongside. I'm in the middle of a channel with strops and buoys fore and aft so it can be a bit of a challenge, especially if it's windy!
Do hope everyone has a good day and gets to enjoy the sunshine - looks like Fuddle picked the right weekend - hope she's having a good time & the sun does her chest good.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
